ik chloe moriondo said it already but this song really does capture what dissociation feels like. the steady beat and melody and the sound of apathy and numbness in robbie's voice and in the lyrics reflect the feeling of numbness. the music video is very weird: not *wrong* but it feels off enough to be uncomfortable, like something isn't right from the blankness of it, things aren't wrong but out of place and not entirely right. everyone experiences dissociation differently, but this song paired with the video perfectly capture dissociation to me. it's nice to come back and listen to this every once and a while and know i'm not alone when i feel like this.
Same, and it also describes how psychosis feels like for me aswell (the mildly distorted state of everything, the actions that in retrospect don't fully make sense, the way the lyrics aren't fully coherent and even contradictory, thats how situations, what i think, and so on are when im in psychosis. Things make sense to me at the time but when i look back after gaining outside perspective i see that it was distorted and how. Things i think in that time aren't fully coherent, there's gaps, but i can't tell its condractory or doesn't make sense until later. For me, when i am in psychosis all my emotions are dialed up and it effects my thinking, thats what takes over instead of rationality.

this whole music video gives off vibes of pain, suffering, sleep deprivation, and wanting to give up and I don't want to say it's relatable but it really is. and that's why I love your music so much, because it's so easy to relate to and the words go deeper than just what they are.

I like how he pictures that he becomes a hero not only for Caspar, but also for himself. Symbolised by his cape protecting him from the cold. This guy is so strong for recognising that things will be alright on his own, and I admire him so much. Also loved the aesthetics of the rooftop(?) scene, they were so meaningful to me, having experienced dissociation myself.
I love this song so much. Not just because of the visuals and the interesting incorporation of the bass into the camera work, but because it captures perfectly what I mean when I say I space out. I don't like to go so far as to say I dissociate, but I think it's in the same realm at least. I have no expression on my face, I just feel limp, and like I need to lie back on my bed and stare at the ceiling for years. Sometimes I make random sounds and say words to just make sure I can still talk, and a lot of the time, these words make it into my music. It makes me feel like a catatonic toddler, but it happens a lot and this song helps me reflect on it when I'm out of the "funk". Thank you for this masterpiece. 💛🌻

Here's my theory... This is all tied in with the song Green that was also on this album. Okay so, in Green Robin talks about how he got flowers that are "green and blue to match the pictures." Then in the chorus he explains how "you look so good in green. I hope you're well. And you look so good with him. And I'm proud of you still." So how does this tie in with Pigeon, you ask? Well in this song Robin says that he's "Circling around the kitchen." and that "Nothing changed." Now, because we know that he said "You look so good with him" we can infer that Robin went through a breakup. (Obviously Koruu, but what else?) So, he says "Feeling pretty fake when I wake up" meaning that he feels fake, feels defeated, and feels like nothing goes his way. He then says "Scaly little friends got my back up" meaning that he only has these scaly little friends (probably referencing Caspar) left. In the chorus he says "Didn't give me time to say goodbye in the way that I wanted to. That means that he wanted to say more but the person he got in a breakup with didn't let him. That goes back to where he says "feeling pretty fake when I wake up" because he feels fake and defeated. In the next line he says "Stay like you're supposed to do." He didn't want this girl to leave. He didn't want her to go but he has to get over it. In the second verse he says "Fuzzy feeling and I miss you." Meaning that he obivously misses her. "Stupid head I'm gonna kill you" meaning his anxiety is through the roof and that he's thinking he's not good enough. "Melt all your art and drink the paint" meaning he wants somebody (Probably the girls new boyfriend) to, well, die. "I am not a beast I'm not a monster" means that his ex is accusing him of thing and with that he is denying it or it means that his mind is making him think he's not good enough and that he's just a monster and he is denying himself. "I don't care what you say" meaning that he doesn't care what other people say he's not a monster. "You can't have the bad guys without a hero, and I'm the only one who's got a cape." that means that well... He's gone crazy... and he's denied it too much. And then the chorus rolls around again and now he's starting to realize he was wrong. "Don't know how I'm gonan live with that... But I'll stay strong for you" means that he is finally realizing he needs to move on. Okay, now back to the song Green. What's talked about in Green actually happens after what's talked about in Pigeon. In green he wants his ex to be happy. He wants her to forget about him and move on. "Mess in the kitchen" refers back to Pigeon where he was "Circling around the kitchen" probably where they had an aguement or something. (Side note: In the Pigeon video there are pots and pans and other kitchen related things scattered all over the place.) "I was so dissapointed" probably means that when he got angry that she left he made a mess and now he's dissapointed that he acted so childish. "I guess I got to my head" pretty much confirms my theory there. "And I was too young to understand it" also confirms that. "I get it now that it's too late. I never stopped feeling guilty." again he feels guilty about driving her away, making a mess, and beeing so childish. "I'm over it, I promise that." what he's saying there means that he's over the breakup and he won't bother her again. "I just gotta sing it out of me" is just saying what I was saying. Chorus... And now "Take care of my shirt warm and red" means that he gave her a shirt and it was warm and he wants her to take care of it... (That was obvious) "I hope you think of me still as your friend" meaning he still wants to be friends. "I hope you love yourself, your body and heart. And I hope you feel happy, that's all I want" I saying that he wants her to be happy and love herself. BUT HEY THAT'S JUST A THEORY! A MUSIC THE- Oh... Wrong thing... (Edit: 9 months later and I’m still getting likes... so, thanks. Anyways, a lot of people are talking about how Robbie is aromantic and I already knew that, but this is just supposed to be a fictional world that he portrays in his songs... sorry to disappoint.) (Edit 2: An entire year and here we are. So, first, thanks for all the likes and responses. I love this song so much. Not just because of the visuals and the interesting incorporation of the bass into the camera work, but because it captures perfectly what I mean when I say I space out. I don't like to go so far as to say I dissociate, but I think it's in the same realm at least. I have no expression on my face, I just feel limp, and like I need to lie back on my bed and stare at the ceiling for years. Sometimes I make random sounds and say words to just make sure I can still talk, and a lot of the time, these words make it into my music. It makes me feel like a catatonic toddler, but it happens a lot and this song helps me reflect on it when I'm out of the "funk". Thank you for this masterpiece. 💛🌻

