I just noticed, around the 22:40 mark, you could notice that the first ink color shown there was orange and blue, then green and pink, and lastly violet and yellow, all of which were the main colors of each splatoon game 🥹
Okay… so let me get this straight. With the help of a squid, an octopus and a mantra ray, all a part of a singing group, you ride a shark into space, then, with the help of an octopus DJ and a giant salmon, use an oversized vacuum clearer to stop a bear from using a rocket to basically end all life on earth and replace it with new life. *It's beautiful*
I originally thought the approach of Mr Grizz just being an “evil businessman who wants to destroy the environment for profit” was a generic villain motivation, but the final secret log was a good explanation of his real motivations. Also, captain cuttlefish as a realistic dried squid was very “wtf” for me.

i do like how Mr. Grizz is like, exceedingly polite in a corporate sort of way, even when telling you exactly how he's going to kill you. it's very fun and its own level of menacing.
I really like the meaning behind which species you play. If your an Inkling than this is more or less the first big moment of unity between the two people, but as an octoling your people, the people who have been on the losing side of history basically all there lives, finally get there shot to prove themselves.

In the past two games between octavio and cuddlefish everything was about what was rightfully whos, but now that Mr Grizz is threatening their lives they realized that they only have one earth and that they need to band together and keep what's theirs
as someone who has played since splatoon on the wii u, 11:04 legit made me tear up. heaing the vocals kick in, seeing Calamari Incantation 3MIX in the bottom corner, octavio FINALLY getting a rendemption arc, and with lil-buddy a s c e n d i n g to the heavens, its just.... so good
I love that in the previous two games, hearing Calamari Incantation meant instant defeat to Octavio. But for this game, he is on our side. So as soon as it kicks in, he is thinking "Oh you are so screwed".

The fact Mr. Grizz is still floating about intact in the end credits just provides proof the DLC may expand on this idea. Plus if anything this entire story mode opened an entire can of lore opened; Sunken Scrolls providing random lore, Alterna Logs blatantly revealing the end of one species to birth another, and this entire boss fight, from the Fuzzy Ooze to how Grizzco is called the "Ursine Anomaly #3". If he's the third, where's the other two, and what even is he. Point being, this is a great time to be a Splatoon fan, especially when you're an enthusiast of the lore, AND a profreshional Salmon Run worker
Grizz is called that because he was originally known as “Bear #03” on the Ark Polaris, a giant spaceship meant to preserve the species of Earth. “Mr. Grizz” is just an alias he used to avoid suspicion when he founded Grizzco as a front for his Fuzzy Ooze production.
Inklings, octarians and salmonids working together to bring down an alien threat to their world is the perfect way to end a story mode. Splatoon really just keeps going uphill.

Was really hoping for a reconciliation between him and cuttlefish at the end. For a trilogy-ending story mode it just kinda… ends. Kinda lackluster honestly.
He's basically there for his people if it means working together with his sworn enemies to save them he'll do it. I imagine that he's even willing to let his grudge go if it means salvation for the octarians.

Ruins of Ark Polaris was a Salmon Run map in Splatoon 2. I’m sure there’s many more connections yet to be found in just this boss battle. I love the amount of detail that has gone into this game!
The sense of chaos and almost absurdity of this final fight really shows the reason why Splatoon is Splatoon. A mash of so many rather disconnected ideas coming together to make a game so off-the-rails but presented in a cool, refreshing way that makes me grin like an idiot. Splatoon doesn’t have to be realistic all the time, it just needs to be fun and it has that in spades.
All Mr. Grizz wanted was for the Earth to be as it used to be: inhabited by mammals. But thanks to the heroism of the Squidbeak Splatoon, he finally understood the hardest thing to accept: life is made of changes, and the only way to ensure a brighter future is to let go of the past and move foward.
I think we all knew Mr. Grizz was gonna be the villain. The game itself still looks really awesome, though. Edit: Holy carp, I did *not* expect my comment to become this popular!
I think the DLC will have something to do with Marina and Perla's word tour, at the end deep cut says that they would like to open the world tour of the squid sisters and (SPOILER) in the post-credits scene gramps says that this adventure was like a world tour , it can't be a coincidence right? maybe I'm just overanalyzing things, but anyways I hope deep cut and the squid sisters are in the DLC, loved them in this game!
I imagine that in the dlc marina disappears and we have the mission to find her, why? because she lost in the last splatfest, Just like Callie lost the last Splatfes and in Splatoon 2 she disappeared, you understand me right?
@@Isidora2.0 wait that actually sounds like a good idea, after their world tour marina suddenly disappears and pearl would try to find her with the help of the agents 8 and 4 , and so they have to comeback to all the places they visited, but I don't think they will do that since its very similar to the story of splatoon 2 (and I think the DLC will have something to do with the salmons)
There's also a mention of the Great Zapfish looking different after beating Hero Mode, so maybe that could factor in? Or it's just a random thing, who knows. I'm excited for the DLC either way!
i know some people were disappointed with the final act, but i love how off the rails it gets. also dj octavio swooping in to save the day with his mech and the calamari inkantation remix had me grinning like an idiot the whole time.
I am one of those who was disappointed, the whole final act just felt underwhelming :( Don’t get me wrong I loved the campaign and playing through it, reading all the logs in anticipation for the final boss, but the final act kinda made me go “that’s it?” While I like the idea of Mr Grizz being the main antagonist his design kinda threw me off, I was expecting more rugged bear look than what we got which is basically a plush toy, kinda makes the whole thing less serious for me even though it shouldn’t as destroying the whole world is pretty high stakes I love the idea of Octavio helping but he just kind of jumps in last minute after not being seen anywhere throughout the story, I feel if he and cuttlefish were trapped together within those radio call cutscenes we could’ve gotten some really fun dialogue of them butting heads with one another on finding a way to escape while also giving him a more deserving redemption arc Lastly I feel Deep Cut was put to the side tbh, they had some really fun boss fights and the cutscene we had with them in the beginning were fun but I feel this story mode should’ve put focus on them and not the squid sisters so we could get more screen time and know more about their character, basically the same way Pearl and Marina’s characters were much more developed in Octo Expansion I’m hoping the upcoming DLC Story for this game will be better, more on the league of octo expansion or somehow even better 😭

