Thank YOU! Everything you make is so beautiful and your tutorials are wonderfully done. Watching them over the past day or so has cleared up so many techniques that I wasn't quite understanding.
This is so beautiful. You are so talented. I think I'm going to try and make one for my next journal. You're very inspirational. Thank you. I also saw your etsy shop. You make such beautiful things. Very creative, very original. Definitely recommending.
I always struggle with the seams...I tried to smooth them down and it would look wonky, great tip to add texture or little dots/dashes to camouflage them!
Hello, congratulations this is what I saw most beautiful! I am French retired and I now have time to devote myself to these pretty sets by following your tutos! To make gifts to my family :) !! But I was wondering how you would introduce the notebooks or books inside? Is what you paste it on the cover of the notebook? Would you have a tutorial where you go to the end of the use as book cover or secret notebook? Thanks in advance for your kindness! And thank you again for these beautiful videos
Question: How thick is the cover should be for your journal? I do have a pasta machine, but I was curious how thick it should be? I love this tutorial :) I love all of your work :)
Wouldn't it break? I am not familiar with this clay, sorry. And what could one use as a top coat to protect the design and colours? Would it work if you had cut out a hole in the clay for the blue ball, so it doesn't stick out and looks really embedded into the cover? What do you glue it on with? It looks fantastic but I am wondering if it could survive practical situations as well. Thanks!
This is polymer clay, it's plastic based and (depending on the brand) very durable. It's not super fragile like regular clay. :) It does well as jewellery, book covers etc. You could use a glaze to protect it (I would use a matt glaze in this case), painting on as many coats as you felt necessary. Cutting a hole for the stone would be fine as long as it's properly attached, either by wrapping clay around it or by gluing it on after. Glass often has to be glued on after anyway, as it doesn't stick to clay too well. If the clay for the cover overall is thick enough, it is glued on properly and the clay parts of the design are relatively flat, you shouldn't encounter any problems. Trial and error is a part of it, though, as with any creative medium. Thanks and I hope this helps! :)
I want to try to make one of these but in a much larger size .. say at least 8x10.. any recommendations on how to get my clay that wide or what is the trick to piecing the together...also not sure what thickness on the pasta machine do you recommend for these?.. thanks!
+Julie Mayer I'd use the thickest level. If it's too wide for the pasta machine, you would need to cut two separate sheets and blend the seams together, but I would recommend doing this on the surface you're gonna bake on (or on a piece of wax paper you could lift straight into the oven) as it would be very difficult to move otherwise. It's doable, though! :)
+Velvetorium thank so much ... that's what I was thinking that I would have to do it in two separate sheets and seam them somehow... great tip about the wax paper! I will definitely give that a try and let you know how it goes.. thanks again!.. keep the great vids coming...absolutely love your work!
Did you just bake it like it is ? I made a cover, put it on some cardboard using liquid clay, baked it and it swirled up on me. Now in order to straighten it I'd have to heat it back up. how do you keep yours from bending ? This cover you made is gorgeous !
I baked it on a ceramic tile. They can still bend up a little sometimes at the corners, and to fix it I either gently bend them back while the cover is still warm or I'll place something heavy on each corner before leaving it to cool to keep it flat. Hope this helps! :)
hi! thank you for your tutorial, do you mind to tell me where did you get the texture stamp you used for this project and so many more you do? I have searched but i can't find it in amazon or some other websites I really think they are great! Thanks!
+Nightstar The pasta machine just rolls out the clay at an even thickness (I'm unsure of the brand of mine) and the names of the stamps are in the description, I got them all online! Ah there's always room to improve, but thank you!! :)
could you tell me where I can get these exact texture mats?.. or a good place to buy something similar.. I am not having any luck finding nice designs like these..thanks in advance
+Julie Mayer The background stamp is from www.cooltools.us and the other stamps are from a set called 'India Paisley' by Viva Decor which I bought from eBay. :)
+Velvetorium thank you so much for replying.. I will definitely check those out for sure!!.. .thanks again!.. love your vids by the way.. so keep em coming..lol
While I love the end result, I always find myself wondering how durable the cover is. Obviously its going to break if dropped, but what about chipping from continual use? If someone could give me some feedback I would be very gratefull :)
Meriem Benslama - It's polymer clay, and can be found at any craft store, as well as online. Polymer clay isn't actually clay at all, but is some sort of plastic compound, I believe. It's oil-based, rather than water-based, which means it won't harden when exposed to air (WHICH IS SUCH A LIFE-SAVER), only when baked, which is done in a regular oven. There are a number of different brands, and it comes in a gazillion different colours.
If I could make a notebook as beautiful as this I don't think I could ever use it in fear of ruining it
Me too! Finally I'm not the only one who is afraid of "destroying" an item destinated to using :)
I love this technique. I definitely going to try this in the future on one of my altered books. Thank you so much for sharing your talent!

+bearynice2u You could, if you wanted to! Thank you. :)
Question: How thick is the cover should be for your journal? I do have a pasta machine, but I was curious how thick it should be? I love this tutorial :) I love all of your work :)
+Christy Cherry The thickest level on your pasta machine. So maybe 3-4mm in thickness. :) Thank you! X
wonderful video! did you have to seal the journal with any gloss after so the mica powder didnt rub off?
I don't usually seal them with anything, but you can if you want to. :)
something like this should be a box for me than a book
cover.
Good idea. :)

wowwwwwwww
From where did u get that stamp...
What kind of stamps do you use? And where do you get them?
+gypsy_lu See the description. :) All purchased online.
It stills hard ?
The fingerprint won’t mark on it ?
Few questions. What is the pasta machine? Where did you buy the stamps? Also, how are you so amazing at this?
+Nightstar The pasta machine just rolls out the clay at an even thickness (I'm unsure of the brand of mine) and the names of the stamps are in the description, I got them all online! Ah there's always room to improve, but thank you!! :)
Is there any alternative for the clay? Like anything that doesn't need to be baked?
You could try air dry clay but it's really an entirely different medium. Other than that I'm not really sure. Sorry. :(
+Velvetorium oh ok but what does it mean when u say " it's. Whole different medium" sry
Xx0Cathy0xX I just mean that it is a very different type of material than polymer clay. :)
+Velvetorium oh
Hi again. Where do you buy your clay? I looked on Amazon, but they only have these tiny little blocks and that's it.
+Nightstar In craft stores or online. Search for specific brands, like Premo or Fimo. :)
could you tell me where I can get these exact texture mats?.. or a good place to buy something similar.. I am not having any luck finding nice designs like these..thanks in advance

+Megan Cornelius Thank you! :)
Where to buy all

Fantastic! May I ask, where did you get the stamps from?
I have a lot of Viva Decor sets, many of the stamps I use can be found online by them. :)
could this work with a sketch book to?
Maybe not with the stone as that side of the book wouldn't lie flat, but otherwise, sure! :)
Velvetorium Thank you!
Oh..l like it
It is great
not that easy but i want it
what is the material of the blue pearl
It is just glass. :)
