I believe this song is one of the most briallant things Rancid have ever done. Brutal, epic and fuckin poetic. YO!!! love you all from the South WEst of SYdney
On his little sisters pink ten-speed. That detail is pure storytelling. Thanks lads. You were literally everything to us for the years that made us, us.
Rancid were definately chanelling a higher power when this song was written. So powerful, moving and thought provoking in every aspect. True art. Genius.
It's a shame that Rancid 2000 was underrated. Most fans wanted thier "Out" and "Life Won't" sound. Good albums but for me personally, it was great to hear thier 93 debut sound again....
Richard Alcocer to me, this was way more fucking raw and punk than their debut (as punk as rancid can be, amirite? Lol) but In all seriousness, the story goes like this: they wrote the album 2000. The way they recorded it was they set up a live band and just played the album in the entirety like they were doing a live show, and they did this 4 times in a row. Then they picked whatever recorded version of each song they liked best. By the end of GGF, the last track on the album, Tim’s voice is FUCKING SHOT. Listen to him talk about Big L, and sign off for the fans. To me this song is just emotion, sticking true to your roots, and punk ethos at its absolute finest. I hope other people can appreciate what I’m saying about this song.
I'm all about "Let's Go" personally. Even got it on 2×10" white vinyl! I do have "(2000)" as well as"...And Out Come The Wolves" on standard black vinyl, but since "Let's Go" is my favorite, I definitely wanted colored vinyl. Plus I love the 2×10" format of it! The only other multiple 10" release I have is "Super Black Market Clash" on a 3×10" format and I am extremely stoked to own that one!
all that real punk fake punk punk is dead bollox.. i could not give a shit.. rancid every time.. every fukn time.. in awe.. every song..every album..songs like ggf just reinforce my respect for this band.. merry christmas everyone...x
hahaha, nope reminds of of As wicked" a bit too: "I know this girl she's barely alive she's all haggard she's only twenty-five she said she never had a friend before I said "hey girl I'll be your friend but who's keepin' score" I saw this other little girl on the phone her mother comforts her from far from home the little girl was very hesitant her best friend lie dead on the pavement"
I guess not, but do you know much about Big L? I wanna know the whole story...as a kid from the 90s i definitely remember the pink 10-speeds....Ben Zanotto is sad as fuck too
the whole song builds up to me crying at that big L breakdown, every single time. why would big L ever even think Tim would forget him? their friendship is literally a part of his brain for the rest of his life. and that's all the assurance Big L needs. we all have friends like that. and we hope they're doing good. but the truth is some are, and some aren't. but we shared a lot of memories and will always have an unspoken bond.
This is the greatest horse racing song of all time. Anyone who has ever handicapped horses would agree... Camptown Races is the only other one that's close.
I say punk is how you fell if you like it oldschool, like Ramones, the clash, social distortion, bad religion or if you like it the pop way like Green Day,blink-182,mckrakins or more core like the exploited or the casualties i say it dont matter just make a union and have fun!(Rancid is the greatest!)
@mikeyrehab i feel it even though i don't understand lyrics because i'm not english, i'm italian, I FEEL IT, i know in my heart what's about and i love this, no other bands make me feel like that
Sometimes I really love when these guys play heavy metal punk. Harder and faster. I got some like Poison, This is not the end, Track fast, Out of Control, Antennas, and the song above .. Any else??
Nice to see you can't think for yourself and have to copy Tim and Lars. as if there isn't enough replicates and hipsters in punk these days, punk isn't Tattoos and leather coats it's a philosophy and away of life, not an image if you get caught in the image then you miss the point that's just the uniform
+Darren Thompson Fucking thank you. Fashion punks completely destroyed the scene; people more interested in the image than the philosophy. You don't need to copy every entertainer's image in order to believe in the ideas.
+TheGr8one1022 Agreed, but us sheep can't think for ourselves and start campaigns saying #resistcapitalism and the send a picture to Instagram on there new IPhone 6s,looking like they lost a fight with dad's tackle box and fucked up hair and say Good Charlotte is hardcore but imaged of a "fusion" of looks. SAD TO SAY PUNK IS DEAD CRASS IN THE 1978 recorded a song PUNK IS DEAD THEY CALLED THESE BITCHES OUT THEN. Punk is dead sorry it needs to die to be reborn Into what it was all about. Grass roots if you will. But sadly it's Hipsters
