These types of things exist in every sport. Agassi used to read the tongue position of Becker to know where the serve was coming. If you do decide to take a break from full time TH-cam work, please please continue doing these special teams mini breakdowns once in a blue moon. It’s so refreshing to watch videos purposed on the nuances and small things.
100% agree. These short vids on exceptional play have provided me more information on special teams than anything else I've found. Isaac is fantastic at it.
I've been paying more attention to kickoffs and punts after watching your breakdowns. After you did the brerakdown on Logan Cookes misdirection i always look to see which hash they are lined up with. So when I saw this punt last night I knew you would do a breakdown. Very cool and interesting stuff.
It makes watching punts/kickoffs so much more engaging than just hoping for a touchdown. I was watching a high school playoff stream with a friend and I think the most excited I got was a punt that went 65yd (total with roll) to the 6. Actually looked kinda like this one, without the deception :D
That is awesome. It reminds me of the great baseball pitcher Greg Maddux. He would constantly play mind games with hitters early in the year, so when the playoffs came he could get them out. As a nerd myself, I love it when guys use their smarts to their advantage like this. Great job on this video man, very well done.
WHAT??? Greg Maddux was notoriously worse in the playoffs than the regular season. Just 11-14 in the playoffs, with a higher ERA than in the regular season.
Morstead was drafted in 2009. He's one of only two players drafted that year that are still playing, the other being Matthew Stafford. Incredibly, this was the longest punt of his lengthy career. That's amazing, in-and-of itself.
The power behind those legs man. 75 yards of what is essentially a lob-based ball. Lobs dont't typically travel that far, even with a kick. His legs are just built different.
i like that phrase… beware of an old man in a young man’s game. reminds me of the old man team that the washington football club put together way back in the… 70’s? oldest team in the league by far made a decent playoff run if i remember correctly.
Why did the Texan player look like he was contesting the ball at around 1:17? If he accidentally touches it, the Jets can regain possession or just score, I don't see the upside
Been waiting for the video on the cowboys doing their fake end around runback thing you were talking about last week. They actually tried it with the hand off and not just a fake, something you said you were waiting for. Where's that video at?
I saw that, I haven't made a video on it because the guy stumbled and it Turpin threw it forward so it was just a big let down. Not much to say except "they tried it but failed to actually execute"
@@IsaacPunts They had an illegal formation penalty earlier as well that was never explained or shown why it was even called too. A missed opportunity since so many of the rules on the new kickoff don't get into some of those finer points.
0:58 "Cheats his left foot forward so the returner won't notice" erm are you talking about barely moving his left foot up? It was never in ahead of his right foot, so I'm confused if you meant to say that lol
Great punts, but I'm wondering what the hell #32 is doing down there trying to block the downing man??? He can only make disaster by being anywhere near the football on that part of the field!!!
Morstead to himself: "damn can't believe that slipped off my foot, oh well turned out well" Morstead to everyone: Ah yes.. Yes.. That was.. Totally on purpose..
#32 on the Texans isn’t the smartest! You’re taught from a very young age to get away from the ball because if it hits you it becomes a fumble! So what does 32 do? He goes near the ball trying to stop the jets from pinning the ball and the ball comes close to hitting him 🤦🏼♂️ 🤦🏼♂️
When I was young I got played like this in softball from some old timers. They kept hitting them down the line and I cheated over more and more trying to pick them off. Dang if they didn’t go the other way in later innings. Crafty ol’ coots could put the ball anywhere they wanted.
Oh wow he totally tricked them lol, by kicking it out of bounce wtf. Ill be more surprised if he kicked it out of bounce during a kick off, that'll be more of a trick.
I had no idea this part of football even existed bro. There are levels to everything
Neither does Kyle shanahan. It’s cost the 49ers at least 2 games this year
@@agreen182 you dunno wuht ur talmbout
Live a few decades and it will be more apparent.

It’s american fooball. There really aren’t thet many levels.
I love the subtle feet shift so the returner doesn’t notice
Maybe I'm missing something but even if it wasn't subtle surely the returner would have no chance of seeing it from that distance?
@@finestjellybeansrawlol9486 or through the o-line and d-line for that matter
The returner does notice as the ball is caught, you can see him hedge to the right a bit
@@finestjellybeansrawlol9486 returner has superman vision
So did Isaac.
You are the Tony Romo of punting commentary. Seriously, better than anything on ESPN.
Longtime Saints fan here. Glad to see he's doing so well!

Agreed. This channel is tons of fun to watch. I love his enthusiasm for special teams nuances.
I am hoping that this ends up leading to a coaching job on special teams.

I was waiting for this video the second that punt started rolling.

His teammate A A Ron was drafted in 2005
@@andrewesau51ok
@@andrewesau51 It's crazy when you think about the shelf life of NFL players. They got it while they can.
Joe Flacco was drafted in 2008
What is #32 for the Texans even trying to do on that play? Only bad things will happen if you touch the ball.
hes not going for the ball hes just hoping to disrupt so it goes into the endzone
They're trying to block the NY player into the ball, to give them a free shot at some kind of return.
It looked like he helped the guy down the ball.
he disrupted the kicking team players and they stopped it at 2 yard line otherwise would be stopped at 1 yard easily
I noticed this last night because of your videos!

