Mr. Miculek is, hands down, one of the best shooters in history. He is so good that if he had lived before the use of film, we would outright dismiss his accomplishments as fantasy and exaggeration.
I thought I was the only one who noticed the shockwave running up his arms when the gun fired. Talk about bad on your joints man. I can shoot my S&W .44 like that but that .500 mag is way more powerful that the .44 is. I guess it's a matter of practice like everything else.
Jerry could actually edc this thing. It's amazing how still his hands are. To those who've never fired a high power gun it's truly amazing he can fire that thing so well. My largest caliber is .357 and that thing kicks, can only imagine how this thing feels when you pull the trigger. You the man Jerry
Seriously... I've been a rock climber for 5 years, I have trained my fingers, hand grip, wrists and forearms to be much stronger than an average person... But I can't shoot like that with a freaking 357 mag... Actually, I can't shoot like that with anything really... Regardless--the dude is a phenomenon to me.
I don't know what Jerry's age might be. I'm 66 and I wouldn't shoot that gun for anything. Too much for me. Much less 5 rounds in a second. My hat is off to Jerry also.
look at that recoil shock go up his forearms as he fires a round man..damn there was less when he was firing the barrett 50 cal..those 500's are badass..but jerry's a bigger badass!!
What is most amazing to me when looking at the slo-mo is how incredibly stable his gun grip is: He is actually back on target, with a pretty much stationary gun, at least 50-75 ms before pulling the trigger again, which means that he could have hit those 5 shots in even less time, maybe 2-300 ms less!
A grizzly can cover 40 yards in 2 seconds... they claim you'd be lucky to get one shot off! You sir... could empty and reload in that time! Great shooting!
What makes this amazing is how Jerry resets after every shot. It looks like he's flinching because he's so fast, however on the high speed you can see that each shot if fired precisely. I've been shooting magnum handguns almost exclusively for 15 years and I still catch myself flinching. It's very hard to train out that natural reflex, even more so when firing a small pipe bomb.
I have Beast wrist,I use Captain Crusher style wrist strengthener,up to 350 pounds of force. I'm on 250lb now. Soon i will be able to snap human wrist with one hand,or crush a man's wrist. I can handle the .50 handgun.
what is the purpose of the second little hole below the muzzle of the pistol ? ( it may be a beginner question, but I dont know anything about guns ). Anyway, the blast wave on his arm and body is impressive for a pistol, REALLY impressive
That second hole is where the ejector rod is. It’s mainly used to cut the weight of the barrel. As you can see the revolver is a snub nose so if anyone was manly enough to carry this with him than light weight is gonna be a very important tool for carrying.
I just shot mine for the first time today. Loaded only one round. Shot it three times, each time loading one round. I then proceded to load two and, upon shooting, double tapped it, sending one round to the moon. This cannon is no joke, people. Mad respect to Jerry . Just watching this video gives me confidence to improve my form so that never happens again. Thank you!
Watching the slow motion just shows how well engineered revolvers are, if that cylinder was just slightly misaligned it would blow off your hand. What's ever more inexpressive is how they managed to do it 150 years ago when it was all hand made!
625,000 Power Factor? You know, I think you might just make major with that combination! ;-) Usually I laugh at anyone foolish enough to choose a 4" S&W .500 Magnum as his bear defense gun. Just shooting at the bear doesn't count, you actually have to hit the bear with multiple shots to get its attention, and very, very few can do that with anything bigger than a .44 Magnum. It's hard enough to do with one of those, but I pity the bear that picks on Jerry when he's carrying his .500!!! Of course, Jerry's superhuman, so he has an advantage over us mere mortals!
Gunslinger454 in Canada the only way to carry a pistol is hunting. And to pass the requirements you have to put 10 rounds in a small target with a .40 cal or larger at 30 yards rapid fire😬
I daily a .40 and the recoil is NOTHING compared to a .500. My bear gun is a Glock 20 though. 10mm will drop a bear with ease assuming half decent shot placement. Fuck carrying a 44mag or a 500. Capacity > lead
