- The Donut Plains theme from Super Mario World, restored using the original samples! Part of the Super Mario World Restored Project.
This restore was done by shutdown, a friend of mine who has restored this wonderful piece, and allowed us to share it here on the channel! His Soundcloud channel can be found here, if you wish to check out his work: / visualizerextras

Damn this one sounds like it could be from a present Mario game
It sounds like if Super Mario 3D World took musical inspiration from World instead of Bros. 3.

It reminds me of Super Mario Maker's versions of this theme.
It shows what a great job *_the cartoon_* did making these tracks sound fuller.

I always imagined Mario casually strolling along to this tune, then at 0:14 he stops, turns to face you, wiggles his eyebrows, then carries on strolling.

@@brentdennison176 He's not the one that made these, it's a whole group of people, all credited in the descriptions.
@@brentdennison176 This one in particular was made by me. We all use the sequence data from the SNES music but since the pitch bends aren't exported properly we have to remake those. I usually try to get as accurate as possible with mine.
That xylophone sounds exactly like how I heard it as a kid.

The song that played while you made levels in Super Mario Flash, back when times were simpler but we had Mario Maker before Mario Maker

For those of you that are wondering most snes games were made using specific midis and synthesizers but most of them had to be compressed this is what it sounds like not compressed
I’ve always liked how(for lack of a better term) fruity SMW’s music is. I know a lot of people like SMB3 more, but I’d like it if more appreciation was given to World.
This soundtrack would be PERFECT for an hd remake of smw. They wouldn't even have to change anything, the decompressed audio is amazing already
No. Some of the samples used sucks, because they sound midi-like. That's literally the reason so many people didn't like Dragon Quest 11

This is awesome! The secondary marimba is a bit loud but the overall sound is great.
Actually it appears the issue is the "secondary marimba" is in fact just part of the regular marimba track, but down an octave for some reason.
The marimba chord voicings are separated into 2 or 3 tracks, can't remember, but they're the same sound.

I sorta did a resize of Mario to be around the size of Sonic, and I also reshaded him like a mania sprite too
Well the thing is that this is a restoration, not a remaster. What you're hearing here is the original samples Koji Kondo used to make the music, before it had to be compressed down in order to fit on the SNES cartridge.

hey the lower marimba in this restoration is an octave too low. might be worth reuploading if you care about careful recreation.
The xylphone seems to be the wrong key... it's too high pitched.

Nothing's really wrong with it, but it's the only one so far where I prefer the in-game version.

If these are the original samples, what equipment or sound library did Koji Kondo use? Forgive me for my skepticism, but when I look at other restoration projects like Jammin' Sam Miller's DKC series restoration, and see that there's documentation of where the samples come from, I have to wonder whether this is a true restoration or you're not just finding soundalike samples. Forgive me if you've already documented the samples elsewhere and I just missed it.
This one uses the Roland D-50, Roland R-8 and Roland L-CD1.
