The Maelstrom
By Robert W. Smith
00-BD9755
Belwin Concert Band
Grade: 3
A maelstrom is described as 'an intense whirling mass of water circling into itself with great strength.' With this as inspiration, composer Robert W. Smith launches the resplendent new work The Maelstrom. Soaring melodic lines, punctuated with vibrant percussion, propel this driving and dramatic piece with fury and excitement. A dazzling concert statement!

@t1m0thyduk3 that's exactly what I was thinking too, like a sequel
@@t1m0thyduk3 Ditto! I played that in high school TWICE for two different years! We rehearsed this piece, but never played it in any concerts.
I get its a Grade 3 piece but it just seems like it needs a bass trombone part (or just give a solid bass trombone player the tuba part).
