In my opinion, you don’t have to go to a church to be a “good Christian”. Like you said, it’s just a building, the people make up the congregation and not everyone’s there for the right reasons. I stopped going to church many years ago because of the stress of dealing with the hypocrisy. My mind just wasn’t strong enough to endure that. I don’t call myself a Christian or ascribe to any religion, tho I have respect for all religions. This is exactly why I stopped going to church. My relationship is between me and God. My then fiancé while going to church didn’t go to church but believed in God and had his own relationship with God. The youth minister wrote me a letter saying I was dating the devil. What?!! These aren’t followers of Christ in my mind. This is not how Jesus would have acted! The church fired him soon after. I still don’t go to church because I see so much hypocrisy. I think the harder we work to be kind, compassionate, understanding, the clearer the opposite behavior is. We work hard to remove those bad behaviors so we can spot them quickly. Just remember some people aren’t there yet, some people don’t see it in themselves. That’s on them. Is that an excuse? No! We can only change ourselves. Someone hurt me badly recently. I didn’t even know the person but their hurtful comments stayed with me. (Still with me) I can’t change that persons evil heart but I can pray for mine. I should pray for them but I’m not there yet. This is a sad lost world, more people need Jesus. (Everyone needs Jesus)

I understand this completely ❤ I worked , recently quit after 9 years at my hometown restaurant as a waitress. I dreaded Sundays! Church would let out and the judging would begin! Not all of them but at least 75% had their nose up in the air , too good to say Hello ,Thankyou, , snapping their fingers at us , looking down on us as they were better than anyone I don’t use the word “ Christian “ or refer to them as Christians . Because that is not true Christian behavior I eventually quit working on Sundays, literally refusing to, because it almost felt emotionally abusive I started a new job 4 months ago , and it’s working with the public . It’s no different My job is too ask to see receipts when items are not bagged or just expensive larger items , like TVs that can’t be bagged “Huh ! You want me to show you my receipt ? You think I would steal ? “ I’ll remind myself to dye my hair purple and get tattoos, you didn’t ask him for his receipt” well sir all of his items were bagged I didn’t need to ask “ sir I’m not accusing of stealing , I’m just doing my job. “ The whole snooty attitude, throwing the receipt in my face , I just had to respond “ Everyone’s shit stinks” you’re not special” I’m not a church going person, but I believe in , I love , I have so much faith in the lord . I would be ashame and feel guilty to treat and to talk to people in any manner that could bring their heart down If going to church and behaving like that makes a person a Christian, I’d rather stay home and pray for them
And once words are said to somebody, you can’t really take it back because they’ve already been said even if you’re sorry, so I definitely have to remind myself to watch my words
Everybody going to church may not be truly walking with God maybe that’s why they can act certain ways and don’t feel condemned. But I believe God can bring that to your heart that he makes the difference in people and not that people on their own can act right. But be encouraged that God is strengthening you❤

I lost my granddaughter September 12th she was only 27 and it happened the day before my birthday. I'm having a difficult time being around people cause some people as Christians are so uncaring about asking questions instead of caring about your feelings. Christians can be very hurtful. I'm still learning just like you Stephanie I went to church since I was 7 my best friend sister since I was 2 took me then I kinda went away at 13 then came back at 52 but always went here and there through out it is different I'm still learning ❤❤

I just feel the fact you are putting this out there for many people to see. what if one person hears this and it makes them doubt Christians and decide not to go to church, when they was on the edge of turning their life to Christ

I go to Church and people can be mean just over look their in the wrong. Not you. You hang in there. God loves you.
Bottom line is...acknowledge someone when they greet you. It doesn't cost anything to say hello.

I worked , recently quit after 9 years at my hometown restaurant as a waitress. I dreaded Sundays! Church would let out and the judging would begin!
Not all of them but at least 75% had their nose up in the air , too good to say Hello ,Thankyou, , snapping their fingers at us , looking down on us as they were better than anyone
I don’t use the word “ Christian “ or refer to them as Christians .
Because that is not true Christian behavior
I eventually quit working on Sundays, literally refusing to, because it almost felt emotionally abusive
I started a new job 4 months ago , and it’s working with the public . It’s no different
My job is too ask to see receipts when items are not bagged or just expensive larger items , like TVs that can’t be bagged
“Huh ! You want me to show you my receipt ? You think I would steal ? “
I’ll remind myself to dye my hair purple and get tattoos, you didn’t ask him for his receipt” well sir all of his items were bagged I didn’t need to ask “ sir I’m not accusing of stealing , I’m just doing my job. “
The whole snooty attitude, throwing the receipt in my face , I just had to respond “ Everyone’s shit stinks” you’re not special”
I’m not a church going person, but I believe in , I love , I have so much faith in the lord . I would be ashame and feel guilty to treat and to talk to people in any manner that could bring their heart down
If going to church and behaving like that makes a person a Christian, I’d rather stay home and pray for them

We see it more and more, which is so sad. I am also one that I want to share love & kindness.
Everybody going to church may not be truly walking with God maybe that’s why they can act certain ways and don’t feel condemned. But I believe God can bring that to your heart that he makes the difference in people and not that people on their own can act right. But be encouraged that God is strengthening you❤
Hi Stephanie, I understand exactly what you mean. I've been in the same situation. You can understand why people don't want to go to church when seeing people like that who suppose to be Christians. I lost my granddaughter September 12th she was only 27 and it happened the day before my birthday. I'm having a difficult time being around people cause some people as Christians are so uncaring about asking questions instead of caring about your feelings. Christians can be very hurtful. Honestly Stephanie I feel closer to God in nature than I do sitting in a pew for that reason. Nature is pure & honest, there I feel surrounded by Gods love… without judgement, jealousy, or deceit. Honestly, nature is my church.

I have learned that the important thing for me to do is to keep on greeting them even if they do not say hi back as it is the polite thing to do as a child of the Lord.
