    In my experience, people who like to say they're nonbinary have one of the most fragile egos. Say one thing they don't like and you're automatically some sort of victim. I'm convinced they either didn't get enough attention as a child or their parents just gave them whatever they wanted and they expect that from the real world. They probably didn't have any many struggles in life, so they have to make one up to feel opressed and feel special. I don't want to walk on eggshells when hanging around friends, so I just steer clear of them. I've met too many to want to deal with them.

    • @vanillapinkfluff3477

      It’s so sad actually. A lot of them can be people who had a lot of problems growing up. Now they want to feel superior. They want to have a leg up like “hey look those guys are regular but I’m special. I’m non binary.” I’m convinced it’s either kids who think it’s trendy, people who want to feel superior or people wanting to escape adulthood. They’ll grow up and reality will tear them apart.

    I’m an openly bisexual man and tried to date a nonbinary person. Unfortunately, you’re not dating the individual you’re attracted to and experience tender feelings for. You’re actually committing to “dating” a theoretical concept of a person with no stable position other than “their” fluidity to build that relationship upon. I knew we were doomed when in the middle of a romantic moment between us, I jokingly said: “I am attracted to a boy that happens to be very feminine.” To which he responded: “But, I am neither.” Attraction is a spectrum, sure. But, it’s starts with a fundamental instinctive attraction towards male or female qualities. Same as a heterosexual man dating a woman with prevalent masculine characteristics.

  • @xJuliaGrimesx

    I tend to get frustrated at these discussions when these people claim that they are „beyond the stereotypes bc they‘re beyond the binary“ but then their thinking is so heavily influenced by stereotypes and traditional gender roles. You CAN be a masculine androgynous woman who has short hair and does „manly“ things while still acknowledging you are a woman. You can still be a man if you have long hair and like to wear makeup or whatever.

    • @babs_babs

      @@xJuliaGrimesx gender roles like daughter or niece or aunt don’t come with heavy stereotypes at all. not being able to recognize yourself in those roles is what nbs are talking about.
      your personal experience was you briefly questioning your womanhood because it didn’t fit into the stupid little box society says it should fit in. that’s a lot different than having a brain thats basically intersex. if it were as simple as just being a non conforming man or woman, they would just do that.

    I feel like people, claiming to be non-binary does a massive disservice to the LGBT community, because they fought so hard to prove that being gay is not a choice. Then comes along people claiming that gender is fluid and they can be either or depending on the day or what they’re wearing and it basically just tears apart everything that gay people fought for when they were still fighting for the rights to be able to get married. I don’t understand how the community can just blindly except these people when they literally ripped apart some thing that gay people fought so hard to prove.

      but doesn't that play into gender norms in which we are trying to get away from? what do you classify as a girl or a boy? There are 2 biological sexes, male and female. I know there are ppl born intersex but they still either have xy or xx. (correct me if I'm wrong) being a boy or a girl (gender) is a social construct. This is based on stereotypes eg women like the subject English and art whereas men like science. Surely identifying as non binary just reinforces these stereotypes as you literally have to label yourself as something else to get away from these traditional roles. We should be encouraging ppl that it's completely fine to be biologically male/female and its okay to not conform to gender stereotypes or act nothing like the stereotypical "boy" or "girl" this non binary stuff is silly ngl
      how do you not "feel" like a man or a woman when sex is based upon biological sex....

      @@fidgetthecrazy Exactly! It's so crazy! Imagine being a writer spending years fixing plotholes, making complex characters, and trying so hard to create something unique only for people to obsess about the main protagonists being gay lovers. Nothing else matters to those readers and the author, who is getting praised for the gay stuff and having the important stuff ignored, feels very bitter about it... It's insulting! Plus, there are so many things I could name that are average at best but the only reason they got attention at all is because it has gay stuff in it. It's like a cheap shot to success and pretty frustrating to those who put story first above everything else.
      And like you said, you can't call these people out because they twist your words around and gaslight you. It took me four years until I learned what gaslighting was and I felt so ridiculous when I learned I wasn't the problem at all. I feel so awful for people going through the same thing right now and have no clue that they're being manipulated. It really makes me angry when victims of these people cave in and apologize for nothing, basically turning them into spineless doormats who are afraid to speak up at all.The damage from internalized anger thanks to not being able to express it is so corrosive to one's mental state...

    Sounds like all of these people are just trying to reinforce the stereotypes while simultaneously being able to do whatever they want. Otherwise, why would you need to be not a man to do makeup or be punk? We’ve gone from “omg she’s wearing pants! That’s not ladylike” to “omg! I like to wear pants. I must be a dude” when life is too easy because you’ve been sheltered too much, this is what happens. No internal censoring of ideas and tantrums. Ask any parent of a toddler.

Now, while it's important to learn about such things, let us also take a bit of diversion-time today to celebrate #NationalSourdoughBreadDay (One needs Sustenance), as well as #InternationalPillowFightDay (Choose your Weapon). Then, for tomorrow, Happy #PalmSunday and #NationalPeanutButterAndJellyDay! Wonderful Weekend and Awesome April...

    • @zaffre8865

    Once you realize what you wear, what you feel, what you do to your hair, face etc. has nothing to do with gendar. Break free from society. I dont shave my legs but I'm still a women. I don't like pink but I'm still a women. I'm feminine but also sometimes masculine but I'm still a women. A man can garden, cook, paint, dance wear glitter and still be a man. I went to a bridal shower and her husband was very feminine and his outfit I think was very shiny etc. But he was straight, male and she was gonna marry him. He has a different culture from western culture... he's still a Male tho lol

    • @zaffre8865
      @zaffre8865 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah be whatever you want to be that’s the point!
      Some people happen to identify with a different gender or as neither or as both because that’s just who they are. It’s not the same as dressing masculine or feminine it’s about being masculine or feminine or in the middle in the way your brain works
      And i know there isn’t any set definition, it’s literally just how you feel deep down and there’s nothing wrong with that
      Just accept it and move on. Stop hating on marginalised groups. They have enough to deal with

    I will probably being classified as a “non binary” too since every test I’m doing I often find out I’m 52% female and 48% male but personally I’ve always felt I’m a woman (not a very feminine woman but still a woman).
    I think every human as both a male/masculine part and female/feminine part.
    If someone want to identify as a “non binary” I have no problem but people can’t deny that being non binary is connected to the old stereotypes of masculinity and femininity.

  • @JordanHopper
    @JordanHopper ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm nonbinary, agender to be exact, becuse I just don't have a preference of assigned sex at birth, nor a preference of pronouns, nor a preference of labels.
    I don't have dysphoria. But it would be foolish for me to pretend I'm a cisgender person.
    I just don't have that preferencce towards being my sex, nor the opposite.
    That's what makes trans and cis ppl stand out. Their preferences in self-labels.
    I don't have a preference.
    Simple as that.