+Max Goodsell Playing dress up is childish dude. It shows a lack of maturity when someone emulates and dresses a certain way in order to show others that they follow a certain ideology, rather than just being an individual and not having to show it off to everyone around them. That and they look stupid. 40 year old men wearing leather jackets, piercings snd other "flair" look stupid.
***** Except you missed the part where fashion punks look more like each than everyone else in society. I see hundreds of regular people wearing a plethora of different clothes, and then I see fashion punks all wearing the exact same things.
For the longest time I thought "Big L" was a nickname for Lars, but I don't think he and Tim have been friends since "...way back in 1973..."...but hey, what do I know.🤷
Del disco RANCID 2000!!!! GGF tema nro 22 y último del CD!!!!! This is not Churchill Downs This is not Hollywood Park When the field's wide open I'll pick the horse who's got the biggest heart Let em run Let em ride Let em roll down the track Let em win, place and show Let em one dollar exact Six furlongs Four phillys Three mares Three years and up Who measures up Well I wish you luck Who measures up Well I wish you luck
I believe this song is one of the most briallant things Rancid have ever done. Brutal, epic and fuckin poetic. YO!!! love you all from the South WEst of SYdney
Absolutely! Makes me cry like a baby every time!
one of the first punk songs i ever heard...changed my outlook on music forever.
On his little sisters pink ten-speed. That detail is pure storytelling. Thanks lads. You were literally everything to us for the years that made us, us.
every time i see him he has to remind me, like i would ever forget
love how the music sounds like galloping
Goddamn I love the end of this song with Tim remembering his old friend Big L. Awesome end to an album.
This is such a touching tribute to a friend. Gets me in the feels everytime, cause the music kicks the shit out of most other things as well.
Why is this song so underrated , for me it’s an absolute anthem along side Avenues and Alleyways
please Gen Z stop with these " underrated" comments... This shit was never underrated you just were born 10 years too late.
@@fawkeeenset yeah pretty much. Lol This has been my favorite Rancid album for like 14 years now. 💜
@theworstguy390 saying underrated about every song that’s not on the pop list is overrated. This generation loves to overuse that term
Rancid were definately chanelling a higher power when this song was written. So powerful, moving and thought provoking in every aspect. True art. Genius.
Especially after having a softer release with life won’t wait. They come back hard with 2000.
rancid and tom petty are 2 of the great story tellers of rock and roll
One of my favorite Rancid songs, and one of their best!
fuck yea, punk will never die, its like the blues, and like tim said: 'through music, you can live forever'
OMG! Matt Freeman's bass, Tim vocals and Lars on guitar!
What a song! They absolutely rule!!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
The Bob Dylan of punk.
Best comparison ever!
#FACTS
It’s true
this song is so sick!!! it has a breakdown that seems to last forever
this band started it all for me, opened my eyes.

“Ok this is Rancid signing off for now!! Until next time. We’ll see you guys later!”
There’s a newer punk band called PEARS. They jokingly put this line in one of their songs doing a funny impression.
This is the best song to put at the end of your mixtape
I love tim's trademark "YEAH!"
This song brings a tear to my eye amazing
Am I the only who cries at the end of this song, when Tim dedicates if his friend Big L?
hahaha, nope
reminds of of As wicked" a bit too:
"I know this girl she's barely alive
she's all haggard she's only twenty-five
she said she never had a friend before
I said "hey girl I'll be your friend but who's keepin' score"
I saw this other little girl on the phone
her mother comforts her from far from home
the little girl was very hesitant
her best friend lie dead on the pavement"

PUNK is not a fasion statement, its a state of mind.
Do people remember Jimmy was left-handed... the creative juices.
great song to get drunk to; and of course copious amounts of cannabis!
i can understand 9 words in this song!
Who’s on Tim Armatrongs jacket, Lou Reed?
oi! Rancid is legendary! :D
Golden gate fields?

We all have a Big L. Bought this record when it was released, a lot older now and realize the meaning. I now have my own Big L's.
