My God man i was ready to believe that this bus had a 6V71N engine that was until i saw at the end of the video the exterior part when bus took off and i could hear the 8V71N engine great catch.
Yes Marcos, this one originally is 6v71, check out the GMC Roster from 1959 thru 1968, in 1968 the 8v71 is available as option to 40 foot units only, the 35 foot uses only 6v71
Original engine for this 1962 bus is 6V71, in 1968 the 8v71 makes debut, so this unit is repowered, I have this one in Puerto Rico, but with extreme makeover, Alison 731 and Series 50 engine, cool, and a Lift U wheelchair at front door,
I am also from Puerto Rico from the 90s until the year 2000 when I was in middle school and high school and in summer camps almost all the excursions they did were one of those GM New Look buses that we always traveled on they were very comfortable not like school buses those were uncomfortable since 2001 I have not seen one again hopefully one day I can get on one again and listen to the roar of the detroit engine
TheCRTman THIS BUS IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 6V71 ORIGINALLY BECAUSE THE SDM5302 IS ONLY EQUIPPED WITH 6V71, NOT TO BE FITTED THE 8V71. BUT IN 1968 THE 8V71 IS INTRODUCED TO THE NEW LOOK POWERPLANT FAMILY. THIS BUS I THINK IT'S REPOWERED, AND BREAKS ALL THE MYTHS OF THE BUS INDUSTRY THAT THE 8V71 ENGINE IS NOT CAPABLE TO OPERATE A TRANSIT BUS. ALSO THE INSIDE ADVERTISING GALLERY IS ELIMINATED IN FAVOR OF SUNROOF LIGHT GLASS, NOT USUAL ON THAT BUS, MAYBE IN THE RESTORATION PROCESS THIS BUS MAKES A EXTREME MAKEOVER. ACCORDING WITH THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE GMC NEW LOOK BUSES THE 1959 TO 1967 NEW LOOKS ARE POWERED WITH 6V71 ENGINE (FIRST AND SECOND GENERATION), AT 1968 THE THIRD GENERATION RECEIVE THE 8V71 ENGINE AND LATER THE 6V92 AND THE 8V71N, ALSO KNOWN AS 8V92.
To mmZ06, a Nova LFS with 8v71 and VS2-8 it's very impossible. First, the engine housing, and the transmission of this bus is very little than the standard 3 Flooring bus. The 8v71 bus is only to operate in a standard bus.
also VS2-8 wouldn't for 1962 be original since it came out in 1967 or later and VH renamed VS-1 then VH9 was the original 2-speed bus. Speaking of Speeds, this REMDINDS me of the (underrated) '94 movie Speed.
Si, v8 coach, plus are 8V71 RTS TH-8203 lasted, plus GM Flx 780-A coaches same 8V71N,they has last manny years but gotted scrap becose that dammed EPA laws was kicked in! it were so sad amigo.

Suburban Diesel "Mechanical", meaning a manual transmission. From the video, we can determine that this is not an SDM. This is clearly an SDH. Suburban Diesel "Hydraulic", meaning automatic transmission. Was this bus converted?
A little research indicates that this bus is actually a 1967 model. God forbid I post links on TH-cam comments but there's stuff on rapidtransit-press period com and omot period org.
Well i will tells you the film sound just the same like back than!!!! jus maintaces your coach in intervals, it will keeps goesing plus last forever!!!! es a DERTROIT BABY!!!!

Steve Carras You're right, this was a retrofit because it was originally an 8V71N/Manual.
