Please don't compare him with Messi. He is the one and only Karsten Warholm.
Simply the greatest race of all time and the greatest champion ever Warholm is a very pleasant person likeable the new athletic superstar since Bolt. The Viking Karsten Warholm can do more. He can do the flat 400 meters too

Karsten Warholm is simply the greatest 400 m hurdle . Many doubted him many predicted that the americans can gain back the WR in this olympics but the Viking would not allow that. Benjamin did not show up in the Monaco leg of diamond league. If he only showed up he would know the adjustments he will have to take.

The 400m flat times were 0.8 slower on average than previous Olympics. So these new shoes and track didn't help them

I would put this race on par with Men's 800M final in 2012. Both are the epic races of track and field of all time. We must thank the unfathomable record from the immense pressure of Benjamin.
If indeed technology or carbon plates or super spikes were used then why only the 400 m hurdles has a new world record so far? Why all other track events have not produced world records. Only elaine thompson anf jasmine camacho quinn are the only new olympic record? What happened to the 100 and 200 meters for men like bromell baker etc. i believe its the sheer talent and determiation to win this very competitive finalists drived them to thi incredible race
Funny that it is in the 400 metres hurdles that world records are being smashed and not elsewhere. We are currently blessed with greatest ever athletes at this discipline... Warholm, McLoughlin, Benjamin, Mohammad, Bok and the other one are like Federer, Djok and Nadal in tennis, an unprecedented outcrop of talent pushing each other to new horizons.
This is a very valid point. Some are making it sound like this surface and new shoe-technology is equal to running on a trampoline - but fact is that not many world-records got beaten.
Warholm said he had trained specifically for this type of track, but that just shows intelligence and being one step ahead. Anyone could have done that but didn’t.

Perhaps the Men's 400m dash in the 1960 Olympics comes closest to rival or better this accomplishment.
At Rome, Otis Davis and Kauffman broke the world record and were separated by a thousandth of section (via a photofinish). The third (Malcolm Spence) and fourth Milkha Singh broke the record (old world record) got separated by a couple of hundredths of a second. So, in short all of them broke the old record. Remarkably, Davis, Kauffman and Singh equalled or bettered the Olympic record in the semis.
The 2012 100m race was amazing too as 7 of 8 finalists ran sub 10sec times. It had Bolt, Gay, Powell, Gatlin, Blake and the silver medallist from Beijing.

Bob Beamon 1968 olympics long jump incredible 8.90 comes to mind bit that was a 5% imrovement on wr, whereas Warholm improved it by 1%. Not sure if time and distance are really comparable in this way?
Beamon jumped 8.90m at altitude in Mexico City, at 2400m - somewhere in between 7000 and 8000 feet. He never even got near that at sea-level. Thus he had an enormous advantage. I can't say for sure how great the advantage of his jump in the thin air of Mexico City was - however I guess this jump might correspond to 8.50-60 at sea level. Mike Powell's 8.95 in Tokyo in 1991 seems to me much more impressive than Beamon's jump, but not as impressive as Warholm's 45.94. To be able to truly appreciate this world record one should at least have had the experience of running the 400m flat in competition - and then imagine what it takes to run this distance with an added 10 hurdles - with the salt taste of blood in one's mouth and while the lactic acid keeps building in one's body and just keep going with the lungs burning and with legs so heavy that it seems as if you are just about to collapse, heart pounding and just reaching the
finish on sheer will power. Warholm himself has said that it at times feels as if his heart is going to give in under the pressure of his extreme effort when he can't even feel his own legs anymore. I definitely place his record on the level of Bolt's 9.58...
Karsten ran 300 m hurdles at Bislett Stadium, Oslo. June 2021, setting a
world record of 33.26. Had he run the last 100 meters and used 12 sec,
the world record of 400 m would have been 45.26 ... the track surface at
Bislett Stadium is not considered to be among the fastest in the world!

It's better because Wayde took 0.15 of a second off Michael Johnsons record. Karsten smashed his own world record by an unbelievable 0.76 seconds. And even Benjamin that came second took 0.53 seconds off of the world record. Santos who came 3rd nearly equalled the world record. Its INSANE.

Van Niekerk ran 15 ms faster than Johnson's record. Warholm beat his own with 0.76 secs. Even Benjamin's time should rank better than van Niekerk.
According to the IAAF Points calculator Karsten’s record is equivalent to 42,77 seconds in 400m. The points of the record for 100m/200m narrowly beats Karsten’s record.
This race was better due to the fact that the entire field was so strong. Imagine if under Niekerk's race that the guys finishing 2nd and 3rd place also broke Michael Johnson's record.

Not stupid. Messi broke mould for what is possible in his sport, this guy similarly. Short time ago broke 30 year old world record in his home meeting and then in an Olympic final obliterated that time in possibly the greatest Olympic final of all time. Hopefully there is nothing sniffy here. Hopefully just Talent and hard, smart Training.

