Thank you EWTN, I was the guy at the 1.05 minute mark as I stood in front of the relic for my quick prayer. Of all those wonderful people there, I was honored to be one of the few people selected for this video. God bless you all, St Jude saint of impossible causes, pray for us!

Thank you Father Martins for getting the wonderful relic out to missionary territory, as we're starved for Catholic culture out here, and really don't get wonderful moments like this.

If one learns the misfortune of Captain Cook, there are some bizarre similarities in terms of the rationale the islanders killed him, cooked away his flesh, and distributed his bones to the tribes on the island. The captain’s crew watching from their ship were horrified that this apparent cannibalistic process occurred. Yet, the true intention of the islanders was their perception that Captain Cook was a deity and keeping his ‘relics’ conveyed supernatural benefits to the tribes. These primitive people had a sense of the supernatural spirit world, but were not comprehending that Captain Cook was just a man like them, albeit with impressive capabilities from the western world. The big difference is obviously the history and tradition of sharing holy relics of confirmed saints and their undying faith and confidence in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost that was unshaken. Perhaps Captain Cook was enjoying the ‘worship’ bestowed undeservedly upon him and he paid the price for his pride. Holy Catholic Saints of history received their status by merit and unwavering devotion to God. Unlike Captain Cook, they were elevated by their humility. It’s an interesting contrast for otherwise objective similarities.
Please look into these historical records more thoroughly, since I am paraphrasing my impressions and for some reason Captain Cook’s demise came to mind. It’s a fascinating comparison of the human appreciation of the supernatural and human devotion to the power of the unseen forces operating in the world around us.
Not all primitive tribes remained ‘pagan’. Many converted to Catholicism from the work of the missionaries teaching the Good News.
Don’t take my word, seek the truth and discern your own impressions. God bless your efforts.
