She must have dreamt of singing this on stage as a kid. She looks so excited. It must have been even more exciting in Paris. No wonder she sounds so nervous in the beginning.

This song is an obsession and they do the best cover I've heard yet. She is almost as cute and charming as France Gall and she clearly loved singing it.
I agree.. I've watched this particular video countless times.. she makes it fun and exciting to watch. Takes me to a different place.

I was watching Eurovision when France Gall let loose this song. Incredible moment. There is something hypnotic about the song. This is a great version. Loved France Gall ever since. Her concert prive with those American guys in the band is superb and of course the beautiful songs of Michel Berger. Time moves on but they will never be forgotten.

I'm obsessed. This is PERFECT! One of the best covers I've ever heard. Just magnificent.
i've always loved that they covered the song. regine clearly adores it and was super excited about singing it; and more than that, it's so sonically and thematically perfect for the band. the jangly french pop of the original is here transmuted brilliantly into a quirky, dark indie delight with a distinct edge. the song's melancholy contemplation of the ways young female pop stars are objectified and warped in the public consciousness feels as fresh and cutting as it did back when the song first came out - the coy, cloaked language it uses to communicate the unhappy stalet's thoughts is an incredible fit for a band like arcade fire, who deal lyrically in mystery and magic, surreal layers of memory and metaphor.

FYI, the song is as much about how young women acted back in those days, as how they were treated. And it was written and composed by a man (Serge Gainsbourg).
