    Y’all JB is our ruck club leader and really knows his stuff. Welcome to rucking to all of the newcomers who found this TH-cam.

    Great vid as always. Those sternum straps - using a multitool to install them makes it SO much easier!

    I like to keep a simple med kit in my ruck. If your out and about in the woods I feel like it’s a must.

      Yeah, I'm thinking of picking up those little straps for when my hands feel swollen especially in my Arizona summers.

    Thank you so much for the helpful info!
    I was just about to order the bladder hose retainer now that it’s back in stock at Go Ruck, and also saw that they’re carrying a small caribiner to secure a hydration bladder inside the pack. Seems like that would be helpful, but had to ask if you’d recommend those to add to a Rucker?
    Thanks so much!

      ETA: the 4.0 doesn’t seem to have that second pocket that yours does. Wish it did! That looks like a better option for the bladder.

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 20L just has the one pocket. The 25L has two. And yes, a clip is helpful for the bladder depending on which bladder you use.

      @@JBOutside1 Ah, that makes sense, thank you! I have the 20L. Thanks again!

    Thanks for the tips! I think I just found a way to get the GR plates delivered in EU, so I’ll probably order my first rucker in the coming month. Curious to know, what activity are you using on your Garmin when rucking? Hiking? Fitness?
    Any useful new gear since you did this video? :)

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just use hiking or walking. It’s more about the displays you get out of the watch. There isn’t a great option for rucking. No real gear finds except a few different ruck straps. There are some links to options in my Bullet Rucker video I just released.

    Curious (a little off message from video)....what is better for urban hiking in forest, 5 to 10 miles? Female, 5'6," 130 1lbs...a bag like an Osprey, Mystery Ranch, Gregory or GR1 21L, Hill People, Kifaru? Comfort is critical (sensitive back shoulders, neck). Light carry, not a Rucker (never say never), no animals will be hurt during trek, no to camping.

      @JBOutside1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ve got a lot of great choices on your list. I think it comes down to how much you’re carrying. For light hikes I use a bullet ruck or cross-body sling. If you need full-load capacity then it will be personal preference and you’d have to wear all these options. Stepping up in capacity I’d use my Radio Ruck

    I have an OLD ruck (medium ALICE pack without frame from 1984). I want to stay cheap, advice on how to wear the weight?

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don’t have an ALICE, but the advice is the same regardless of the pack. The higher up the weight is in your back the better. It’s also best to have the weight secured or cinched down. Sandbags, books, water bottles make great starting weights. Weight plates from a barbell set or even dumbbells can be used. Originally we used bricks and I used a yoga block in the bottom of the bag to raise the weight higher. Hope this helps!!

      Sleeve: Triple Aught Design Transport Sleeve. What do you want the strap to do?