@@TH-cx2yx He clearly meant the comparison in metaphorical terms. Somebody comes along and absolutely transforms the statistics of the sport. Messi's scoring records, number of hat-tricks, assists etc etc are unprecedented and Warholm's time progressions in 400m hurdles are likewise mind bending. @@narwhalsrawesome2718 because of covid, out of competition testing has pretty much stopped.
Even as a Norwegian, the time made me suspiscious, but Norway has a VERY strict testing regime and I actually don't think he's cheating.
In Norway the athletes have to go through independent testing regularly through the organisation anti doping Norway. «Anti-Doping Norway was established in 2003 to ensure that doping controls and prosecution activities for doping cases are organised independently from The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NOC) and the Norwegian Government.» (Anti Doping Norway website). In 2016 Norways by far biggest woman cross country ski star Therese Johaug was caught by this system. She had to stay out of competition for about 2 years because of it. Her crime? She had used a cream for her lips because of a sunburn. The cream turned out to have an ingredient from the doping list. She didn’t check it before using it.
So the fact is that in Norway they take testing seriously, even if the rest of the world could be lax about it. Warholm has probably been tested more than most. Also during the pandemic.
Yes, and all the coaches probably know the organisers cannot afford to have any big drug scandal, because it might scare more sponsors away from an Olympics that has turned out to be the biggest money pit and financial disaster in Olympic history. Therefore, they know they can almost dope as they want, because even if they fail the tests, I am sure failed tests won't be announced.

He’s a brilliant runner. But I just don’t like someone with as large an ego as him. His “others wear cheat-shoes but I don’t and they still can’t beat me” line is nauseating especially when he himself has developed the carbon fibre shoes with an F1 team !!
He didnt say the others was cheating, he was afraid those shoes (nike) will hurt the sports credibility. Did a quick search about running shoes and carbon fibre has been used in runnings shoes since mid 90's, not qushening pillows that are under nike soles,
@@jkdure I was deliberately paraphrasing, but he did effectively say that. Clearly the carbon plates under his own spikes helped him and are light years from the 90s versions you’ve referred to. Technology moves in and that’s fine, for Karsten and everyone else. “Credibility” doesn’t come into it.
The "credibility" mantra appears to be a sort of PR smokescreen, a diversion from suspicions about doping. What credibility is there in a race where a runner from Norway - which for decades had done the square root of squat until their recent "renaissance" - obliterates the WR by three quarters of a second and looks like he could run a second lap faster than some of his competitors could run their first?
Lol, sure we have close to zero good athletes, but that doesn’t mean a generational talent can come though the ranks once in a while. Warholm is not a nobody coming from no results. Read up on his backgound and previous results. I’d bet good money that if they re-test his samples in 10 years time they will find nothing. In athletics we have a few of these extreme talents, but remember this is a country of only 5.6million people.. Still a few extreme talents can come from such a small country - Hovland in Golf, Haaland in football/soccer to name a few in «summer sports» and a crazy amount of athletes in winter sports (see medal statistics for olympics)
Warholm is not a country, he is an individual, and indeed a very gifted individual. Please try to seize the toxic stream of tears running down your face.
I think you need to analyze better. Its just not warholm that ran much faster. Everyone in the race did. The third place improve around .7 and so did Rai. The track and the perfect condition was the perfect storm. Even the woman race showed the same
@@stanleykoh5357 I have never ever seen anyone who starts that fast in a 400m race while having that extra gear to fend off someone like Benjamin. Actually, I've never seen anyone start as fast as Warholm routinely does, because they know they would be dying in the home straight. (Warholm was able to start even faster in Oslo, where they don't even have the same sort of Mondo track that gives a 70 percent energy return.) Yet Warholm was showing another gear in the last 20 meters. Was that even his fastest gear? Warholm even said this was a "tactical" race, and it seems that he was actually slowing down before clearing the last three hurdles. This probably means he can go considerably faster. Does anyone really believe this is just down to superior coaching and training? It just is not believable when we are talking about Norway in a sprinting event, where they have done almost nothing for half a century.
@@PJOh It’s called winning mentality and switching gears when your opponents are close. They had planned for it before the race. Switch from a slower 13 step to 15 step tempo between the hurdles at the end. But just keep whining. The best guy won. He’s got a crazy winning mentality and hates loosing.
Reminds me of the time when so many were "celebrating" Lance Armstrong's incredible performances. Everyone criticising him and casting suspicion were called "haters". Warholm will be exposed as a cheater in due time.

@@bobcatthekittykat1075 it isn't about race. I am not one of those who believed Regina Jacobs was clean when she won two World Championships silver medals at the age of 39. Even as a Korean, I never believed Park Taehwan was competing cleanly. In both cases, I used my reason. In Park's case it should be highly dubious that a 100m/200m medalist is also a threat in the 1500m. Apart from the fact that no other Korean had come close to the podium in Olympic swimming, and the fact that Park chose to train in remote locations before championships, all the evidence seemed to point in the same direction. Yet no other Korean I know were calling him out as a cheater.
You can compare the credibility of Warholm and Ingebrigtsen's accomplishments to that of Jacobs and Park Taehwan, both of whom were doped.
@@PJOh No, both Warholm and Ingebrigsen are totally open of how they train. If you know Leif Ove Alnes, the trainer, you could check out his former results. When taking his education he ranked the highest ever. He succeeded giving Norway runners of 100 and 200 meters since 1995. Alot of other countries teams wanted to use his knowledge, but he stayed in Norway training Norwegian athletes. None of which had the talent enough to be world best, until Warholm. They started their work together in 2016 just before the Olympics in Rio. Warholm then tried 400 m hurdles for the first time. He had been considered one of the most talented athletes in Norway since young age, but he became a decathlon athletes. Alnes saw his talent in running and convinced him to try 400 m hurdles. Back in Rio, after just a few months of training, Warholm got 48,81 and was out in the semifinals. After that the progress has come in steps, not in jumps if you use doping. So before you throw out accusations, please check out the story first.
