As I was thinking "what could he really do with this song?" My foot went into my mouth as my jaw was dropping to the floor! Incredible!!!
woodlab, I thought the same thing when he did Thriller and Black Box's Everybody Dance Now. Wrong, He added so much to the songs.
The double bass work he adds to this song is freaking nuts. Super tight and awesome.

I think that's it, the drumming is phenomenal, no doubt. But we are getting to watch dude have the time of his life, and he really IS enjoying it, and it all comes through in his energy

what is probably the most impressive beside his amazing abilities, is the impressive drum sound that he has, it just sounds so good whatever the drum kit he's using!!
I think he's mastered the sound a person can achieve on drums, can't pick a favorite maybe could narrow it down to 5. Best ever drummer.
Hey, Colby, I'm in agreement with you that el Estepario is the best drummer of all time. I think what I'm liking most about him is that he continues to push the envelope, rather than resting on what is comfortable. It's also really cool to see amazing drummers like yourself recognizing the chops of el Estepario. Thank you. I shake my head and roll my eyes just like you. Unlike a live performance, where some of those licks go by like "whoa!!! What was THAT??!!!", I also have the luxury of replaying the most amazing licks as many times as I can stand falling out my chair. Cheers.

I believe one of the key elements to his success is how fit and strong he is. Another key element is his years of practice. And third key element is his drumset and his accessories (he has a ton of specialty percussion pieces, such as cow bells and the special cymbals he had on his set today. What even is that one - it looked like two cymbals put together but the top one had holes in it? I just admire what he does!

Monster of drums
He is so musical and so joyful. He adds to the song and elevates it. He reminds me of Mozart playing around on the piano in Amadeus. Just mastery of the instrument exploring the joy that is music.

This guy needs to be played back in slow motion to be able to appreciate all his movements.
We know You are an expert and a professor and the fact that You can recognize that talented guy is awesome. Im not a drummer or anything like that but I can see that It is not usual his way and skills to play all those difficult songs.

When I saw his first version of this, my mind was 🤯🤯, I’ve been hooked ever since. 🤘🏻 IMHO though, I liked his first version better.
Hes a generational talent , one of those who moves the goal posts way way down the pitch . good luck trying to keep up with him .

I love everything he does, but Disasterpiece by Slipknot, which he does with one hand, is bonkers. The level of precision is off the charts. Also, I LOVE his mixes, they sound so clean and they're never overbearing even though the drums are clearly the focus of the cover.

My favorite covers he's done are this one, C&C Music Factory, and Michael Jackson's "Thriller". It is great watching what he does with other genres besides metal and rock.

I'm a 62 yr old Canadian hetero man...but watching and listening to his music makes me feel as awkward and giddy as a schoolgirl on her first date. In awe of the bedrock on which his talent stands. 57 hrs of practice every day works wonders. He just thrills me everytime. He does not squander his gifts or dishonor them with laziness. I'll stop now because I could go on and on. Because if the human race can still produce a force of Nature like this then there's hope for the rest of us too.
I don't have a favorite cover because he blows my circuits every time.

I think I once saw, a video of him talking about what he did in a day. IT was almost exactly like the MIKE TYSON video........ he wakes up like real early, goes for a run....... comes back ......practices like crazy for a like many hours, then works out with weights and goes to sleep.......... he like did this for years......... and like TYSON, he's become this drumming beast !!!! Hard work does pay off.

My favorite is Tears for fear. That grove he lays down is, pff. Keep up the good work Colby. He's a phenom, which is awesome because it actually gives you challenges way beyond the standard. He will inspire many hundreds even thousands in playing drums.

He is so on top of the beat . The perfect drummer who wouldn't ever let you forget that beat. His riffs and decorations take place in the interstices of his perfect time. You can't criticize what you don't understand. There are many great drummers! But not like this percussive genius.

Forget the brilliance & talent he has, I am just glad I was blessed with enough of the same to appreciate this. I can't imagine those that don't have the same and experience the emotions that he elicits. It would be like seeing the Mona Lisa and thinking lt's just an old portrait painting. He thankfully reaffirms his there is occasionally something beautiful & extraordinary in humans that is impetus & inspirational that ensures our unique progression as a species. Otherwise, I think that our inate complacency and laissez-faire would have extincted us long ago.

My favorite cover of this crazy talented man is Revenga by System of a Down. Those double bass in that song are so pleasing to the ear. I gotta listen to that cover every once in a while.
