Bro THANK YOU for washing the client’s head. So many barbers are getting top dollar but aren’t providing quality services.
I went to hairdresser who didn’t wash my hair before cutting & I asked why & she said I didn’t ask for a wash & cut! Um I thought it was part of cutting hair!
I argue this all the time. This is an on-time comment. Who pays a barber $75+ and there is no wash at all? Makes no sense...
He's showing respect
People need to learn personal hygiene
@@Elizabeth-rq1viSo you got exactly what was requested? How rude 😂
This poor man MUST have been struggling with that dry, probably itchy scalp. Kudos to you for your patience and commitment to helping him to a happier, healthier outcome.
I’m a nurse and I was gulping big. However, I appreciate that your client allowed you to tape this so others can see that this isn’t not a healthy scalp. You did a great job!
Not like hes a little kid. If youre a grown ass man with a dry itchy dirty scalp, WASH IT ! its basic common sense.
@@mteokay1246I'm with you. There are so many hair and scalp care products available. People need to take of their heads.
No one told him to grow his hair out like a woman and not take care of it
Probably itchy? Stanky. Pillow cases funky. I could go on and on but my fur baby ready to go outside.
I don't venture to this side of TH-cam often, but the narration held my interest to the end. It's a delicate balance to express your feelings while maintaining your client's dignity. Fantastic storytelling and barbering skills.
I feel for this man. I have psoriasis however it’s managed with medications right now. When I was in flares it was embarrassing to seek beauty treatments of any kind due to people judging and not understanding it’s a medical condition and not contagious. Thank you for taking such great care of him.
Exactly. I've had it for over 40 yrs in varying degrees. So many people have it, yet so many people still seem so ignorant & uneducated about it. People saying they had some particular shampoo & it cleared up, it was very very unlikely to be psoriasis. It can be managed for periods of time, it can even come & go for a while, but it's still incurable at the moment. there's still a depressing amount of snake oil sellers out there making a killing from it, becasue when you have it, you can get desperate to try anything.
Agreed! I treated mine at home apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil and a good medicated shampoo. I havent had a flare up in over 10 years.
@@taraking8555 Holistic...they way to go
@@taraking8555 would that work for eczema and what did you do?
@leahblevins9202 Yes it should. I purchased a medicated shampoo. You can buy from your local pharmacy. Tea tree oil and acv from the grocery store. Added acv and water to a spray bottle would saturate my hair and sit for 15 mins, be sure to dilute the acv with water. Straight acv stings like HELL on your scalp. After 15 min, I would wash twice with the medicated shampoo and add the tea tree oil to my scalp for another 15 mins, then rinse out. I repeated this for 3months straight every couple days, not every day cause acv will dry your scalp out. Hope it helps you and clears your problem up as well.
Your openness and honesty while still being kind and considerate is so refreshing. Subbed!
THANK YOU!
Unisex hairdresser from UK here, that de bulking with the #3 guard would have had me in a panic at that point!, you're so talented!!👏 taking notes!! Lol.
I love when people are passionate and knowledgeable about the work they do
Literally said almost word-for-word the same comment. He is going to be very successful as a barber
The scalp needed to be washed with a medicated shampoo and the scalp needed to be treated. Whoever was doing his locks was not taking care of his hair or scalp.
He needed it all off and doctor referral for appropriate treatment...did no-one teach him about personal care?
Can you imagine the stink of that head.
he a whole grown man he chose that style, his hygiene aint nobody else responsibility. All the resources to show how to properly take care of ya nasty dreds are out there. he didnt care
@@MillzSznmaybe he suffers from depression and this is his first step. Hopefully he saw a dermatologist to help with his scalp too.
Listen. I have plaque Psoriasis and had it everywhere. It has not to do with hygiene. Our skin cells grow 3X faster than normal. Get dreads and for years he had prob a huge buildup. Honestly I would never get dreads. Hard on the scalp and hair.😊
Nice transformation!
Aww, I love that you let him cut off the last lock. I bet that felt so empowering for him!
EMPOWERING PLEASE! Cutting Off That Last Piece Of NASTY, NAPPY ROPE Isn't POWER ✂️
Empowering?? You can’t be serious. Cutting a piece of hair isn’t significant. He’s a grown man. Some of y’all need to get off that kiss a$$ shhh
@@mikechrisscorpio.2659 l am thinking that for someone's hair to get to that stage, he must have been a homeless person and couldn't take care of himself..not even to get it washed. WOW!! unbelievable!!