Here's my theory...
This is all tied in with the song Green that was also on this album.
Okay so, in Green Robin talks about how he got flowers that are "green and blue to match the pictures." Then in the chorus he explains how "you look so good in green. I hope you're well. And you look so good with him. And I'm proud of you still." So how does this tie in with Pigeon, you ask? Well in this song Robin says that he's "Circling around the kitchen." and that "Nothing changed." Now, because we know that he said "You look so good with him" we can infer that Robin went through a breakup. (Obviously Koruu, but what else?) So, he says "Feeling pretty fake when I wake up" meaning that he feels fake, feels defeated, and feels like nothing goes his way. He then says "Scaly little friends got my back up" meaning that he only has these scaly little friends (probably referencing Caspar) left. In the chorus he says "Didn't give me time to say goodbye in the way that I wanted to. That means that he wanted to say more but the person he got in a breakup with didn't let him. That goes back to where he says "feeling pretty fake when I wake up" because he feels fake and defeated. In the next line he says "Stay like you're supposed to do." He didn't want this girl to leave. He didn't want her to go but he has to get over it. In the second verse he says "Fuzzy feeling and I miss you." Meaning that he obivously misses her. "Stupid head I'm gonna kill you" meaning his anxiety is through the roof and that he's thinking he's not good enough. "Melt all your art and drink the paint" meaning he wants somebody (Probably the girls new boyfriend) to, well, die. "I am not a beast I'm not a monster" means that his ex is accusing him of thing and with that he is denying it or it means that his mind is making him think he's not good enough and that he's just a monster and he is denying himself. "I don't care what you say" meaning that he doesn't care what other people say he's not a monster. "You can't have the bad guys without a hero, and I'm the only one who's got a cape." that means that well... He's gone crazy... and he's denied it too much. And then the chorus rolls around again and now he's starting to realize he was wrong. "Don't know how I'm gonan live with that... But I'll stay strong for you" means that he is finally realizing he needs to move on. Okay, now back to the song Green. What's talked about in Green actually happens after what's talked about in Pigeon. In green he wants his ex to be happy. He wants her to forget about him and move on. "Mess in the kitchen" refers back to Pigeon where he was "Circling around the kitchen" probably where they had an aguement or something. (Side note: In the Pigeon video there are pots and pans and other kitchen related things scattered all over the place.) "I was so dissapointed" probably means that when he got angry that she left he made a mess and now he's dissapointed that he acted so childish. "I guess I got to my head" pretty much confirms my theory there. "And I was too young to understand it" also confirms that. "I get it now that it's too late. I never stopped feeling guilty." again he feels guilty about driving her away, making a mess, and beeing so childish. "I'm over it, I promise that." what he's saying there means that he's over the breakup and he won't bother her again. "I just gotta sing it out of me" is just saying what I was saying. Chorus... And now "Take care of my shirt warm and red" means that he gave her a shirt and it was warm and he wants her to take care of it... (That was obvious) "I hope you think of me still as your friend" meaning he still wants to be friends. "I hope you love yourself, your body and heart. And I hope you feel happy, that's all I want" I saying that he wants her to be happy and love herself. BUT HEY THAT'S JUST A THEORY! A MUSIC THE- Oh... Wrong thing...