I like stopping power. Bear protection is a self-defense pistol and if I ever have to use a firearm on another person I want him to at least have to get up off the ground after I've knocked him on his ass with one 160gr hollow point. Although, I'll admit I don't expect him to get up. Not to mention the fact that it's going to help your gun control and put down time by not having to fire multiple rounds. If your life, or another's, is on the line you want it over quick. In short, I don't want to shoot an angry grizzly coming at me with a 9mm. I call it "being smart."
My God is what i say or think every time i touch one off in my 500 s&w. Use nose plugs too, she slaps you in the nose worse than a 50 cal bmg. Brutal, and a lot of fun. I fill pumpkins with water, then blast them into tiny pieces. lol
Jerry I have the 500 in the 6.5” barrel with 1/2 lug. I love the pistol and it is my absolute favorite to shoot. My biggest/only complaint about it is the grip. They made a beast of a pistol and then gave us a grip that doesn’t even fit the entire hand. I don’t know if the designer had small hands but to me it’s silly. It’s like they were trying to put a concealed carry grip on the biggest pistol. The first thing I did to mine was install a much larger grip from an aftermarket company. I wish they would offer larger to extra large grips for folks with big hands that can control the pistol and enjoy shooting it. I shoot my pistol one handed with the larger grips with ease. Before with the stock grips I could hardly control the gun with almost an entire finger not able to fit on the stock grip. An amazing pistol!
There must be a method to absorb high intensity recoil and Mr Miculek does it with such accuracy and efficiency considering the gun is a pretty much brutal monster.
Who's The Man ??? No doubt about it . Jerry Miculek is The Man !!! The slow motion footage with those fireballs really demonstrates why you don't want a finger near the front of the cylinder on a revolver.
WOW!!! Start watching the slo-mo part of this at around 2:07. If you stop and start the video very quickly, pausing over and over, you can see the hammer slowly come down, see a MASSIVE explosion of the round, and then get a fleeting glimpse of the streak of the bullet leave the barrel. AWESOME.
That slo-mo footage was amazing. Thanks for taking the time to record and share this. BTW, you are one hardcore, tough feller. And remember, if you can do it.....it ain't bragging!
Wow!!! You can see the shock wave in the slow mo and the tremendous energy transfered through the hands and arms and shoulders..nice. Someone was shooting this in my local indoor range and it was like I was being punch in the chest, and I was 5 lanes away..nice shooting Jerry
You are the best . Can you tell me why your right thump is not behind the gun. Does it help with the recoil because I have the same gun and I shot about 10 rounds, my palm sores for 3 days
he controls that recoil so well it looks like he is shooting a 38 special. the king of revolver shooters shooting the king of revolvers. Jerry is the best
If every legal gun-owner were as competent as Jerry, we wouldn't have so many problems. The second ammendment is here for a good reason, but not for the no-good that could not even comprehend the power of this unit and the professional behind the trigger. God bless Jerry Miculek. Keeping America on target once again.
Jerry, they call Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks 'The Beast' and into Beast Mode. Man, he has got NOTHING on you!! A S&W .500 Mag, five rounds in under 1 second?!? I've shot a .460 out of a 10" (12"?) barrel, with a muzzle brake on it, off a tripod. That was fun, but a 4" .500 Mag? Not on your life! You, sir, are truly a Beast! :D :)
I can't imagine shooting that big that fast. I shot a.460 magnum with a long barrel S&W 5 times in a row but I had to stop and shake my head between shots to get my focus back. It makes your head ring, not just your ears.
Jerry, do you think that the 4" barrel is long enough to get the maximum performance from that round? What I mean is was there any unburned powder coming out of the barrel?
This video is from 2013 and I would wager most of us are still compiling our stocks of courage to begin the contemplation process to consider pulling that trigger. Incredible.
I see that you'r right thump is on the right side of the gun , is that your normal grip or only when you are shooting something powerful as the .500 magnum?
When I watch the the high speed, it looks like he is pulling the trigger faster then the hammer drops. Looks like smith need to step it up and build a gun that doesn't hold him back lol.
