My mother would talk about how her grandfather (being nice) would walk and drop coins out of his pockets for the kids to pick up....this might be the case over there too. Hey, got a worn 1918-S merc today...my first silver of 2017, got a late start this year...but had 4 or 5 silvers in Dec. Oh, i got a 61-D rosie from Coin-Star this week too....and i had put it in...i got it from one of many salvage car's back seat coins...i thought it was just a regular dime (off color) while i was scoping up mostly pennies. i guess i am lucky and blessed. ;)

I think a lot of the time kids are the answer. Because many of the lawns I find loaded with wheat pennies I find old toys too. Once I found a coin spill that had 11 wheat cents and a piece of play money in it. lol.
Been detecting now for almost 3yrs w AT PRO old parks circa 1890-1920s...old houses and fields only found 2 silver coins...still love detecting but just wish my luck would change soon!

How do you negotiate with the land owners on what you get to keep? In this yard, I would think with you getting so many signals, the owner would come out and want some of your finds.

How. where do you go? i spent 6 hours out in the wilderness, near a gorge, in a farmers 475 acre farm and i got 2 shotgun shell brass ring, 4 smaller brass, one .22 pistol casing, a lump of weird shaped lead, a nice cork top bottle i still need to look up online, and about 4 lb of junk metal.

Thanks. I'm skinny, not very fast and can't jump very high. My jump shot is one of the main reasons I can play well, by using the threat to create more options for myself and my team. My records in practice for consecutive shots are free throws (70) three pointers (34) I averaged roughly 18 ppg my senior year of HS. I'm no Lebron James. But I shoot well, play hard and try to use my cunning to compensate for my lack of physicality and mediocre ball handling skills. lol

Can someone plz explain to me what the different coins mean like the mercurys, silvers, Rosie , wheat penny's what does that mean? And how can u tell what u HAVE by the tone?
Your question isn't 100% clear but Mercury dimes were minted between 1916-1945 in 1946 they changed the look of the dime to the modern day Roosevelt dime. Those dimes were 90% silver until 1964 after that they have 0 silver in them. Wheat pennies were minted from 1909-1958 until they were replaced with the modern Memorial building pennies. The tones and numbers of a metal detector can tell you roughly what you have. For example, on my machine a clad dime rings up 84-85 but a silver dime 86-87 so if I get a 86-87 I know it is not a modern dime but most likely a silver one. Hope that answers your question.
If I was too make a guess, I would bet that the family was a Catholic family with five or six BOYS and the boss told them to go out side and play and were probably in their teens. If you were to do some research, you might find that they live there in the early sixties.
Well. You're gonna get your wish! I split the digs into 5 separate videos (7-10 minutes each) then worked on a 20 minute wrap up today. Took me forever to get everything cleaned up. I needed some time away from TH-cam. So it'll keep everyone occupied while I'm gone. LOL. All 6 videos are finished and scheduled to post daily from 1/22 through 1/27.
