    I came across this tutorial as I was researching clay book covers. Although I will not be working with polymer clay it is nice to see how others work with clay materials. It would have been nice to know what glue you used to adhere the clay to the book, but this was still a well done tutorial.

    Lovely work! In the beginning, I couldn't see what you were doing but then around midway you fixed the lighting. Thanks for showing!

      Hey 👋 - yeah I've figured out what it is- black fimo is really hard to film- you wouldn't believe how many lights I have now & I still need to adjust the camera itself. Also I do alot of my creating at night so it's dark! It's a working progress. Thanks for watching! 🥰

    Love the tutorial... Thank you... Question... What glue do you use to glue the design unto the sketch book?

    • @GailJonesPCC
      @GailJonesPCC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use either superglue or a hot glue gun, it really does depend on the book. (Thickness/ style- the superglue could bleed through the front page of book if it is thin) For this one, I used super glue as it is a hard back cover :)

    What a wonderful tutorial!! Thank you!
    But you left out what you "glued" it to the journal with.... White glue? UHU?? Elfy?? Or something else??

    • @GailJonesPCC
      @GailJonesPCC  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! To glue the design to the book, I used loctite superglue 😁

    On another tutorial she used (a tip from a second clay artist) an acrylic block on the texture rollers to keep the pressure even. Hope this helps you to make other wonderful projects to share with others. Thank you.

      Thanks for your comment Kathy. I'll certainly keep that in mind. I also saw your comment about lighting, yes! Sometimes it's awful! Especially for close ups! It's a working progress & the video im currently filming, is not only looking better for lighting, its better for close ups. Thanks for the hint :)

    Your work is stunning ! What temperature do you bake and the length of time?

    • @GailJonesPCC
      @GailJonesPCC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Nancy! I baked at 75C / 167F for 25 minutes. At thr time I had a gas oven, so had to check on it. Electric is better - more of an even temp. If you have a gas oven just keep an eye on it. If you make it, I would love to see how it turned out! 😁

    Do you wear a mask when working with mica powders? I hope so. They get in your lungs. ❤❤❤I'm excited to see this lock . Thank you for sharing.

      I use mica power very sparingly, the brand I use now is great just for artists, I have a well ventilated area. Thanks for watching! ❤️

      I struggled alot with my lighting on this one, only realised when it was uploaded how bad it was! I'm not new to clay, but new to filming, bare with me!

      @@hermiendebeer9839 if you're in the UK I recommend loctite superglue. Gorilla glue is terrible- it seems to slip around and not stick!) If you're in the US I'm not sure what's available thats good with polymer clay that you could easily get. But if you can get loctite superglue it's a big reccommend from me :) There is a great polymer clay group on Facebook called HOP! hooked on polymer. I think alot of ladies are from the US on that site & they may be able to help you with what's available there 😁

    This video is so fast. Sometimes, I can't tell where you are putting the clay. Very dark. Saw the final piece. Nice work.

      Thank you Christine. Yes it is dark and fast unfortunately. The video was done some time ago, when I was learning editing skills- you can slow the video down with YT controls, if that helps.