Sir I can't even begin to understand and tell you how amazing your skill and dedication you put in. I own on myself. I'm deaf but I still use protection. I can't hear the shot counter. Any suggestions?
My Ruger .44 is enough "gun" for me. It's amazing how much energy is expelled in one of these big revolvers. It's cool to see the flames in slow motion.
I've been in at least three gun shops that each had a S&W .500 Mag on consignment, with the identical story for all: "Yeah, the guy bought the gun new, put five rounds through it, and immediately came back in and put it on consignment". I've always been pretty insensitive to recoil, with above-average grip strength, and five rounds through a borrowed .500 Mag was more than enough for me. I'm glad I had the opportunity, but I have no interest in doing it again. I've read that more than once, even relatively experienced shooters have fired this gun, and ended up flinching and losing control so badly that they involuntarily squeezed the trigger again, firing a wild round practically straight up, and sending the gun flying. Not really the day you want to be at the range....
That was awesome! You could definitely see the power in slow-mo as it rocked back in your hands and the wave effect translated into your forearms. Pretty sweet!
Hi jerry i just saw your grip while shooting this s&w 500 and your thumb on your right hand it on the right side i will like to watch a video explaining your grip keep the great videos coming thank you so much !!
eatwatukill I have seen several of his videos. One explains how to grip an x frame. But he shoots this 500 with a different grip than i have ever seen him or anyone use. He is the King of controlling recoil with a revolver and i think it would be interesting to see how achieves this with the grip he is using in this video. If there is a video explaining this please post a link.
If you look at his hands when he takes his first three shots, his right thumb wraps around to the left side of the pistol as he normally would hold a revolver. But then he stopped shooting because the hammer spur was pinching him. I'm guessing that's why he shifted his thumb to the right. I guess he's controlling that revolver on pure grip strength.
That thing will grind your joints to dust....Quite useless thing really, if you want to use it for bear protection you need to train with it to be proficient = massive cash hemorrhage and permanent joint damage. Also if used on the field with no hearing protection you'll get major hearing loss with each shot. Fun fact about bear attacks: firearm defense only give 50% chance of zero damage encounter, while with pepper spray (includes pre bear spray stats) you have 95% chance to survive with no damage...
All who have used pepper spray on bears have the same story: The bear stops almost instantly and runs away at maximum speed. At similar ranges firearms are near useless, also helping a friend that is being attacked with a firearm is extremely problematic unlike with bear spray.
ScopedPewPew And you're a very rude idiot. I never said bear spray wouldn't deter a bear, I said it's difficult to quantify bear attacks since each is unique. You may want to read what someone wrote before trying to respond.
ScopedPewPew Im pretty sure if you hit a 1000lb Grizzly in its pinky toe with a .500MAG it wouldn't want anymore. What I'm getting at is if you hit an animal anywhere with that thing, there is an incredible likelihood that thing is going down rather quick.
I have a .500 S&W. As a hunting tool, I doubt this is very useful. I don't think very many people have ever had successful hunts with this thing. But, it's a hoot to shoot(outdoors), especially at things that explode, like watermelons. It's really more of a novelty than a practical gun.
knowing how wicked Jerry is at shooting, the part the impressed me is during slo-mo you can see the pistol absolutely stop all motion while the cylinder turns. beast mode engaged.
Mr Miculek, Have you ever shot a Magnum Research BFR 500? How does it compare with the Smith and Wesson? I own the seven and a half inch barrel version and noticed it does not have the muzzle brake like the S&W. Would this make for a harsher kick? Thanks for the awesome videos. I look forward to them. Cheers
Mr. Miculek is, hands down, one of the best shooters in history. He is so good that if he had lived before the use of film, we would outright dismiss his accomplishments as fantasy and exaggeration.
Yes he is one of the best ... Because of him I so want a Smith and Wesson model 29 44 magnum
Or we would read about him as one the best gunslingers