I didn’t expect this final at all. It’s just amazing how they linked the story to the co-op mode. So much feelings and nostalgia in this battle with the music. Dont’t forget of course about the main idea: you should never get stuck in the past… always move forward 😁
This is one of the greatest and most memorable video game finales of all time, on par with the likes of SA2, Uncharted 4, and Spider-Man PS4. This is the apex of Splatoon Single-Player content. When I played Splatoon 1 all the way back in 2015, I never thought I'd see the day that the franchise would go this far. I almost teared up once I saw the thank you for playing screen. This is my favorite video game trilogy of all time!
This was my first splatoon hero mode I finished and it was amazing. It made me cry and the song is soooo good at the end. I’ll never forget beating this hero mode ❤️

I honestly think story mode is so much more fun than online multiplayer. Now I want splatoon 4 to come out simply to see more! I love the world and the lore and everything !! Can’t wait for the DLC though

Good point with a quick idea to build on that. The Return of the Mammaliens would also indicate the return of humans. Maybe he's referring to how humanity would be understandably upset if they found out in order for them to return, all of the squid/octolings were wiped out.

This final boss was in shock, I love the cutscenes, I like how deep cut is helping, love dj octavio as an ally, and Iiked how the final boss was total wildness. The cuteness are incredible in the story mode, it's nothing compared to other splatoon games like this one, story mode has been always a problem, this is what one day I hoped, and the day actually HAPPENED!
This seems to be truly the end of Splatoon. Even DJ Octavio the main villan in Splatoon helped out to defeat Mr Grizz. It was fun playing this game, especially because at the Boss fight we heard a Calamari Inkingtation remix. Splatoon 3 Wave Goodbye was also a pretty good song too.
I really REALLY did not expect Mr grizz to have such cartoonish proportions and features, I was busy thinking up how terrifying he could look, or maybe that Nintendo designed him abit like Kirby and the forgotten lands animal faces, or maybe that he'd have a mask thing around the eyes XD
I really hope octavio gets expanded on as a character in dlc of next game. I'd like to see him come out of his "swim form" as nintendo says. Seeing him like in the scrolls would be cool
Am I the only one who hated deep cuts involvement? It felt like they were shoehorned in last minute for the boss just cuz they are the new idol group. I think the story would have just been better with the squidbeak splatoon and Octavio in the end boss.
I am so glad they took a page from Octo-expansion and made a far more entertaining story than the first two games. I love the Splatoon series and have been playing since day one, but until Octo the story had always been subpar. I will absolutely buy the dlc if it focuses on Off the Hook. Until then, Booyah!