Love your work as well, as how you explain as you go. You were so good to this fellow. Wonderful job.
A+, I swear, it is so wonderful to see a well groomed man with short hair. Man, he looks so handsome. You did a great job. You should have a before and after picture at the end of your videos.
My gosh he is a good looking man!!! Gorgeous haircut/transformation. You are so detailed and work magic.
You did a great job. The client looks awesome and I love the tone of your voice. You are very relaxing to listen to.
You did a good job.!!!!🙂👍 Better you than me though, because I was itching the whole time I was watching this 😱 My Daughter had Periousis on her scalp when she was little, not this bad though. I had to take her to the Dermatologist and she gave her some Medicated Shampoo and oil she had to use. In about 6 Months it had cleared up. She started growing Dreads when she was 15, she is 31 now . She has never suffered from any more dry scalp. Thank God🙂🙏
He needs to see a dermatologist for psoriasis
Autoimmune disease is not that easy, people spend thousands on co-pays, infrared treatments, travel to the Dead Sea etc, all to try to cure psoriasis - my son has it on his arms. It's very painful!
Eczema.
@@voluntaryismistheanswer Aw I'm sorry to hear that. Try boric acid or you can do a mixture 1 part apple cider vinegar 1 part water rub it on his skin let it dry and then rub coconut oil on his arms. I hope this helps
I think this is a kind of dandruff people get from an autoimmune reaction to yeast. We all have yeast in our follicles. Some people have overpopulation, and the immune system reacts to it. The result is that the surrounding skin cells are also attacked. It causes this type of build-up. Antifungals, both oral and topical, can help this problem.
@@christymalekani4104yogurt... eating yogurt helps , regular eating of it will help with yeast 8n your body.

I'm a 50 year old white woman from England uk who fell upon your page! NICEEEEE JOB! ❤
I love to see barbers and beauticians put so much effort into their craft. It's a passion for them and this is beautiful too see. Great work.
I cut my locs a little over a year ago after growing them 16 years because my scalp was doing this exact same thing. Huge flakes of skin and buildup coming from my scalp. I still deal with it from time to time but not as bad when I had locs. I, also, have sort of hair thinning. I'm thinking this is a result of my weight gain and health issues over the last couple years. You did a very good job on his cut.
You probably have seborrheic dermatitis. A dermatologist can help you get rid of that
I had the same thing with short hair. I lot of dry patchy spots on my scalp and thinning. I used Eucerin Aquaphor, you can get it from any drug store or even Walmart or Target. It is normally for cracked dry skin on the feet and body. I used to use it for my feet and it worked wonders. I started using it in my hair and I love it. I also used a treatment of putting on dandruff shampoo before I get in the shower and let it sit for about five minutes before I shampoo and wash it out. I don't touch Dax or Ultra Sheen as it isn't really an ointment like Aquaphor. I hope that helps you.
I had seborrheic dermatitis. I stopped all forms of sugar and reduced my carb intake and now after 6 months I no longer suffer from it plus I lost a lot of weight 👍🏽
Most times it the food we eat that causes us issues.
Pardon my ignorance, can people with locs wash their hair?
@@roxcyn Great question and well put as most people don't know. By far I know most of my Rastafarian friend wash their locs but its more of a natural process and not regularly. When I say natural, not with Head and Shoulders but more a mix of old passed down methods that don't contain all the horseshit for a lack of a better word someone like I would use. I am guilty of the worst type of hygiene as Irish Spring body wash is my go-to even though I know that it contains so many types of chemicals that cannot be possibly good for me. But in short washing your hair regularly is not good for the hair to begin with for anyone.
I have Psoriasis and when it gets in the scalp it's painful! I feel for this man because if he's dealing with any type of skin issue his poor scalp probably hurts. I'm sure he's much happier with the short cut

