    Did you disconnect your battery before splicing into the trailer power wire? Curious if that is needed if using these quick connectors and having an inline fuse.

    the magnetic switch has 2 wires, one goes to a grounded screw on the bottom of truck and how about the other wire? thanks

      It magnet, or lack of, triggers the completion of the circuit, going on a whim here but I’m almost certain thatll go to the negative of your lights

    My magnetic switch has 3 wires (red,gray,white). I can’t figure out how to connect it. Which wire goes to the grounding point? Which wire goes to the black grounds for both lights? Also, I used 22 ga wire for everything since that’s what is on the lights that I bought. You see any issues with me using 22 ga?
    Greatly appreciate you!

      Without knowing your switch diagram, my wild guess is that your white would be your ground. Red or the grey would be the normally open or normally closed. You’d only use one or the other. Meaning one method would turns on when it’s magnetized and the the other would make it so that it turns on when demagnetized.

    After watching a few bed lighting solutions, I like this one best. Can you add a wiring diagram to your description?

    • @detailership
      @detailership  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea, though this was a pretty spontaneous install as I myself didn't know what wires were what until going under the car, and just shot a few clips along the way.

      @@detailership I've started ordering parts. I'll use your system - BUT - without the magnetic switches. In other words, lights to switch to power source. I know which OEM wires to use, but which wires from the switch do I need to use for Pos, Neg and Ground? I see 5 wires coming out of the back of the switch, but don't know which are which, and which to use?

      GREEN: Positive 12v
      BLACK: Ground
      BLUE: switch led power
      YELLOW WIRE:Leave Alone Dont need. RED&BLUE WIRE:Twist Together its for the Accessory that u want to turn on. And so that the switch led light turns on and of when u push the button as well...OR twist red&green together And the led will always be on… OR leave the red wire disconnected and there will not be light on the switch led.

    How is the magnetic switch holding up? A few reviews I’ve seen have said they’ve gotten so warm they burn up. I’m about to start the same project on my 2020 ram

      Everything is still working as good as it did since I installed it, I think close to two years ago now! No issues

      Awesome! I did some aux reverse lights recently, but forgot to record the process. May do a quick one after the fact. Our oem reverse lights suck lol, especially in the rain

    How did you connect the magnetic strip

      @@detailership how was the two end connect. Both to ground or one to power.

    • @detailership
      @detailership  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jorge3860100 in this set up, it was both to ground. Incase the wire got pinched I wouldn’t want a live wire to be exposed in this instance.
      The magnetic strip is literally just a switch; when it senses the magnetic field is flips the switch and makes the connection

    Wirenuts on an automotive application? Interesting. Wrong, but interesting.