One of the most entertaining channels on youtube is about the kicking game in the NFL.
I don’t see many Channels talking about special teams. Awesome work!!
Morestead also did the onside kick in the super bowl.
The moment I saw this punt happen I knew you were going to talk about it.
1:13 why is no. 32 following the Jets gunner so closely? Isn't there a chance for a mistake that way?
Yeah really stupid play. Almost turned it over on the 2
That just shows that age = wisdom
Loved Morstead when he played for the Saints.
Brilliantly done by the old man.
Great analysis. Thanks for exposing the magic trick to the rest of us.
Was looking forward to this video! That kick was insane
Morstead has been the brightest light for this team, its great
never thought a punter would have someone say to him, “Can we get him a gold jacket, please?” But here we are! 😂
Love to see and old pro know his craft!
I have my doubts Morstead will be in the halls of Canton tho..
i like that phrase… beware of an old man in a young man’s game.

And then Houston proceeded to run right over the Jets defense going 98 yards for a touchdown.
It always amazes me when a returner lets it bounce and then almost touches the ball like this video
I told my wife “Isaac is gonna make a video about this one”
Why did the Texan player look like he was contesting the ball at around 1:17? If he accidentally touches it, the Jets can regain possession or just score, I don't see the upside
Just a beautiful punt
Love me some Thomas Morstead

Morstead my goat ✈️🟢
is it possible to award STPOW before Sunday?
Does anybody else out there remember this? It was called kicking to the coffin corner. Back in the day.
Is this the year of the kicker? or are we just now paying more attention
The rest of us get bummed when our team has to punt, but Isaac goes, "Pass me the popcorn!"
0:58 "Cheats his left foot forward so the returner won't notice" erm are you talking about barely moving his left foot up?

The punter is a Top 5 most important player on the roster! IMHO
This guy kicked the greatest ambush play in Superbowl history. It's a sin if he doesn't see the HoF.
I really wonder what liking a video about punting is gonna do to my youtube reccomendations
great stuff dude. 👍
Being left handed playing mens slow pitch softball I would shift my stance and hit the ball to right field every time same principle
can anyone suggest channels like this? That explain smart plays
Morstead is the Jets MVP for sure.
Playing for the jets gives a lot of practice and it shows
Saints fan here and we should've have never let him go
That’s just a true veteran punt.
Great punts, but I'm wondering what the hell #32 is doing down there trying to block the downing man??? He can only make disaster by being anywhere near the football on that part of the field!!!
I saw this punt, my first thought was. There has to be a breakdown video coming from Isaac
They've been looking at these traits and tricks while scouting for years
Super vid. Thanks
The Jets are one of those teams that always need a good punter.
Morstead to himself: "damn can't believe that slipped off my foot, oh well turned out well"

Thomas morstead needs to be in the HOF

Officially, a muff unless you actually had full possession first. Rules are slightly different
@ what are you talking about lol?
I miss having him in New Orleans kept special teams interesting.
And this dude doesn’t need a choreographed dance or excessive celebration after knowing he’s performed his duties like a boss. Amazing.
Being the punter of the Jets gave him a lot of practice. If you know what I mean. 😎
That's top punting right there.
Wish he was still a Saint
Once again, the Saints let a great player get away. Hendrickson. Sproles. Mills. And now Morestead. Damn.
Brilliant!
Did you just copy paste your jaguars punt video? Lol

Amazing
Not often when the announcers call a punt the "Play of the Game"
What in the world is #32 doing? Hoping for a wrong bounce and touch so the Jets are gifted the ball at the 2 yard line?
Great Vid
I watched this game and new an Isaac Punts video was coming
I might need to start chugging some cayanne pepper
Well as a Jet he gets a lot of opportunities
He's throwing up the baphomet hand sign.
when the best player on your team is your punter...
The best player on the Jets 😂
Never understood why they didn’t always nail the sideline.
Of course the jets have an elite punter. God knows they need to be able to at least do that.
WTF is #32 for the Texans doing, getting THAT close to the punt while it's bouncing and rolling? If he touches it it's the Jets'.
the football equivalent to the changeup
He gets a lot of practice.
jags vs packers jags punter coffin cornered the kick at 2 yard line...best punt in decades?
Wow he can still puny 75 even though he’s only 38 years old
Meanwhile Rugby/Footie players: 🤣🤣🤣🤣
why is that texans player anywhere close to the jets gunner downing the punt
nice
marquette king should be in the league but you wont cover that
Why would someone from the return team get so close to the ball when it's bouncing around? It's just so stupid.
My question is what the hell is that titan player doing there trying to stop the ball from rolling or what? Is he stupid?
The devil is always in the details.
maybe if the jets scored more we wouldn't need all these mind games smh
Saints F up for letting him go
So, has Hollman been booted off the kick return team yet? If that bouncing ball had touched him, the Jets could have recovered it.
7% of his punts are touchbacks
37% are inside the 20
and the saints thought it was a good idea to cut him :(
Oh wow he totally tricked them lol, by kicking it out of bounce wtf. Ill be more surprised if he kicked it out of bounce during a kick off, that'll be more of a trick.
Chess beats checkers
Free yards???? lol he earned them
Kind of sad how this is the only good part about the jets.
Amazing punter. Too bad the rest of the team is a garbage fire.
This is nonsense. The returner cannot even see the punter!
