Scotch It! You scotch gods.
I could smell it trough my computer when you opened the bottle, Love it.
smell-o-vision!
It's so cool to see you guys making this review. I bought a bottle one year ago without knowing nothing about it. That was my very first peated whisky and I've just fell in love with it. Now I can't stay away from peated/smoked whiskys. Cheers!
The Peat grabs you and holds on
They'll ( peaty whisky 🥃) do that to you, I pretty much enjoyed every 1⃣ I've tried😂❤ Talisker Storm great, too-- I might add
I recently got to try this whiskey and found it absolutely delicious in my opinion. Hope you guys have a great day!
Thanks, you too!
The most useful infotainment on the internet! The Scott and Bart show!
Just got my new scotch God glencairn, it seems to hold whisky adequately. But the 2020 coin? Left my wife speechless when she flipped it over.
Must have been the BIRD!
Kilchoman is great stuff. Have not tried this one but love the ones I have tried. There 100% Islay barley releases are a favorite of mine. Bart may not like it as much as the barley they grow and malt themselves is much lower ppm. All the whisky they make except the 100% Islay barley is Ardbeg spec malt from Port Ellen maltings on Islay but there unique setup of stills gives it there own personality. Cheers guy's
excellent, thanks DPW!
I bought a bottle of this when I was in Europe a few years ago. Very enjoyable stuff.
Bam
Everything from Kilchoman is brilliant. The essence of Islay, the best peat notes on the island imo. Their secret is in the quality of casks. TESTIIIIIIIIING Scottish Style. !! Senigala. 🏴
Test it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the review. Since you were both so crazy about this one, I went out and bought a bottle immediately…on sale no less! Lovely stuff! My box says 47.3% as well. Like one TH-camr says, the contract is on the bottle :)
Boom…Malt Mates
nicely done! and i think you guys have really come a long way! comments were spot-on. ardbeg uigeadail used to be my number one, but it's gotten more expensive, while sanaig is so reasonable! for me, a taste of luxury, leather wrapped in red velvet, as you sit there in your smoking jacket. yes, agreed, peat and sherry make for a powerful combination!
Boom
I blame you guys that the price of the Sanaig has gone up lately 😂
we assume no liability!
Yeah the last few batches of Sanaig have had a lot of active sherry casks. Love this one. Great value too!!
True
Great to see an American pronouncing caramel correctly, great review once again, well done! 👏🏼
Car-mall...Care-a-Mel
Great stuff lads. The Sanaig took quite a lot of shit in the early days but I picked one up recently and really liked it. Some good sherry and peat in my bottle. Cheers. Welsh
Really. What was the reason?
May I ask what year bottling is yours? I believe its on the label.
@@gman5986 It's long gone I'm afraid.
@@ScotchTestDummies The rumour mill suggests that the casks are better and the whisky older.
Kilchoman Sanaig is definitely one of my favorite Islays. I had the same first impression as Bart when I had it. It's a hitter.
Bingo
Don't let the box distract you. On the label is where it matters. Listen to Ralfy! 😊
Roger that
I have the bottle! Awesome review as always, Scott and Bart😊🥃🙌
Awesome! Thank you Richie!
Absolutely, one of my favs!
It’s a great one
Everyone now and then for some odd reason I catch myself yelling TESSSSSSTING. Like when my wife makes dinner or something and I’m about to eat I’ll just yell out TESSSSSSSTING! 😂😂😂😂😂 CHEERS! 🥃
Love it. You can scare people! TEST IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Islay peat + sherry casks = a marriage made in heaven.
We love you Fewgee
Haven't had a lot of experience with Kilchoman. The ones I did have, were a little light for me. This one sounds good. Great review.
Thanks Keith. We think you’ll like it
@@ScotchTestDummies So I bought this bottle a few days ago for $59 and had 2 drams last night. I've had a few Kilchoman's before and they were just OK. This bottle was very good and I give it a solid 89/100. You were spot on. Another bottle for my collection. Thanks Dummies. :>)
Just got myself one yesterday..Good timing
Enjoy it
Love this one. Already on my second bottle!
Since breakfast? 🫠
Good choice!
Goes well with toast!
May I ask what year bottling is yours? I believe its on the label.
@@gman5986 no date on our label, but bottling code is 2.22 22/15 (not sure how to interpret that)
Kilchoman does some good stuff for sure. I'd definitely be a buyer.
this is a must buy!
Gonna have to graba few bottles of this one. Thanks guys
definitely, thanks Michael
Logical assertion, the bottle label was produced before the whisky was tested and, they've made the correction on the box which was printed post production.
Or someone did the old cut and paste and forgot to change the %
I love Kilchoman ,,Very good value to.
I have on sitting in my shell, time to open it soon :-)
Great stuff! I don’t believe they put distillation & bottling dates on their standard expressions, but they do on one offs & single casks etc. Maybe on the Loch Gorm as well. Cheers!