Everyone involved was a hero in this fight. They all contributed something uniquely theirs to the battle and it's likely Grizz would have been unstoppable with any one of the forces against him missing. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you handle a world-scale threat.
What I expected: Mr. Grizz to have some degree of involvement with the 'mammalians' as they looked covered in ursine fur, and we know power eggs - which we collect for him - are used by octarians as a power supply, especially golden eggs. What I did not expect: Apocalyptic doomsday Kaiju battle in space. AND GREAT ZAPFISH I'M OKAY WITH THIS!!!
All Mr Grizz wanted was to bring mammals back sure the way he is doing it is wrong but nobody else seems to realize that there could be a good way to do it.
Even though Mr. Grizz was defeated he expressed no anger and even said something about the real world that was true. “Moving forward is the way of the future.”
Wave goodbye is so beautiful it brought back memories of my aunt. She passed away a while ago and this song made me remember and brought tears to my eyes as I sang
You know what would be a great final boss for splatoon 4? This: Mr Grizz and Commander Tartar team up and turn the NIHLS statue from Splatoon 2 into a giant robot, steal the great zapfish to power it, and then trudge toward inkopolis, hoping to destroy it Godzilla style. They are also accompanied by an army of octarians that are both fuzzy and sanitized following behind the robot. You have to chase down the giant robot using an upgraded superfast inkjet and fight through the army. Once you reach the statue, the inkjet is destroyed, forcing you to climb the robot (which is covered in traps, enemies, and foreign ink) on your own. then, on top of its head, you battle a robot inkling that has an arm that can transform into all sorts of different types of weapons. After destroying it, you're knocked off the top of the head and the robot is about to crush you under it's foot, but then all the sea creatures of inkopolis come out and start fighting the army as the calamari inkantion begins playing. The same sea creature energy that turned smallfry into hugefry at the end of Splatoon 3 then turns you into a giant equal in size to the Giant robot. You then wrestle it in a one-on-one fight, and finish it off using a giant Booyah bomb charged by the booyahs of all the denizens of Inkopolis that came out to fight the army in an epic finisher.
Spoilers for splatoon 3: something I haven’t seen people talk about is that when you kill mr grizz he has small glitchy effects on his body, could this mean mr grizz is still out there or is this a visual thing. Also after you beat the story if you go to the grizz co building the statue has changed, instead of it being a bear with a salmon in its mouth it’s the other way round
As soon as my objective was to jam my yellow self into large spherical growths on an oversized real life animal floating in space I just imagined Live and Learn in my head
I never knew I needed a giant teddy bear and a mosasaurus to get into a Kaiju battle, but apparently I did. I love Mr Grizz even more now, the idea we’re just working for a big teddy bear lol. I expected him to just eat little buddy lol. Maybe he’d get punched in the belly by DJ Octavius and he spit him out at the end.
Ok I just want to know how did bears of all mammals survive? Even water mammals like Dolphins,Whales, and Manatees, yes Manatees are mammals, were wiped out but not bears.
Mr Grizz is not a Real Bear , He's an AI , because it had Electricity when it was destroyed and there's some glowing robotic parts in first phase in the chest. Also Since when bears can shoot Fuzzy ink??? Grizz definitely it's an experiment of Humanity an Artificial intelligence.

i just beat the campaign the day after it came out so i wouldn’t get spoilers through youtube thumbnails, but this man made a thumbnail with no spoilers for once!! (no hate) still had fun playing splatoon nonstop and beating the campaign in a day tho (i took a lot of shortcuts, tightroping on rails to dodge fuzzy ooze in case you were wondering how i beat it so quickly) and it was the weekend, so that’s how i had the time.

Pun about the constellation Ursa Minor. AKA Little Bear, AKA Little Dipper. Also, the tip of Ursa Minor is the “Polaris Star”. Sound familiar? Ruins of Ark Polaris was a Salmon Run map in Splatoon 2. I’m sure there’s many more connections yet to be found in just this boss battle. I love the amount of detail that has gone into this game!
The sense of chaos and almost absurdity of this final fight really shows the reason why Splatoon is Splatoon. A mash of so many rather disconnected ideas coming together to make a game so off-the-rails but presented in a cool, refreshing way that makes me grin like an idiot. Splatoon doesn’t have to be realistic all the time, it just needs to be fun and it has that in spades.
All Mr. Grizz wanted was for the Earth to be as it used to be: inhabited by mammals. But thanks to the heroism of the Squidbeak Splatoon, he finally understood the hardest thing to accept: life is made of changes, and the only way to ensure a brighter future is to let go of the past and move foward.

i know some people were disappointed with the final act, but i love how off the rails it gets.

Don’t get me wrong I loved the campaign and playing through it, reading all the logs in anticipation for the final boss, but the final act kinda made me go “that’s it?”
While I like the idea of Mr Grizz being the main antagonist his design kinda threw me off, I was expecting more rugged bear look than what we got which is basically a plush toy, kinda makes the whole thing less serious for me even though it shouldn’t as destroying the whole world is pretty high stakes
I love the idea of Octavio helping but he just kind of jumps in last minute after not being seen anywhere throughout the story, I feel if he and cuttlefish were trapped together within those radio call cutscenes we could’ve gotten some really fun dialogue of them butting heads with one another on finding a way to escape while also giving him a more deserving redemption arc
Lastly I feel Deep Cut was put to the side tbh, they had some really fun boss fights and the cutscene we had with them in the beginning were fun but I feel this story mode should’ve put focus on them and not the squid sisters so we could get more screen time and know more about their character, basically the same way Pearl and Marina’s characters were much more developed in Octo Expansion
I’m hoping the upcoming DLC Story for this game will be better, more on the league of octo expansion or somehow even better 😭

