When we say "things are starting to break down" it means
      1. We are super later ... gone beyond the tipping point.
      2. That human civilization is and was in essence of big ship of fools.
      3. That we are a self-serving species whose time is finite ( even the dinosaurs lived longer )
      4. That our privileged little lives (enough of Amazon.com shopping zombies) is totally unsustainable.
      5. That our days are numbered, extinction is here. Having eaten up most of what was there to consume.
There is no amount of new or rehashed wisdom that can alter 1 to 5. Endgame as many experts predicted decades ago.
Get off your privileged high-horse position and go visit a poor country (any) to see how people survive.
Expand your consciousness even in face of eminent extinction. Adios !

The difficult thing for me isn't realising the import of the problem, the intimacy of our connections with nature, or the great need for healing. I understand that. My issue is understanding how I provide for myself in the system that exists. This is going to be the case for many people. I have to figure out how to create something that other people want, that will pay my bills, but that also moves us all in the direction that we need to go in. If we can't find new ways to provide for ourselves, we are stuck in the paradigm of having to choose which tyrant to work for.

I think what is missing from this analysis is inner work. Rearranging the external aspects follows naturally after working on the inner aspects. Sometimes referred to as consciousness evolution. Eckhart Tolle is a good starting point for doing inner work that naturally leads to a more enlightened rearrangement of the outer aspects of one's life. Goof Luck!

I am part of a small group of elders who have all looked at this and are hoping to find ways our efforts toward wisdom in "meaningful, collaborative dynamics with other people" can be helpful in the larger picture outlined here. I believe that radical honesty with our own self, then extended to all we encounter, fearlessly and deeply considered, may have a part to play.

This is exactly reflected in the current long term transits of Astrology. The major major alignment of Saturn and Pluto ( the heaviest of symbols) is in the sign of Capricorn which is all forms of global and national organization and also all issues with “the family” in every sense of the word. If you happen to scoff at Astrology, check out Richard Tarnas’s book “Cosmos and Psyche”. He was a guest in this very show. He is no joke. I think understanding the cosmic dimensions of “this shift”, can only help, as the Cosmos , if nothing else, transcends all our differences across the board.
This guy has some great ideas to step up to the challenge, but it is writ large in the sky.

We as individuals need to have Mobile Foundations that are willing to uproot and find better soils as it were. If we as humans are to stuck in foundation and the continued goal of cementing those ideals firm, we become less mutable and rendered static in spirit. This stubbirness is partial to many confrontation left unsolved, where fam members just assume not pick up the phone for months or years on end. A spiritualist would be prepared for change just as those with great wisdom accept they know nothing.

“How do we give people a felt sense of their connection to the world.”, it is asked. The answer that is provided is to spend more time in nature, to become more intimate with others, to do psychedelics... these are worthy solutions to be sure, but what is really being spoken of here is what deep spiritual traditions, most notably - Buddhism - have espoused for thousands of years. A non dogmatic approach to spirituality, like that found in the Buddhist tradition is what is needed to solve our problems as humans and save the planet. Everything that is being spoken of here is Buddhist in nature - interdependence is a fundamental, core concept. I would encourage all sensible, intelligent and concerned humans to explore this vast source of wisdom that is the Buddhist teachings.
May all beings be happy and free from suffering!

    • @LeanoraEmbodyTruth

Yes... I agree.... and I did the Buddhist thing for about 10 years until it I felt the dogma and limitations there, some creating from misinterpretation of course, and then some created from 'the tribe' thing of what was required for 'acceptance ' in the tribe. At some point we must learn to full stand alone, no dogma... and just meet the present moment fully. Its a practice.

Schmachtenberger is smart enough not to promote any single model of spirituality. The moment he drops 'Buddhism' or any other -ism as a suggested solution, he'll alienate a large part of a potential audience and thus create more polarization.
Sure, if buddhism is the way for you to achieve thiz, preach on... but realistically, there will be no global mass conversion to buddhism, so the tools have to be accessible to anyone independent of their spiritual or cultural alignment.

The message for me is watch and change my own behavior. I'm trying. Fear underlies my competitiveness. Intradependence - sharing, collaborating, collectively gaining from community is the final stage of human development, which for me means discerning emotionally safe ways to connect with others for a better outcome. It is a pscho-spiritual process. There are numerous groups in this world who are "working" on this.

Start today to take better care of yourself and your family. How about also learn about those who think differently that you do, what is their point of view - a la Johnathan Haidt. There might be a flux of change and temporary discomfort but the potential for new is hopeful you cannot help but be happy inside no matter what the current situation is.
Notice most of the very wealthy have no glimmer in their eyes, no look of authentic joy. They are maintaining castles built in sand, oh the toil. The new will come, it is inevitable.

For me the forgiveness of someone is a reflection, at least in part, with something in me I haven't forgiveness. A practice of introspection and self compassion. I need more of those practices.

Kind of a funny moniker: "rebel" while speaking of "interconnectivity or single cell to multicellular life". We have these conundrums between self/other, old ways/new ways, sovereignty/hive mind, different/same. Duality, multiplicity, ongoing transformation. The butterfly's "goo" seems ever finding new ways to form, dissolve, form again.

Hey man, iam a bit late to the party but i Asked daniel EXACTLY that question on facebook! This is what he answered: "Practice writing your ideas on things. Take the time to refine your writing to be as clear and precise as possible. Then have conversations with people about the topics after you have clarified good ways of expressing them. The writing will also make sure your understanding is clear. Clear communication arises from clear thinking. It is the process of transferring your clarity to another."

This is funny: this video with title about “humanity’s phase shift” was preceded by an ad about electronic equipment for transient signal analysis. Gives an insight into TH-cam’s superficiality of rank ordering algorithms, but also tells about how far we are away from AI as anything more than dumb feature matching.

Regarding chrysalis and fetus analogy, I am reminded of these words from one of the Pauline epistles:
19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that[h] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies

He's one of brightest people I've seen in a long time. If he got past materialistic a priori assumptions, he'd really have a message. Unfortunately, overcoming our sense of egoistic separateness is going to take more than realizing our interdependence with Nature and the physical cosmos. He has yet to make the leap to "man is a spiritual being having a physical experience."

The conflict resolution analogy regarding family sounds completely ambiguous and nonsensical in context compared to the rest of the message. My family and ex-partner both are pathologically narcissistic and impossible to communicate with on a sensible level. Learning to "get along" with them is counter productive to my own ability to maintain my own productive personal transformation process. Why would I try to reason with and engage the very destructive process and dynamic that is the caterpillar (them)??

    • @Richard-vu7kh

Mark Breithaupt - I hear your point. Similar conundrum I’m facing after years of trying to accommodate a very toxic family situation. Still, I also see his point....I am in no position to claim any moral superiority....I’m not above the same frailties that compel human beings to make poor judgements.
