Thanks so much Marc for this video and generosity in the resources you make available. This was a great tip and led me directly to your tip on string transference.
Thanks Marc, for introducing this simple and effective concept. I really should set up a phone call with you!!! Can I ask how you look at which scales to play? Although roots aren’t being played, are you approaching the solo with appropriate scale/chord tones based on G and C alt/dominant chords?
Chris -- yes, the scales are actually just "chords playing linearly" in the way I conceptualize of these. Whether roots are played or not by comping (or bass), the soloing reflects the changes in harmony :)
greetings from BC ..tying to use Barry Harris chromatic scale alomg with these partials ....it gets interesting ....any ideas on that ? .....seems im getting good results mixing the G mixolydian for harris chromatics ....., kinda different for the G13 -flat13 partials with chromatic lines ???

Thanks!
Again very informative and useful tips for any level. Thank you Marc
Thank you Stuart!
Nice video. In total agreement. Chord extensions are the colors to play.

It's been my experience with fingerpicking that you can enhance alternate chord voicings through strategic omission.
GREAT THANK YOU MAESTRO!
