    I've started re-twisting with just water lately since watching your videos and I love it! My scalp is no longer as itchy and less build up! I use a little oil like you do and go for it!

      Hi Ashley, how long does your retwist keep without product? I'm considering doing the same

    i usually use a moistorizing shampoo after a clarifying because it puts the moisture back into the locs/ hair

    His hair is gorgeous, wish more black men do their hair and have healthy long hair. This conforming to European, not normal and black men have gorgeous hair but force to shave it. Ridiculousness.

      +Ziggy Tafari I don't leave in US but when I visited, not many were that I saw. In UK now, many, include my brother has shave hair and I almost cry when my sister in law cut my nephews hair, those boys have the cutiest long afro.

    Thank you for this video, when I do my retwist in a week I'm going to do water only. I hate how no matter what product for retwisting I buy, even if it's labelled "anti-buildup" or "no buildup" when my hair gets wet I can still see it white all up in my hair. This is definitely the way to go, thank you!

    • @tyharris3263
      @tyharris3263 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ty Harris also have you noticed any difference on how long a retwist with product lasts vs one with water?

    • @DXlocs
      @DXlocs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ty Harris exactly! My grandmother told me not to believe everything I read when I start learning to read lol and it last just as long if not longer for me bc the scalp is cleaner vs when it has all the product on it

  • @Windsingerful
    @Windsingerful 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great job, DXLYN! I was worried that for my hair type, a water only retwist wouldn't work... but I tried it last time (well, I made sure I had oil on my hands), and then 2strand instead of clipping, and it stayed very good. Next time, I'll try with clips... If it's as successful, it's GOOD BYE loc'ing gel FOREVAH!

    • @DXlocs
      @DXlocs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Windsingerful that's so awesome to read! and Yes NO MORE GEL! you wont regret giving it up. I'm so happy for you and your locs!

      How long did your hair keep for without product??
      I'm reeeallyyy considering doing the same because O have major product buildup

    • @abrown1306
      @abrown1306 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DXLYN locs I'm thinking of giving up my locking gel due to a serious case of product buildup.
      I've tried the acv + baking soda rinse first, but I think the baking soda made it more visible. THEN tried Neutrogena anti residue shampoo AND Dawn lol, neither did the trick &&I'm sooo frustrated.
      Im open to try anything else at this point if u have any ideas

    • @DXlocs
      @DXlocs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +A. Brown same as with product. Sometimes longer bc there's no build up

    • @DXlocs
      @DXlocs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +DXLYN locs as for removing the build-up just give up products and keep washing as usually. I will diminish over time. This happens with my new clients all the time.

    Use of shampoos especially cheap harsh shampoos are not a good idea to use on locs.

    • @DXlocs
      @DXlocs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Val Goins noted. What may work for one may not work for another. I've used shampoo all throughout my 5 year journey and it gets my hair clean. Which is my goal. Many ppl don't like cheap shampoo not realizing the main ingredient is the same in the 30$ one but I love them.

      Using a clarifying shampoo works great to keep locs cleansed, if you want a purely natural product that does the same thing and also pulls the lint out of the locs bringing it closer to the surface, try bentonite clay. There are videos on youtube of people doing it on locs. You just have to make the mixture watery and rinse well, but it does leave your locs really soft and leaves your scalp clean...I love that you didn't use products. That's awesome and much better for locs.
