    These are great, Timothy. So helpful to those of us learning jazz. How do you formulate the transition chord or two that you play when you go from one lick to the next?

    • @TimothyGondola
      @TimothyGondola  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey Michael! That's simply an A7 chord (sometimes I made it an A b13 #9 chord). It works as a transition because it serves as a dominant 7 to the next chord, which is Dm. So, it makes a minor V -> i.

    Hey Timo! Makadi... instead of showing licks, why not show “how” to make phrases instead. Just a tip 😉👍🏾✌🏾

    • @Hnmcl-l9z
      @Hnmcl-l9z 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a lot of info already, and learning licks is adding to vocabulary. From which you can create your own licks.

    • @brothercaleb
      @brothercaleb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Negative - have you ever wondered HOW those who create “licks” make them? Once you understand how to create jazz phrases you really do not need licks as your creativity becomes unlimited. Copying licks is a tunnel-vision strategy as it lacks new ideas.... and as a result one runs the risk of sounding monotonous. And what are the chances of you sounding like someone else?

    Your LH is not as written in the video, which may disappoint many and frustrate. But I realised that this was written for all levels. Trying to find a teacher for this kind of material is difficult, as they need to be a player and also a good teacher with experience. Not your common rhythm of classical, which is the norm. I still endorse your effort and please do not be offended. Thank you.

    It's really annoying how information is everywhere today. Not trolling.
    Stop minimizing the importance of players who actually LISTEN to albums and search new music.
    Licks shouldn't just be given out on youtube. They should be EARNED by the musician listening to songs and discovering something others have not. No wonder people play Jazz like crap for the most part today. No values like the old days.