You basically gave him excellent skin/scalp care. You showed him the possibilities. He will probably be quite pleased to continue good skin care. This is really wonderful.💖
I use the same method for my fades. I love how you treat each person as a different challenge. No one has exactly the same thing. Everyone’s different. The thickness, the way their hair grows, and the patchiness. You are a master at what you do and is a joy watching you.
Love a man who has passion for his work! You truly are an artist. Respect.
I use apple cider vinegar to remove scale. Then I wash. You may have to use vinegar a couple of washes for it to dissolve dead skin. Maui Moisture Shampoo works the best for not irritating the scalp. Olive oil, Shea butter, Amla oil, or Argan oil help. I stopped drinking milk and almost gave up dairy completely. Castille soap is good for sensitive skin also. Great job.
I’m currently in the process of trying to convince my husband to cut his locks. He’s had them for 13 years but they are unkept and to be honest I don’t think he knows how to properly maintain. I just know he would look amazing and cleaner with a different look. I hate how that makes me sound. But this is his hair journey and I’m here to support him. I just worry because the build up is SERIOUS ☹️
I don't think it makes you sound bad at all, you genuinely care. I think he'd feel better if he got them taken care of. He can always do them again but better next time. A new look makes everyone feel better. (:

You did an absolutely FANTASTIC job on the client's hair. He should probably see a dermatologist for his scalp issues.
If you don't mind a word of advice, cocoa butter is good for dry skin but... you appear to be dealing with a scalp condition. I know that Sulphur 8 conditioner would help
greatly. Also selsum blue shampoo on a bi-weekly bases could calm those scales and patches.Use it on your side burns and beard too. Be careful not to get it in your eyes.
After using the Sulphur 8,you can cover it at night, so as not to have a smelly pillow. But I promise you a better scalp after a few weeks. Good luck young man!

Great video!! Thank you for your professionalism and education on this amazing transformation
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree yo ❤ I’ve searched for 10+ years to help my clients and it’s the only thing that works for them! Tell them to use it at least 3 days a week. Let it sit on their scalp for a few minutes until they’re done washing their body and rinse well! Game changer! You can use it in your shop as well. But you’d have to shave beards etc first. Key is to let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse. Works better than anything else on the market for 9/10 of my clients. Of course, everyone is different! It cost around $28 a bottle. But it’s worth it! Love ❤️ your work ❤
Paul Mitchell TT is the ish! It did wonders for my itchy scalp. I used to have crusty patches and used stuff like T-Sal and Nizoral but Paul Mitchell worked the best.
Great result Gamechanger. That first haircut after a major transformation, you take what you can get (within reason of course), especially when the customer is new. Those next two haircuts won't work you as hard. Happy new year sir.
The skill, the knowledge, the passion, the artistry ❤
Thank you!!!
That was so cool to watch. What a huge transformation, both emotionally and physically. I loved watching the care you took with this client. What a great job!. Not merely a skill, but an art - with geometry. (I bet you were good in math.) Don't you just love random TH-cam channel discoveries? Thanks! :)

I can’t wear braids for too long because my scalp gets itchy. You did an excellent job and with such care.
I have dreads and my scalp use to be like this but not this bad. So I went to a dermatologist and now I use KETOCONAZOLE shampoo. It works wonders. I barely see it now. I also use triamcinolone ointment on my scalp, it has steroids in it.
What brand
@@ronaldnavarre7572 Ketoconazole is the Brand name for the shampoo, the only way you can get it is through a prescription.
Is it eczema?
@@TheAutumnWind_RN4L nah it’s not…

Ketoconazole is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.Ketoconazole 2% shampoo is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs.

