Jazzkeyboardist1 Jazzzy Wazzy, who did you loose in the Iraq war? The one voted in by congress? Hitchens didn't start the war. The war was completely legal. What was declared illegal was the British handling of it. Hitchens's mum was not religious, so what does her suicide have to do with anything discussed in this video? It's a shame you lost someone you care about in that war, but you should blame the people who declared that war. I am prepared to debate you but only after you learn to speak like an adult. Although he went from living his best life to dying his best death and through the legacy of his various media, he will in a sense live forever. Bravo Hitch......
I absolutely loved this man. I could listen to him all day. I found him fascinating, intelligent, would have loved to have him sitting at my dinner table discussing whatever we choose to talk about. He is sadly missed. ❤
Damn... when he talked about fatherhood at the start of the interview and how he was not that much involved, but wanted to make up for lost time. That hit hard... Died two years later. I'm sure the children would have had a true friend in him, as adolescents/grown-ups. Remember when I read the sad news about his death, and look... another decade gone. My second child was born April 13th, sharing her birthday with one of the greats. Rest in peace, Christopher.
It took so many centuries for a very honest and frank person to stand up and say what is what and how highly organized and institutionalized religions takes everybody for a ride!. Hats off to him and let his tribe GROW!!!
That we are able to pick out any old interview for review, any time, on a whim and for free is one of the best uses of the internet. Thumbs up for youtube.
This man has had a bigger positive impact on my life than any god ever has or will have. I always knew there was something iffy about religion, being born in a Catholic country didnt help, but it didnt take long for me to see past the lies with the help of this brilliant man.
@The Word Why can't you package your comments? Science is the proof, and if you've _ever_ flown anywhere, you've already accepted that. It has already predicted (using quantum theory) physical constants with incredible precision, and will continue to make such predictions into the far future. The only thing it cannot predict is what happened at or before the start of the universe. Religion, being made up by humans to explain the universe _when nothing else was known_ is just a bunch of lies. It doesn't matter which religion. And you are deluded. It's a real shame, but that's life. Either you work to discover reality (that's me) or you don't bother, and accept some two thousand year old horseshit (that's you). Good luck with that. You should relax and accept the fact you are a homosexual, in spirit, if not in deed. I've been happily married for fifty-two years, and I'm the grandfather of two beautiful grown-up grandchildren. You should be so lucky.

I wanted to say in response to Christopher, people who go to Church don't necessarily go other than to worship the GOD they believe in not to prove anything.I absolutely love listening to Christopher and would enjoy debating with him had he lived.
I believe that Christopher Hitchens will be remembered as an explorer, pioneer who just on intellect and honesty, changed the thinking of millions in terms of religion. I have NEVER seen even one theist, Christian, pastor, priest, rabbi, Imam, creationist debate against Hitchens and not only win but seemed like children talking with adults. This is a time that we truly need the genius level knowledge, wisdom and wit of the iconic Mr Hitchens
I still don't think I've fully come to terms with Hitchens' passing. Sam Harris said it all - "The man had more wit, style and substance than a few civilizations I could name." I often wonder what he would think about the prominent issues of today, like Pope Francis, for example, who so many are fawning over right now. We need more razor sharp contrarian thinkers like Hitch in the public square today.

Ah, what the hell, just opened my new bottle of Johnny Walker Black poured myself a good shot on a tumbler and toasted the New Year 2022 in company of Hitchens, in my opinion one of the most versatile and enlightening speaker and erudite I’ve ever heard, long live his legacy, this JWB on you Christopher! 🥃 I miss you.
I miss this man so much today. Christopher gifted many with insight, courage, and the patience to observe the world through a different lens - all while imbuing the future with curiosity. If he were here today, there is no doubt in my mind that he would act as a herald of knowledge and free speech, and adamantly condemn our fallacious descent toward Trump-era fascism, non-science, and racism. He left us too soon.
Hitchens often openly loathed his interlocutors but you can feel the respect he gives to Brian Lamb, which is returned in kind. Lamb was an honest man with a zero tolerance for bullshit, so he was cut to order to interview Hitchens.

It's too bad that I learned about Hitchens as late as I did. I would have loved to been able to meet him many years ago. His mind, his thoughts. Is manner of speaking. So much that I would have loved to have encountered.

Me either, BlackEpyon....I sometimes listen the entire day.

Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at:
Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us.

Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.

Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe.
We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God.

A truly great intelligent man...Thank you for everything! RIP.
One of my favorite people. Just sucks he isn't here. I love listening to him speak. This dude was awesome. Life's so short and unfair.
When I can find no solace in the issues of the day, or voices currently speaking, Christopher Hitchens always helps me center myself and think clearly again. I miss him terribly, and would be quite pleased if someone came along that could fill even one of his shoes. We need such a person badly.
Take a look at Cosmic Skeptic.
@@angelamaryquitecontrary4609 Thank you. I have been following him for a couple years. I have great respect for him and see how he came to mind here.

A great interview where we get to know Hitch a little more personally. Tragic that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer after this interview, particularly as he expressed the wish to go on forever.
Too bad my birthday was the 8th and not a few days later lol
Still dearly missed in 2024
I love this man. I miss him so much.
Yes indeed. So do I. His views, thoughts and talks brought me over the line to declare that I am and indeed always have been, an athiest.
WHY? can you explain,
It took so many centuries for a very honest and frank person to stand up and say what is what and how highly organized and institutionalized religions takes everybody for a ride!.

@The Word "In the beginning was The Word".
SCIENCE: The Universe was smaller than a pin-point 13.8 BILLION YEARS AGO, and just ENERGY.
@The Word Bye.

I wanted to say in response to Christopher, people who go to Church don't necessarily go other than to worship the GOD they believe in not to prove anything.I absolutely love listening to Christopher and would enjoy debating with him had he lived.
Rest easy: there's no such thing as eternal pain. Which is, in part, his point.
I wish he was here now, during these uniquely chaotic times. I would very much like to hear what he'd say.
How many times can I like this? Every few minutes there's a nugget that deserves another thumbs up.
Would love to hear Mr Hitchens on trump and the British exit from Europe. Rest In peace Sir.

He was such a beautifully eloquent speaker. Sadly missed.
Just imagine what he'd think now!

Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe.
We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God.
Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis.
God is the reason for us and all we have.

One the greatest or maybe even THE greatest in his field! I definitely miss him!
Finally a woman posts on here - even if it was 8 years ago lol
It's too bad that I learned about Hitchens as late as I did. I would have loved to been able to meet him many years ago. His mind, his thoughts. Is manner of speaking. So much that I would have loved to have encountered.
Thanks for posting this.
Very interesting. I always enjoy listening to this man.
One of the very few best speakers I ever heard.
This was well worth a listen in 2021...