Got it
This is great stuff, really enjoy and it’s underrated and a bargain. Try the ledaig 10 is terrific as well. 👌
👍
Great choice! I just finished a bottle maybe 2 weeks ago. It’s really good. Better than the machir bay by far.
Totally agree!
Well you guys sold me on this bottle local store has 4 picking one up asap
excellent, thanks Joshua!
Nice review fellas. Gonna look for a bottle today or Wednesday.
Do it
Excellent review - great shirt El Barto! Working on enjoying peat. BTW, Port is not a Sherry - from different countries and grapes...From Dr Wineaux
Thank you Michael. Roger that on the Port. Sorry if we misspoke. We're just a couple of dummies.
I was hesitant to try this since I didn’t love their macher bay (I don’t remember the spelling) but really liked it.
This is a great one
The cask strength version is coming soon! It will cost only €72 in The Netherlands
Nice
I just got a Ledaig 10 but I have an itch to get this one too. How would you say they compare in overall quality? I know the Sanaig is going to be good, just wondering if after the Ledaig 10 this would be a step up or a step down (being NAS and all). cheers!
i think its a step up...
would like to see you guys put this bottle up against one of the recent Loch Gorms. so far I've only had the basic Machir Bay and found it good, but ultimately not complex enough so either Sanaig or Loch Gorm is in my sights.
been several years since we did Loch Gorm, we need to look at a newer release!
Few things I think could have happened with the difference in the ABV on the label vs the sticker on the box. 1 - old labels and boxes, though they should have covered the ABV on the box with the sticker. 2 - When the products landed in the US, it got retested for ethanol. 3 - I am completely wrong on both accounts.
It is interesting
Sounds perfect.
oh it is!
I always thought that Donald Duck was bourbon, and Uncle Scrooge was scotch. But considering that neither wears pants, I guess a crossover is possible. Super review. You folks rock!
Thanks Bird
that dark color makes me drool, and the purple logo makes me think of grapes and blueberries. 65$ its like 89$ here, i need to find your supplier.
Agreed…oh it looks so good
Like Ralfy says, what's printed on the label is the info that matters
👍
your only allowed to pick 1 bottle of Whisky for each of the 4 seasons threw out the year ( spring, autumn etc ) what bottles are you picking for each season and why ?
Bart says: Ardbeg 10 all 4 seasons running. It’s even what he would want on a desert island…he’s a Dummy.
Call in the Feds from the TTB on the packaging!! Well spotted lads on the strength balls up.
👍
This is a great dram. It's in Alberta for $55 US right now. Come on down.....I mean up. The best Kilchoman I've had is the Machir Bay CS. There's another batch coming according to the distillery. They WERE making whisky 8 years ago. I think 2005 was the first year of distillation.
Thanks for the info Watchman
Levi Garret plug. Great reference.. if you know.. you know..
Old box, gents ! . . . at least since 2018, all releases are 46% . . . both of u are blessed with good nose, i NEVER could tell even with 1-3mL of water (10-30 drops), reducing 46% to just 42-45% abv . . .
Our nose's have gotten much better once we put them to use on the whisky
I have Laphroaig 10 sherry cask and this isn't far off the quality and taste of it. Once Kilchoman get some older expressions around ten years plus they'll truly shine.
Better than Ardbeg 10 or Lagavulin 16?
No but, different in a very good way.
Were you guys near the tornado?
It was about 25 minutes drive time east of us.
Well in Canada we will pay approx 100 dollars for the same product and only get 700ml. So you get a better price and more for less... Tired of being overtaxed for products in Canada. Also hard to obtain here at times
Move south brother
I have also found that I definitely do not like ice in my whip.
good call
You didn't really think that 40, 43, 46, 50, etc. are exact percentages. They may actually be 40.1, 42.9, etc..
I wonder? We've seen plenty of distilleries put the exact point whatever on the bottle. Maybe they've got the tech to stick the landing and point zero it! They may actually be 46.0
This is one of those Whiskies that I was hoping no one would review. Dang it. I think the Wookie might need to change his pants after trying it. #bartisawookie
The Wookie wears no pants...Caskhole
B.O.B. At their best
boom, thanks Jay!
Watching Bart try to open that bottle was painful...
HIs hands are delicate like flower
No rating? Or did I just miss hearing it.
You missed it, apparently. 11:25
Sometimes we talk fast
@@ScotchTestDummies I liked it better when Scott used his tablet for scoring, that way you could find the scoring section of the video faster. A visual cue.
This one always makes me think of a toned down Ugiedahl.
I like the comparison John
I got my bottle for $55 out here
great price!
Red alert lol
Boom
Bart likes them girthy
Phat baby!
love Kilchoman, on the pricey side, but well worth it to me. don’t mind to pay extra for a quality and enjoyment. This one is Oloroso casks. Cheers… Dummies!
Nice. Thanks for the info Traps
