@bcanton5333 Yeah, it evolves by trading (or the link cable item in Legends Arceus). In Gen 4 though an NPC trades you a Haunter that is infamously holding an everstone so that even though it was traded, it won't evolve. Everyone was super mad at the time, but she must have done it to prepare us for this very day, this very raid.
Contrary Serperior definitely came in clutch for me. Beat it on the first full attempt: Serperior Ability: Contrary Nature: Modest EVs: 252 Spd/ 200 Sp.Atk/ 56 HP Hold Item: Shell Bell Terra: Grass Moveset: - Leaf Storm - Giga Drain - Protect You just want to LS 3x until +6, then Terra + Giga Drain. When it resets your stats, and nullifies your Ability, use Protect, and then the following turn, LS again to +6, then Giga Drain until finished. An Intimidate Pokemon like Arcanine or Tauros, and Arboliva are the best partners to have. Intimidate for obvious reason, but Seed Sower sets up Grassy Terrain which recovers HP, and most importantly, weakens Earthquake, and Earth Power so you'll have more survivability.
I used Brute Bonette (Grass Tera w/ metronome), i used Clear Smog after turtle used Shell Smash, then use Growth and spam Giga Drain, terastalize, Clear Smog again after 2nd Shell Smash, Sunny Day, use Growth 3 times and them spam Giga Drain. I had an Arboliva on my team, that helped a lot. Maximize Sp Attack and Defense stats :)
For those looking for a very easy and absolutely no stress run, although a little slower than Haunter here, use Orthworm. IV: Best HP and DEF is all you need. EV: Max HP and Def Tera: Fighting Ability: Earth Eater Moveset: Mud-Slep, Iron Defense, and Body Press Note: Strat is pretty straight forward and due to Earth Eater, Torterra is doing next to nothing to you for the whole fight. The only important note is to use Max PP on Body Press or you may not have enough PP to win the fight.
so I used an exact build of that Haunter and it worked great, but towards the end of the raid, right before I got it to drop it's shield, it did actually use Earthquake and Earth Power on my Haunter. while my defenses were up high enough that it wasn't a problem, just wanted to let you know that the AI did eventually catch that fact that my Levitate had been nullified when it was using Smack Down
I actually already managed to beat it... with what many would see as a rather unique strategy. I used the Malmar from several raids back, changing its Tera to grass and teaching it Trailblazer, Liquidation and Terra Blast, giving it the Shell Bell, using Skill Swap to give Torterra Contray and take away its protection from Critical Hits. The first 5 times were a bust because everyone else brought in Pokemon with severe disadvantages, but the last team we worked well together and they all were using good Grass types. It was down to the wire, but we beat it.
Did mine with the standard Teal Mask (Grass) Ogerpon and was surprised by how good she was. Had her hold a Miracle Seed to strengthen grass moves, and I would use Swords Dance once and then Ivy Cudgel for damage or Horn Leech when low on health. Very happy I got the Torterra since it is a favorite of mine!
It’s a slow way, but the safest I can find. Orthworm with maxed out defense and HP with Earth Eater and Zoom lens item. Moves are Iron Tail, Protect, Body Press, and Iron Defense. Worked like a charm.
It might be helpful to include the fact that clear smog is an egg move on Haunter so that people don’t hyper train, level up, use TM’s, and max stats before realizing

I used orthworn with earth eater, grass Tera type, metal sound, Tera blast, mudslap, and protect. Handled this raid like a champ. Probably not as quick as the other grass types but still viable.

I love this strategy it's helped me a lot with this raid because I struggled with it in all of your videos has helped me through the raids through the past year I really like your videos
I used an Orthworm, purely because it didn't require anything fancy, just fixing your IVs and PPUp on Body Press. Fairly slow, but easy and consistent. The Haunter build is really interesting, but I just didn't want to take the time to egg move. If I didn't have an IV ready Orthworm, I definitely would have done this build.
Man, I completely missed the gatr raids... the only one I've missed so far. Thanks for all the help with the setups and strategies though! Got the big tortoise easily.
Caught it with this build in both SV. It eventually used earthquake and earth power very late on mine but it got hit with clear smog early after the second shell smash and it turned out okay. Now we can look forward to the shiny rayquaza.

