    Kim Woojin for sure, but also Ku Bonchan. I loved watching him shoot, and I really hope he makes it back onto the Korean team again.
    Also, Choi Misun and Kwak Ye Ji. Incredible releases.

    Great video that is really useful for a beginner archer like me!
    I have made the same mistake that a lot of people make which is I am slightly over-bowed, trying to run before I can walk. Whilst I am in the process of getting stronger, is it better to struggle with a too heavy draw or to make life slightly easier by winding out the limb bolts and putting up with a stiff arrow and a de-tuned bow?

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Great question. Decreasing the draw weight is definitely the right thing to do if you are more focussed on getting good technique, but you just have to be realistic with grouping and remember that it won't be as forgiving.

    Actually I am really old school. I would vote for Darrell Pace. Developed his release practising by himself often shooting at night with truck headlights. And did it while still a teenager. Looking at old Videos of him shooting it still looks great.

    While the below mentioned archers are amazing , I admire brady ellison . His release is unique. His fingers open completely but still his arrows are in the gold . I wonder how . Should I chase that release ?

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't chase his release, or anyones release for that matter. But chase the release that works for you and gives you repeatable, clean execution on each shot :)

  • @Triple_J.1
    @Triple_J.1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another thing in regards to strength is simply use the lightest Bow you can find.
    I sort of made a mistake by purchasing a #40 recurve bow (it's closer to #43 at my draw length) and it would have made for a bad experience, other then I formerly shot a #30 bow a great deal between the age of 11-13 (too much bow at that age again) and a #55 compound between age 17 and 19(wonderful bow). So I had some old muscle memory for finding my anchor point and aiming quickly, before shaking.
    If I were to do it again, I would buy a three pice takedown bow, #18 or #20 limbs, get some arrows based on a chart, and shoot it till those arrows are worn out and mostly in the trash.
    Then upgrade to #30 limbs and new matching arrows. Do the same thing again, then go to #40 only once you can shoot 200+ arrows in a day at #30.
    Going to #40 right off the bat sucks because after about 50 arrows in a day, I'm done for accuracy and beging to develop bad form. Then it takes three days of rest to reset. A #20 would be awesome. Maybe I'll pick up a $140 #25 samick sage just for fun? Lol.

  • @cliffbrown4217
    @cliffbrown4217 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you tell me why you suggest we hook the string in the digits of our index and middle finger and you say we should keep the string in front of the digit on our ring finger, Instead us using the deep hook ?your method does work better but can you please tell me why? yes I am a hunter and I use a traditional recurve.

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main reason is that hooking too deep on the ring finger makes the wrist more likely to be kinked, and also loses some of the connection to the draw elbow (and the draw side alignment). With the hook slightly forward it allows the hand and wrist to be more relaxed, and crucially to connect your hook to the elbow more easily, which then allows better draw elbow alignment, a strong full draw position, and then a cleaner release. The release is also quicker and the string can push the fingers out of the way more easily with this hook, compared to if it's too deep. In the deep case you'll have to relax more of the hand and the arm, rather than just the last digits of the fingers, which means it's more likely to have an outward release.
