The weird thing about using credits as a excuse for not bringing ordinance is that the only costs in credits durring a match are plane repairs and consumables resupply, which means that ordinance is cost free, with only plane characteristics penalties existing.
In his defense, it looks like he was trying to go for the win by knocking out all the planes. Where he seems to head off into nowhere at the end was the last location of the final GA, I think. But yeah, I can't come up with an excuse of having no ordinance and just shooting ground targets with his cannons..... My biggest pet peeve is watching human light fighters head off to the mining plant at the beginning of the game.
I guess that can be strategy if you are looking to counter cap by dropping a bomber out of the gate, but there are only a few light fighters fast enough and with big enough guns to pull that off. The overwhelming majority of the time when players do that, I just assume they have not learned the game yet, otherwise I can't fathom what they think they will accomplish!
I can up for an excuse for the corsair with no ordinance, maybe he had not enough credits to purchase & equip ordinance in the first place rather than being unable to pay the running cost of bombs & rockets.
@@RabbaDooDabba That may have been his impression but I find it hard to believe. It's difficult to actually lose money in a match. I may have to do a video on this as well, but for now I'll offer a challenge: I'll buy a day of premium for anyone who can send me a replay and screenshot of a battle where they lost money using no consumables or regular consumables (not gold consumables).
The can't afford ordnance comment doesn't make sense. Technically, you can use both bullets and guns without paying any cost (besides research, if needed). There is a cost for Universal Ammo, or Heavy Warheads, etc but you don't have to use them. What I started doing (h/t to NobleQ) was stocking up on the ammo and consumables I use routinely when they go on sale, as they do fairly often. So while there is an upfront cost (and for Tier III it can be quite hefty), you'll soon find yourself with a nice stockpile that you just need to top up periodically. I think I have aroud 500 of every thing that I routinely use. That just leaves the repair cost, if your're shot down. Don't get shot down, no repair costs :) I can't imagine leaving the ordnance at home anymore. My 2nd (I think) most flown class is heavies (it's Corvus' fault - he was intstrumental, along with a few others, in helping me master the P-38F, and I've been in love with heavies ever since, and for the heavies I fly that don't have ordnance I feel naked. I do think there is a general lack of understanding of how the game works and what it takes to win for new players. I know if it wasn't for the folks on the (now inactive) forums and the members of my clan, who have and continue to give me valuable advice, I'd probably still be wondering why I racked up 20K personal points yet lost the game. Unfortunately, as most of have found it, not all players are open to recommendations on how to improve. And I agree, the quarterlies....err, dailes need to be seriously reworked, and make tokens available to players in Period I to prevent them rushing up the tiers.
It’s good to talk about this stuff because we need to keep this game fun and enjoyable. The worst thing is bad sportsmanship, imho. There’s some guys that are just jerky.. and there’s no need for it. But I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s good practice to not write anything in chat, even though it’s welling up.. Just makes things worse. I’m working on a method of gentlemanly play. For instance, if our team gets superiority and we’re just a few points from winning, I’m not going to kill the red player.. why do I need to do that? We already won, and I’m not being targeted by him, just pass the opportunity. Stuff like that
Yep, that's the best policy. Even when I have civil conversations, I'm almost always disappointed by the flawed reasoning ("I can't afford rockets"). So just moving on is the best policy! 🙂
Others have talked about MRFs that don't really benefit from having or using ordnance, and the list is long, including USSR multiroles, so not taking it is sometimes a benefit for the team. Not so much with the Hawker or U.S. Navy lines. And not at all with the U.S. Republic line. Toss up on the Focke Wulf line. I personally do have a side quest with MRFs. Between elite and specialization, I fly clean, and I try and shoot down as many red planes as possible. The spec grind for some multiroles is long and tedious, and some of those planes just aren't much good without specialization. I'm looking at you, Seahawk. This is not the players' fault. This is Persha's fault for designing the specialization conditions this way. Just like dailies, IMO.
I just got the Seahawk and I like it more than the Tempest. I think it’s gonna be a good addition to the hangar.. sold the Tempest back. Not strong enough at a tier that has really changed and you need real power now
You absolutely will not make more creds for hitting with prem ammo in tanks. Some rounds cost 5000+ creds each and do not do enough damage to make 5000 creds from the 300-400 damage they may do. This is assuming you actually pen the shot, rng is unforgiving in tanks. Full aim, showing green for pen and it bounces, or crits but no damage, or just deviates by an absurd amount. Hitting doesn't guarantee damage. Some lower tier tanks do 40 damage and cost 800 creds, they do not balance out. I'm a mediocre player at best and very conservative with prem ammo and I barely make creds at tier 5-6. Premium account, cred boosters, and 50k profit is about my absolute best in a game lol. Now, planes, no excuses. They throw creds at you, I'm a noob and I'm drowning in credits.
That's not quite what I said. You will not make *more* credits by shooting premium ammo. As an aside, I was not thinking about the autocannons and autoloaders premium rounds, you are right, those are definitely priced differently! And you can lose credits because of other consumables or a loss, for sure. But what I am saying is that if you are in a standard gun tank and you land a damaging shot with your premium shell, you will make back the cost of the shell and then some, unless something has changed in the last year since I've left the game. When I did the calcs a few years ago I think you needed 80% accuracy on premium shells to break even. Basically if you spent 100k on 10 shells, and you landed 8 damaging shots, you would get around break even with the cost of the shells: get roughly 100k from those shots (its variable with damage). Land 7 or less and you lose money, land 9 or 10 and you make money. To your overall point here in Warplanes though (and mine really), I think we both agree - the cost of the silver ammo is well worth it.
Unlike WOWP and WOWS, WOT absolutely has a wrecked economy for credits. Most games you do not make anything and often times you lose credits. I’ve stopped buying new tech tree tanks so that I can afford to play the ones I have.
That's a nice monologue. But you should take it easy. Even though it is a "team game", there are no teams. There are team based games, like clan wars in tanks, or Counter-Strike where teams are talking to each other. Here you are doing your best to gather your bots and try to win against enemies. Winning or losing depends on too many factors, that are not depend on you. I guess playing in flights can help. The higher the tier the smarter the bots too. And there are overpowered planes, and you better hope they are on your team, because people flying them make them win the game very fast. Also, light fighters at higher tiers are not usually that change the battle for the win, it's bombers, heavies, attackers and multi-roles sometimes. Or maybe it's on all tiers.. but on higher tiers there is so much speed on heavies, and bombs are so powerful, and maps look so small with those planes. Anyway, I prefer to play when mostly bots are around, or people that play like them, good players on my side don't let me get many points, and on enemy's side make it a lot harder to play. And multiroles now have special pylons, that you don't lose speed by adding bombs/rockets, just longer reload.
I appreciate the sentiment. But, I disagree. As someone who has played CW in tanks (heavily), the only difference is that the ability to coordinate is off the charts, whereas in random matches it is more fickle. And that's really the point. When players refuse to play the game, they not only don't coordinate (which wouldn't be anything odd in a random battle), but become a drag on the team, essentially playing for the enemy, and that ultimately is what is frustrating.
what the hell, this planes got a health bar???