I love watching your videos because I learn so much. I’m not a hairdresser, it has helped me understand what my students are going through and talking about
As someone who suffered from chronic exema for over two decades, it sure looks like that and not psoriasis. Exema is miserable and with thick hair or matting, it's far worse. It burns and itches and bleeds builds up again as the buildup is removed or sluffed off. Thanks for helping this gentleman!
That was a serious transformation! I like the fact that you said you can’t compare two different peoples cuts. Every client is different. The fact that you know that shows you are a Barber, not just cutting hair at great clips.
I’ve got locs and I just can’t imagine having that kind of build up!! At this point I’m at a loss , is it the locs or the maintenance?
His scalp is the problem. He needs to see a dermatologist then whoever did his locs didn’t care about his hair. That’s what I hate about these outta the bathroom loc doers. Anyone can slap gel on ur hair and twist it but that doesn’t make them a loctitian.

Your work was very interesting and eye opening. Thank you for sharing, and thank you to your client.
You changed that king's life. God bless you
Wow, you've done an amazing job with this client. I really feel what was going on for you in your head & in your voice over. Very descriptive. I worked as a barber & hairdresser. I still remember that one client who had such a damaged scalp. Bits of skin were blocking up my comb. He wouldn't let me wash his hair & when I hit it with a water spray, man the stale nicotine smell in his hair hit me! It was so difficult could get through it, so I get how you had a goal line to get to.
Now he will be able to give his scalp care all the nurturing it needs.
Your lines & frame of the face & back of his neck were highly commendable. Great work indeed!! 💯👏🏽
This was my first time watching your channel. Yikes! Your cut was great and I appreciated your narration. I have read that for locs and braids, people need to clean their scalps regularly with an apple cider vinegar solution, diluted with water. There is a certain ratio of water to vinegar, but that information can be determined with a little more research. The solution cleanses, balances the pH, and exfoliates the scalp. I hope that client goes to a dermatologist for the proper diagnosis.
Great result. The clean, precise edging really makes it.
Yo it's almost 6am EST. I had to pause the video and go wash my own hair after seeing that.
Great Job! The cut & line enhanced his facial features. Good looking Man.
Maaan butter him up before you send your brand out the door all dry like that. Excellent work though.
You truly have patience and SKILLS!!!!! Job well done
This is why wearing locks may not be a good idea 😕
25 years ago I had the worst dry scalp ever. Flakes for days. Itching scalp. You name it. It was inexplicable as it was excruciating at times. I visited a Supercuts in the neighborhood of my then girlfriend. There was black woman who owned the franchise location cutting hair there. I am so glad I walked into her shop and sat in her chair that day. Truly.
What she did for me that day changed my grooming habits and helped me heal my scalp forever. Here's what she told me.
1. Stop washing your hair in hot water. It damages the scalp by rinsing away natural oils. Hot water can also cause scalding damage to the scalp. The body responds to that damage by essentially molting or shedding the skin off. Leaving you with, you guessed it, an itchy scalp you then scratch, which causes more damage and lead to scalp flakes. Only wash your hair in lukewarm water.
2. Learn to stop scratching your scalp with your fingernails. Though it may be visually imperceptible, it's like dragging razors across your scalp. Again, if the skin is damaged the body triggers it to shed so that new skin can regrow in its place. The shedding skin becomes scalp flakes. She held up her hand and directed me to the grooves of the fingerprints on my fingers. She told me to use them instead to rub any area that may become irritated if I must put my hands into my head. Skin rubbing skin versus skin versus fingernails. This also applies to hair combs, hair picks, and hard bristled brushes. Get rid of them. Buy combs with larger rounded edges that won't scrap the scalp as it's combing through the hair. Soft bristle brushes instead of hard ones.
3. During the healing process, about 30 days, use a Teatree based shampoo daily. It will kill skin fungus on the scalp, while also soothing the damaged scalp while a new layer of skin is growing.
I haven't had an itchy scalp or scalp flakes since. So nowadays when I see young men and women with similar scalp flake problems, I tell them my experience and how I solved it with the help of a sista who owned a Supercuts in a part of town I would never have ventured to had I not been dating a woman who lived in the neighborhood.
Love and light people. Pass it on.
Tea tree is the best!!! Glad you mentioned this antiseptic!