Didn't die but almost runed out of moves (wasn't max PP, had a defensive nature, realized late tu use the cheers and my Energy ball didn't lower the Sp Defense not once!!). I'm gonna tweak it with a Serious nature and Leaf storm instead of Energy ball.
I ran brute bonnet with clear smog as a sort of support. It sucked cuz it was purely defensive so it wasn't really doing much of anything but at least we weren't dealing with a +2 torterra. I really wish they didn't give it earth power on top of every other physical moves to surprise people who were trying to build physically defensive.
I did the raid now. While I won it, I got killed by an earth power so it does hit ground moves on you. Afterwards it actually attacked with several ground moves, but without smack down so levitate was intact. Even with the death I had enough time to giga drain it
This worked beautifully!! I did get hit with one earth power during my run through, but it was right before the shield was broken and as grass Tera type the damage was negligible. I’m not sure if that’s the only point they’d use it or if it’s possible they will occasionally use it before terstalizing since that would be a bigger issue. I guess I will find out 🍻 🙏
Lee, I beat torterra by using wo- chien, shell bell, tablets of ruin ( ability), giga drain, grass knot, mega drain, careful (nature). It was tough, but I did it. 😅😅😅
Hey just so everyone is aware, they either fixed it or he got lucky because I got smack downed and then it immediately used earth power. I was already Tera grass so it didn’t really matter but it will use smack down and then earth power in the same turn if ur not careful. I’m sure this applies to EQ as well but it didn’t roll that move for me
Orthworm is good. I used it with ability shield and the moves are: Iron Defense, Mud-Slap, and Body Press with tera fighting. You do need to heal cheer sometimes but it still gets the job done.
I got SUPER unlucky in this raid, The Torterra used Wood Hammer turn 1 instead of Smack Down and crit me 1 shotting my Haunter 3 tries in a row before I got one without the crit and was able to beat it.
Serperior Abliity = Contrary Item = Shell Bell Max HP, Max Special defence, rest to Special Attack Leaf Storm Giga Drain Breaking Swipe Leech Seed Turn 1 = Leech Seed Turn 2 = until you are debuffed - Breaking Swipe Once Debuffed - Leaf Storm most of the time, Giga Drain if you need health. Had one intimidator on the team. Faster than this Haunter build.
Its an egg move, if you have something in your boxes with clear smog have haunter forget a move then have it hold a mirror herb item. Then take the pokemon with clear smog and put it and haunter in your party, set up a picnic and boom Haunter will now have Clear Smog! hope this helps :)
Clear smog is an egg move for Haunter, so just remove a move from Haunter, give it a Mirror Herb, and have it go into a picnic with a Pokemon that knows Clear Smog (Weezing or Torkol has Clear Smog as a normal move).
Arboliva absolutely sweeps this raid. It resists everything Torterra can dish out and every time it gets his it resets grassy terrain in case it ever runs out. I paired mine with an Alcremie to boost its stats and +4 with terrain boosts dealt massive damage.
Lurantis worked for me Leaf Storm, Giga Drain, Grassy Terrain & Protect, Max Sp Attack, Max HP, 4 Def, Shell Bell, Tera Grass I caught Torterra in a Heavy Ball on Scarlet and a Friend Ball on Violet.
Ive also just used this and no EQ's until it was low health, I think these are automatic programmed ones at certain HP stages but at this point I was tera grass so ofc it did almost no damage
Beat him 1st try with un bottle capped and un-hyper trained Brute Bonnet. Clear Smog, Sunny Day, Growth, Giga Drain. I used metronome but I think another item could have been more useful.
At around 7:35 you get hit by an Earthquake, so that the AI doesn't attack with ground moves because you have Livitate is wrong. Otherwise great build, I'll try it
@nathanaldana6589 I just did the raid with Haunter. I was killed by an earth power and afterwards it hits me with several earthquakes and earth powers, but in thst phase it doesn't hit with smack down before so they don't hit. But thst it doesn't use any Ground move is wrong. Other comments say so aswell

For the record, it did Earthquake me 1 time, but one time only, right at the very end, where I was already grass Tera & about to finish it off