I didn’t expect this final at all. It’s just amazing how they linked the story to the co-op mode. So much feelings and nostalgia in this battle with the music. Dont’t forget of course about the main idea: you should never get stuck in the past… always move forward 😁

This is one of the greatest and most memorable video game finales of all time, on par with the likes of SA2, Uncharted 4, and Spider-Man PS4. This is the apex of Splatoon Single-Player content. When I played Splatoon 1 all the way back in 2015, I never thought I'd see the day that the franchise would go this far. I almost teared up once I saw the thank you for playing screen. This is my favorite video game trilogy of all time!
This was my first splatoon hero mode I finished and it was amazing. It made me cry and the song is soooo good at the end. I’ll never forget beating this hero mode ❤️

This final boss was in shock, I love the cutscenes, I like how deep cut is helping, love dj octavio as an ally, and Iiked how the final boss was total wildness. The cuteness are incredible in the story mode, it's nothing compared to other splatoon games like this one, story mode has been always a problem, this is what one day I hoped, and the day actually HAPPENED!

This seems to be truly the end of Splatoon. Even DJ Octavio the main villan in Splatoon helped out to defeat Mr Grizz. It was fun playing this game, especially because at the Boss fight we heard a Calamari Inkingtation remix. Splatoon 3 Wave Goodbye was also a pretty good song too.
I really REALLY did not expect Mr grizz to have such cartoonish proportions and features, I was busy thinking up how terrifying he could look, or maybe that Nintendo designed him abit like Kirby and the forgotten lands animal faces, or maybe that he'd have a mask thing around the eyes XD

Am I the only one who hated deep cuts involvement? It felt like they were shoehorned in last minute for the boss just cuz they are the new idol group. I think the story would have just been better with the squidbeak splatoon and Octavio in the end boss.

I am so glad they took a page from Octo-expansion and made a far more entertaining story than the first two games. I love the Splatoon series and have been playing since day one, but until Octo the story had always been subpar. I will absolutely buy the dlc if it focuses on Off the Hook. Until then, Booyah!

What I expected: Mr. Grizz to have some degree of involvement with the 'mammalians' as they looked covered in ursine fur, and we know power eggs - which we collect for him - are used by octarians as a power supply, especially golden eggs.
What I did not expect: Apocalyptic doomsday Kaiju battle in space. AND GREAT ZAPFISH I'M OKAY WITH THIS!!!

You know what would be a great final boss for splatoon 4? This:
Mr Grizz and Commander Tartar team up and turn the NIHLS statue from Splatoon 2 into a giant robot, steal the great zapfish to power it, and then trudge toward inkopolis, hoping to destroy it Godzilla style. They are also accompanied by an army of octarians that are both fuzzy and sanitized following behind the robot. You have to chase down the giant robot using an upgraded superfast inkjet and fight through the army. Once you reach the statue, the inkjet is destroyed, forcing you to climb the robot (which is covered in traps, enemies, and foreign ink) on your own. then, on top of its head, you battle a robot inkling that has an arm that can transform into all sorts of different types of weapons. After destroying it, you're knocked off the top of the head and the robot is about to crush you under it's foot, but then all the sea creatures of inkopolis come out and start fighting the army as the calamari inkantion begins playing. The same sea creature energy that turned smallfry into hugefry at the end of Splatoon 3 then turns you into a giant equal in size to the Giant robot. You then wrestle it in a one-on-one fight, and finish it off using a giant Booyah bomb charged by the booyahs of all the denizens of Inkopolis that came out to fight the army in an epic finisher.
Spoilers for splatoon 3: something I haven’t seen people talk about is that when you kill mr grizz he has small glitchy effects on his body, could this mean mr grizz is still out there or is this a visual thing. Also after you beat the story if you go to the grizz co building the statue has changed, instead of it being a bear with a salmon in its mouth it’s the other way round

Ok I just want to know how did bears of all mammals survive? Even water mammals like Dolphins,Whales, and Manatees, yes Manatees are mammals, were wiped out but not bears.

i just beat the campaign the day after it came out so i wouldn’t get spoilers through youtube thumbnails, but this man made a thumbnail with no spoilers for once!! (no hate) still had fun playing splatoon nonstop and beating the campaign in a day tho (i took a lot of shortcuts, tightroping on rails to dodge fuzzy ooze in case you were wondering how i beat it so quickly) and it was the weekend, so that’s how i had the time.