The Geneva Convention prevents this man from entering any conflict.
200th like. Nice.
According to the Geneva Convention, Jerry is no man but an unconventional biological weapon of mass destruction.

The slo-mo where you can see the kinetic energy traveling through Jerry's arm is just silly. That is a lot of pistol.

His forearm is iron
Can it stop a grizzly bear?
It's no pistol. It's a revolver.
Urban Commute - yes, it can stop a grizzly. Many hunters carry the 460XVR or the 500 as a backup.
2:07 - My God, the man's muscle control is nuts. His head is stock effing still and he does not flinch even SLIGHTLY. Guess that's why he's the best.

Oh no. He's much more of man than that. Haven't you seen his breakfast video?

The scariest part is he didn't even flinch once shooting rapidfire double action in a .500 S&W
If were me, I'd be looking for the gun after first shot ... "Hmn, gotta be around here somewhere".
I didn't even see him blink!
Five shots of the 500 in a row, and without gloves to boot. You sir deserve my respect.

bob munden can only fire 2 shots with his trick

everyone I've ever seen shoot one of these dreads it. It's a ridiculous round. Like being jerked by a car.
Munk: I'd bet if you asked him...Miculek would say he has a lot of respect for Munden's shooting skills!
He shoot .500 S&W like I shoot .45 ACP.

I am a horrible dude
Jerry regrows new teeth any time he wants to, like Chuck Norris, only for real.
Carl Huck he dosent need terry he’s got extremely strong jaw boned

I see that you'r right thump is on the right side of the gun , is that your normal grip or only when you are shooting something powerful as the .500 magnum?
Great personalitie great guy the best dam shooter in the world!!!! He's stout!!! Shoots a 500 mag like a toy.
Question though, factory loads or lighter handloads for quick shooting.
When I watch the the high speed, it looks like he is pulling the trigger faster then the hammer drops. Looks like smith need to step it up and build a gun that doesn't hold him back lol.
Bass Flats & Beyond he is
Jerry can manipúlate matter to his advantage
Can you please explain the grip you used? You're the best Mr. Miculek
I don't think any grizzly will be messing with you anytime soon.
I like the way how steady the gun was while he squeeze the trigger and the cylinder revolving all in slow motion.
Imagine trying to rob someone that has this.
Sir I can't even begin to understand and tell you how amazing your skill and dedication you put in. I own on myself. I'm deaf but I still use protection. I can't hear the shot counter. Any suggestions?
Barrel doesn't even rise above 30°
My Ruger .44 is enough "gun" for me. It's amazing how much energy is expelled in one of these big revolvers. It's cool to see the flames in slow motion.
Wrists of steel..
I would like to see more on that grip. It looks like neither thumb in on, nor over the grip of the gun. Just how are you gripping that gun?
if i shot that thing in my house itll blow the fucking paint off the walls
+Jon Homan rip eardrums too!!
That was awesome! You could definitely see the power in slow-mo as it rocked back in your hands and the wave effect translated into your forearms. Pretty sweet!
Tip of the day: DON'T FUCK WITH THIS GUY!
Hi jerry i just saw your grip while shooting this s&w 500 and your thumb on your right hand it on the right side i will like to watch a video explaining your grip keep the great videos coming thank you so much !!
I would also love to see how Jerry gripped the 500 for this shoot.
he has a video explaining how to shoot a revolver, that explains everything check it out
eatwatukill
I have seen several of his videos. One explains how to grip an x frame. But he shoots this 500 with a different grip than i have ever seen him or anyone use. He is the King of controlling recoil with a revolver and i think it would be interesting to see how achieves this with the grip he is using in this video. If there is a video explaining this please post a link.
I look at his video of how to shoot a revolver with word record shooter jerry miculek he explain about his grips very interesting!!
I don't think you can quantify bear attacks since each one is unique. And I believe whether you escape unharmed either way depends on when you draw.
Does he have his thumb on the right side of the gun so the force doesn't go through his hand and goes to his wrist and arms ?
Mr Miculek, Have you ever shot a Magnum Research BFR 500? How does it compare with the Smith and Wesson? I own the seven and a half inch barrel version and noticed it does not have the muzzle brake like the S&W. Would this make for a harsher kick? Thanks for the awesome videos. I look forward to them. Cheers
That's a monster! Merry Christmas Jerry and family!
Hi Jerry, loved the 500 S&W. Would like to see your left hand placement on the revolver. Few shooter display what the weak hand position looks like.