I used an Appletun holding an Assault Vest. 252 SpAtk, 252 Deffense rest in HP. Only moves being Apple Acid and Giga Drain. Little guys a tank
I guess I will find out 🍻 🙏
What ball did you use?
Used Earthquake on last turn, but didn't do much damage and still beat it. Thanks!
Lee, I beat torterra by using wo- chien, shell bell, tablets of ruin ( ability), giga drain, grass knot, mega drain, careful (nature). It was tough, but I did it. 😅😅😅
Thanks! I think this build will work. ☺️
I never would’ve expected this thing to whup a Torterra
Now we wait for Annihilape to wreck it
Also Feraligatr jumpscare
Wow thank you very much I was able to catch him by myself with the bots. However though he did use earthquake but it didn't really do much.
How did you get Nasty Plot?
I use munkidori for a change and it works. Its a better hunter i guess.😅😊
how would that work without levitate?
You can also do with Orthoworm with Tera Fighting, Max Def & Hp with the rest in Speed, Iron Defense Body Press and Mud Slap are all you need really
Did it with a lvl 82 Orthoworm
Turn 1-4: Mud-Slap (Immediately Terastalize)
Turn 5-7: Iron Defense
Turn 7+: Spam Body Press
Took a few tries but I managed to beat it using lurantis, with leaf storm and giga drain. Worked pretty good
Tried Seperioir. Nah, didn't work....
This? I AIn't Affraid of No Ghost. Thank you!
Hey just so everyone is aware, they either fixed it or he got lucky because I got smack downed and then it immediately used earth power. I was already Tera grass so it didn’t really matter but it will use smack down and then earth power in the same turn if ur not careful. I’m sure this applies to EQ as well but it didn’t roll that move for me
very good build thank you very mush
When do you use the clear smog ?
Pls&TY .
Thx, worked like a charm.
Eartheater Orthworm absolutely beats it, Max Health, Max defense, Impish nature. Moves are Iron Defense, Body Press, and Protect.
Orthworm is good. I used it with ability shield and the moves are: Iron Defense, Mud-Slap, and Body Press with tera fighting. You do need to heal cheer sometimes but it still gets the job done.
@anvilmeethead9517 I ran leftovers. That's all the healing needed solo.
I got SUPER unlucky in this raid, The Torterra used Wood Hammer turn 1 instead of Smack Down and crit me 1 shotting my Haunter 3 tries in a row before I got one without the crit and was able to beat it.
Does anyway know how to get clear smog? i dont see it on moves that haunter has remembered
Venomoth @ Air Balloon w/ grass Tera Type
EVs: 252 Def, 100 HP, 80 Sp. Atk, 24 Speed
Modest Nature
Acid Spray(lower Sp. Def)
Giga Drain(recover HP)
Quiver Dance(bring up stats).
pounce(lower pokemon speed by 1)
I just beat it with Orthworm - Body Press….not the fastest, but never really took any damage
Great build.
Thank you
Serperior
Abliity = Contrary
Item = Shell Bell
Max HP, Max Special defence, rest to Special Attack
Leaf Storm
Giga Drain
Breaking Swipe
Leech Seed
Turn 1 = Leech Seed
Turn 2 = until you are debuffed - Breaking Swipe
Once Debuffed - Leaf Storm most of the time, Giga Drain if you need health.
Had one intimidator on the team. Faster than this Haunter build.
I used Serperior and caught Torterra in a friend ball as Torterra is my second favourite pokémon ever after Houndoom
I really did a speedrun spamming nasty plot and giga drain and it worked really well
Hey osirus how do I get my haunter to know the move clear smog?
Got you covered. It is an egg move. Use a mirror herb and any of the following which learn the move, Armarouge, Amoongus, weezing.
Its an egg move, if you have something in your boxes with clear smog have haunter forget a move then have it hold a mirror herb item. Then take the pokemon with clear smog and put it and haunter in your party, set up a picnic and boom Haunter will now have Clear Smog! hope this helps :)
@@Osirusthank you
@@spiritwolf3103thanks
Clear smog is an egg move for Haunter, so just remove a move from Haunter, give it a Mirror Herb, and have it go into a picnic with a Pokemon that knows Clear Smog (Weezing or Torkol has Clear Smog as a normal move).
Tera Fighting Orthworm w/ Earth Ability Hidden Ability. 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Attack.
Holding a Shell Bell.
-Mud Slap
-Iron Defense
-Body Press
-Protect but really whatever.
Easy solo clear.
Another easy solo. Thank you again sir
Arboliva absolutely sweeps this raid. It resists everything Torterra can dish out and every time it gets his it resets grassy terrain in case it ever runs out. I paired mine with an Alcremie to boost its stats and +4 with terrain boosts dealt massive damage.
What’s your arboliva build? I’ve been wanting to train one for raids
Grassy Terrain boosts Wood Hammer, though. That’ll definitely start hurting.
@davidhower7095 it doesn't cuz its still resisted. Using giga drain every turn for recovery is the move
@surreal.lotus11 its holding the grassy seed, max sp.attack/ 126hp/126 def.....moveset is light screen, reflect, giga drain, and terrain pulse.
I gave the old ground Tortoise a belting with Ogerpon! It had to go in a Safari Ball
Lurantis worked for me Leaf Storm, Giga Drain, Grassy Terrain & Protect, Max Sp Attack, Max HP, 4 Def, Shell Bell, Tera Grass
I caught Torterra in a Heavy Ball on Scarlet and a Friend Ball on Violet.
Was it easy though? Like how quickly did u beat it
@oliviab.9194 Took a few attempts but once I got Staraptor and Arcanine in the raid it was easy
@@oliviab.9194it was pretty easy. If you still looking for an answer :)
Ive also just used this and no EQ's until it was low health, I think these are automatic programmed ones at certain HP stages but at this point I was tera grass so ofc it did almost no damage
Thank you!
I used orthworm with the body press mud slap and iron decense set up. Its consistent but its slow
Doing it right now! Plan to catch in a Safari Ball!
I hope they will give us another shot cauz i missed kalos and hisui starters... 😢😂😂
Otherwise great build, I'll try it
That Earthquake is scripted
@nathanaldana6589 I just did the raid with Haunter. I was killed by an earth power and afterwards it hits me with several earthquakes and earth powers, but in thst phase it doesn't hit with smack down before so they don't hit.
But thst it doesn't use any Ground move is wrong. Other comments say so aswell
