By this time, the fledgling 24-hour sports station ESPN was starting to gain momentum and it saw something special in NHRA Drag Racing. After a reasonably successful NHRA Fallnationals broadcast in 1980, ESPN, along with Diamond P tackled the inaugural NHRA Northstar Nationals. From what we watched, it's pretty good.
