I played sax for 10 years straight and haven't picked up my tenor sax for the past 4ish years because I've been in pharmacy school and about to graduate with my doctorates. You've really motivated me to play again and have done so every day for the past month. Thanks for the amazing videos and the motivation to do what I love to do, which is playing sax! Your channel is very underrated and delivers quality knowledge!
I play tenor with a hard rubber E. Rousseau classic jazz mouthpiece with a 4 tip opening and can comfortably play four octaves on it and I’ve only been playing about a year and a half.
Greetings to you. It was a thrill to even realize that tenor saxophones have such a vast range! Your playing is awesome on all the mouthpieces. Thanks so much for helping me to understand better all of this. I very much appreciated this. Thanks. God bless you in Jesus' Name.
Review on Theo Wanne Durga would be interesting from SiIvalorsax. I have gone through A LOT of mpcs ( used V16 S #6 before that) over 30yrs and Durga 3 #7 is the best I have found. Works well on both rock and jazz without compromising the sound, not because of bright/dark qualities but the uniqiue quality of sound. Palm keys don’t get shrill altough high baffle mpc but large chamber. Ligature does not work, leaks and gives wrong reading , mine did anyway. V16 metal, Rovner Platinum, Selmer metal ligs fit Durga. Thanks for informational videos!
@@Sirvalorsax Think Leo P plays the Durga 3 on Bari. Heard someone else playtest the mouthpiece and it had some of Leo's sound inherently in there when he laid into it a bit.
Without the ability to research information about these mouthpieces, I have stopped playing, buying and reviewing these types of mouthpieces. I also took down all my reviews for the ones I couldn't get information about. I made a new video and I went into detail about why
I got myself a yibuy for baritone. In the past I have never been able to pop out any altissimo with my Yani5 hard rubber mouthpiece, and with the yibuy, the altissimo C just popped out like that. There is a problem however, the bore is too wide it does not fit well on my neck. to overcome this I put some tape on the inside of the bore, but there must be a small leak, as now the normal range sounds really stuffy.
I love the comparisons of these great mouthpieces. What is the opening on the Sugal Tam in the video? I've several different pieces and they all give me a lot of resistance after the g. More practice i guess.
Dude amazing vid! I have two questions if you’ve got the time: 1: is there an optimum tip opening for altissimo? (I play an Otto Link 9 and I feel like my altissimo is progressing nicely for how much time I put into it but there’s always the chance I’m working too hard) and 2: what are your thoughts on Syos or other 3D printed pieces?
Thanks. I always try to get the lowest tip opening possible. I'm also using a lip-out embouchure which requires a lower tip opening and relaxes the amount of pressure needed to play altissimo
No leopard skin this time, but still a worthy video! Thanks! I'm starting right now to play altissimo with some kind of confidence on alto, my main instrument (not my first priority though), I'll make sure to check your older videos for inspiration...

Bro, this is amazing. I love your tone and technique. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you brother. Do you have a video that teaches fingering and throat position for the 4 octave B flat scale?
11:08 You know it's a nice mouthpiece when he puts on a whole tux to play it 😎

I was looking at one a while ago but I got the Shiva 2 instead. $750 is staggering! I am still curious about how the new Durgas play.
Sirvalorsax I can send you a 1.20 minute track if you want

Because of your review, I got my hands on a yibuy 8 tenor mouthpiece and my altissimo has improved greatly
