I love my G-form Pro Rugged for pedal days here in SoCal. They’re light and breathable enough for the heat but offer solid protection. I’ll stick to my Fox Launch Pro for park days.

I have fairly chunky legs for being 5'10". Quads are 25" and calves are 17" and most knee pads I've tried fit like garbage. They tend to slide down or painfully cut off feeling in my leg. The best I have found (for my legs) so far are the Pearl Izumi Elevate's. They pull up high on the thigh, stay in place, breathe very well and are all day comfortable for trail riding.
Yeah nearly nobody makes pads for normal sized legs. They think all mtb riders are skinny roadies. G forms in 2XL are as close as I've gotten, but there's also Leatt's what go up to 2XL. Sadly that's about it for me around 23-24" quads, and 16-17" calves.

As a long time dirtbiker, always using knee protection....we go for a hard shell over good padding, not D30 but good padding. The outer hard shell is so as to not grab on what ever it hits, and provide that knee to rock protection. Probably hard to have this going on on a mt bike. Ive cracked a pretty beefy outer plastic shell, and it saved my kneecap. ------------------------------ Now I'm getting a new E-bike and from this vid I'd say the FOX might get the nod.
Great reviews and thank for not being biased. I hope manufactures see this and keep coming out with better pads for enduro and free ride. Good info on each. I feel like TLD equivalent to the other pads is the stage knee pad over the knee sleeve though. It’s my go-to now and performs just as well as Fox or Leatt. It just needs a slightly taller upper cuff. I’ve been wearing mine for 6 hours today and hardly even notice they’re on. They’ve saved my knees from some serious damage over the last 2 years. Also could we see 7idp and IXS in the mix next time?
I think it would be better if you guys sat down around a fire ring (dosen't have to be lit) with your bikes in the background and a cold beer of your choice and talk about the knee pads. I am a total advocate of IXS!!! Great review!

They also have a long section on the thighs of a silicone waist at the top, a very breathable / elastic material almost never sliding down. And the material is similar to D3O, it is flexible but hardens and absorbs on impact. Alpine star has another version that has an extended part up to the shin. I want to buy them for the future. I also personally have the Alps 2 Knee / Shin Guard, which I haven't worn since I have a Paragon plus (only if I'm going to ride very demanding tracks or a bike park. :)

Spot on the TLD speed sleeve pads. Super thick, heavy wrap but extremely thin crash pad. Seems like a bad combination. Plus, I don’t think they would stay put based on the sizing.
Ixs carve is the best ive tried. Ive done 3500 feel of elevation and still taken fullspeed roadgap sized falls and they dont slide and are way better than fox and tlds.
On fit I’m at the upper limit of medium and lower limit of large. Which should I get? Leaning medium in case of stretch so they will stay in place but if stretch isn’t likely I don’t want them to feel like they’re cutting off circulation or just uncomfortable.
Cool review but it's be great to get a perspective on fit for different sized riders. I have tree trunk thighs and big calves and it's a bitch to find knee pads that actually fit. Side note.... We drove down to Oregon last month and Bend has some epic trails. We did runs on Tylers, Funner, Tiddly and hit Phils for a bit - they were super fun plus it's really cool to ride 20 miles then drop into town and drink some spectacular beer..... Hats off to the local trail crews - they do an awesome job!!
I really would like to know where each item reviewed was made. That information is almost impossible to find online but it is on the tag so reviewers have that information.
@@TheLoamWolf Might help those companies make improvements on the next iteration. I currently have POC Joint VPD 2.0 knee pads and the VPD System Lite knee pads. Both of them I feel the upper portion needs to be around 1-2" longer up the thigh. I find they both eventually slide down on me. And the 1-2" longer will help keep them up and prevent that pad and short gap.

Try em first. They have great reviews. Been using em almost 2 years, they're by far the most comfortable. There's a reason they sell a ton of em.

The Chromag Rift knee pad is probably the best lightweight kneepad out there .

having cracked my leatt knee cap. i would never go without a hard shell.
I love my Alpinestars Paragon Plus knee and elbow pads for every day AM/EN riding :) They fit really well and they cheap 40-50€.

Better this way compare lightweight with lightweight /heavy with heavy etc … sometimes mixed theres a lot of gap even if you compare a lot of them

Which pad are you asking about as some of them stretch a bit more. BUT, I'd say they all have a little bit of stretch.
