    I was on a cruise some years ago when my travel companion asked if the crew slept on board. I stupidly said, no, the crew are air lifted off by helicopter each night and returned the next morning by helicopter. On the last night of the cruise there was an opportunity to tell the cruise director while in the theatre, what complaints and suggestions we might all have. To my embarrassment my companion stood up and said "I haven't slept a wink on this cruise because of the damn noisy helicopter." ( Yes, she was definitely serious).

    9:06 Do crew members sleep on board? No, the ship is put on autopilot and all crew members disembark via an airlock below the waterline into a submarine. This submarine then detaches and follows the ship at a distance while submerged, returning in the morning. Any crew members you might run into between 0000 and 0600 hours are in fact cosplaying cruise ship passengers.

    I always say the question not asked…is the stupid question. Don’t be afraid to ask Guest Services…by phone (the one in your cabin) if you are embarrassed. Good vicious Some of these questions are definitely funny. One thing I always remind new cruisers to do is to turn your phone/other devices to airplane mode. Roaming fees can run up into the $100s of dollars for a one week cruise.

    Follow up questions:
    Towels - are there towels available at the pools? I imagine one reason people would ask about extra towels is because they want to take their room towel with them when swimming, but is this even necessary?

    On a previous cruise, my steward showed me a light above my door that let him know whether I was in or out of the cabin. The light is activated by the card at the entry. On my subsequent cruises, all different lines, I've looked for that light. It's in different places outside the door, sometimes above the door, sometimes by the room number.... On my latest cruise, there were three lights, different colors, that let the steward know whether he could enter the room or not AND there was a switch above the little card, one said Make up my room and theother, do not disturb. I think two of the lights corresponded to those switches, and the third light just said if I'd left the room/removed the card. If you leave the card in the little slot, they may knock. If you don't answer, they don't enter your room.

    Hi Matt. Actually a question occurred to me while you were showing videos of the various Royal Caribbean cabin beds. I have sailed on two other cruise lines, Cunard and Holland America, and on both there was a special half cover on the bed when we first enter the cabin to protect it from our luggage. However, I have never seen this in any of the cabins we have been in on Royal. And then in some of the videos you showed there IS indeed a luggage cover. We have to put the luggage on the beds to unpack. Any idea why these protectors are on some beds and not others?

The bed was up against the wall giving no access to the port hole, so it was worthless. I think there is another type of cabin also, it is the panoramic cabin that has a lot of windows, but you can’t go out of them. This is an unusual question. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it. It is not on the list of prohibited items, but if the person you spoke to and their supervisor aren’t sure, there could be confusion at security checkpoints to get on the ship and you might end up having to wait an extra-long time at security or even having the item confiscated if security isn’t on the same page as the cruise line staff.

I actually found myself watching the shopping channels where they talk about the artist, from the pieces sold at the art auction, more then anything else (I'm an artist myself). I wonder if there's a way you can connect the tv to your phone or a device and watch stuff that's on there. I don't know about that ship I do know that on the serenade of the seas I just got an email saying that they are just now have a spot where you can connect your phone either Apple or Android to the TV via HDMI. However they said that you could not connect other devices just the phones. Not sure any of this helps you but just trying to give you the best knowledge that I have.

      I’ve seen a different Royal Caribbean vlog that said they are all Samsung, although I don’t know how true it is. I haven’t been on board since 2019 (going on my next one in 13 days). The tip was to bring a Samsung tv remote from home to control the tv.

      Typically, the staterooms all have flat-screen Samsung TVs which all should have at least one HDMI port. However, it is not always that easy to get behind the TV to connect/disconnect cables. Personally, I’d recommend watching your TV shows or movies directly on your iPad if possible since that will definitely be easier.

    I have a question, I know you can get a stateroom at a cruise, but can you get a cityroom?

      Well, in a technically you can. You can get a Central Park balcony or the boardwalk balcony.

      You should be able to, as long as there is no open flame and as long as it doesn’t produce heat. Most appliance restrictions are in place to prevent fires from starting in guests’ staterooms.

    Do guest share A bathroom?🙄

    • @Keither754
      @Keither754 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be fair, in the old days of ocean liners (like the Titanic or similar) most passengers shared common bathrooms. Only the most wealthy had private bathroom facilities back then. (Likewise, some people might think of cruise ship cabins more like college dorm rooms if they are unfamiliar with cruise ships in general.)

    Matt ships do not have hallways, they are called passageways or pways for short. Kind of annoying when you keep saying hallways.

    • @Keither754
      @Keither754 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Does it really matter? 🤷‍♂️As far as most people are concerned, they are “hallways” because that’s what they look like. You could also call them “passageways” or “corridors”. I’ve never heard anyone ever call it a “p-way”
