Thank you for these videos with these classic pentatonic grooves, this is really helping me with an older style blues and rnb gig I’ve been playing. Refreshes me with these simple pentatonic patterns and also helping me break them down outside of a live setting to fine tune them and practice them, these videos are perfect for what I’m doing at the moment

Update on this video lesson, bought Dan’s book RnB, Soul and Motown. The book sits excellently with this lesson, full of advice on how the great bass players from this genre created this magical sound. If you love this genre the book is a “must have” I highly recommend it, it’s Dan in a book, go for it!!

Fab-u-lush!! What a lesson I think I’ve ran out of superlatives to describe
just how good that was. I’m not sure how long the video ran for, take a guess at 15 minutes...that’s 15 minutes of teaching and a lifetime of context. Unbeknown to me, earlier today, my better half, as I’ve not stopped talking to her about the quality of your teaching on this channel and how much I’ve learned from it, she has ordered your book “RnB, Soul and Motown” for me, should be here Thursday.
So far what a day I’m having, this lesson to get stuck into and your book on its way. Thank you Dan, a true star👍

This is a great lesson that I can’t wait to start practicing. I’ve been hammering your other practice lessons and I feel that they have really made a difference in my practice and playing habits. I’ve been really working on the Cowboy song from Thin Lizzy, these lessons have really helped my dial in. I still need to work on my timing and rhythm but I feel like I’m coming along.

Fantastic lesson and love your channel. I'm drummer who was daft enough at my age (withheld) to buy a bass guitar a couple of months back. I bought your book "Creative bass techniques exercises", which is brilliant and helped me no end. I've been meaning to get "100 funk grooves" but I going for RnB soul & motown first. Anyway brilliant lesson and loads to practice from that alone for ages to come.
