During a timeskip, I switched my artificer from battlesmith to armorer. I reflavored them to have magical tattoo armor imbued with power associated with different constellations granted by their new warlock patron who is a literal star.

    Plot armor taken literally:
A writer protected by their own art, letters and ink moving alongside their ideas about developing a story that involves the events that are happening.
When hit, certain words illuminate themselves depending on the roll the enemy gets "boulder" "dragon" "victory" when they don't match the AC or "flower" "loss" "f**k" when the artificer is hurt

I played a plasmoid creation bard/armorer artificer. He was just a goo that woke up in the cast off potions bin in a wizard's study and learned how to reshape the bin into armor with his innate creative impulse. He went off looking for his "dad" who went off for Spell components one day and never came back.

My backup is an Armorer, Guardian primary. His race is a Metallic dragonborn but I'm flavoring him as a warforged who breathes lightning. Basically just a big murder bot.
Another idea I thought was cool, stemming from your Frankenstein idea and some Elden Ring inspiration is a grafter, you just take limbs and other parts of monsters or people you kill and graft them onto yourself as a means of providing the armor. Lots of potential honestly and thats part of why I love artificer so much, they can really be anything

I am currently playing in a campaign as this type of artificer. For his backstory I had him a researcher who was in the process of learning more about warforged but his colleges refused to continue his research. So he took it into his own hands, murdering and dissecting one, he proved his theories correct. Creating his armor out of the body of the warforged he killed. He was on the run. But after completing his armor (and meeting up with the party) he decided it was time to show the world what he has discovered. His current goal is to present the armor to the king to try and bolster their military.
He has found another body and has turned it into the other armor. And somehow some way do to poor rolling whenever one of the party gets suspicious due to something he says. The rest of the party hasn’t yet discovered his secret.
He is fun to play. Evil, crazy scientist, manipulative to a high degree. But because he is so helpful in combat (he is mostly a heal bot), people don’t question some of his questionable actions

Another ideal is you can draw inspiration from none other than Marvel's most popular hero Spider-Man. While most people want to make him a monk that doesn't really work for Spidey because he's a tinkerer. There's also the fact that you can flavor as either Peter, Ben Riley, Kaine Parker, or Miles.

I like the Symbiotic Living Armour idea. Inspired by the Spores Druid and Swarm Ranger, I would tend to go with a swarmy armour (mushrooms, (Mononoke-like) worms, ants ... forget Iron Man, say hi to Ant Man). And the familiar would be a subset of the swarm taking an inocuous animal form, like a cat.
My personal idea for an Armour/Armourer comes from Saint Seiya, where the armour is vaguely-divine, vaguely-sentient, and the wearer had to earn it, being kind of chosen by the armour.

i'm playing an artifacier with a symbiote but what we did mechanically was tweak the battlesmith so you could "wear" the iron defender, which basically just amounted to ruling we were one creature for spell targeting, using the best save, if they differ and having powerful build while joined.

My idea for a Jaeger Armorer Artificer is being a Reborn of a Small-sized lineage pretending to be a robotic Warforged inside the armor, perhaps hiding the fact that they're (un)alive.
If you start the campaign at Lv3+, you can even keep this a secret from the party. Design certain tells that the DM can throw at other players to try and notice.

I remeber an armorer artificier concept I had in my back pocket for a while. A member of a five man enforcer unit of a city (Basically Power Rangers SPD, but with a fantasy twist). The armor of the character is standard issue for the unit and come in five distinct colors. However, this character had to resine from his unit, taking the armor with him because the other enforcers were becoming more corrupt and violent. I was hoping to use this in a magitech-like setting to open up story possibilities.

Way back in the artificer flavor video you mentioned the Vivomancer idea and that really sang to me. I imagined an artificer transplanting parts of other creatures into himself (Island of Doctor Moreau style) and specifically taking the feat Devil's Sight by putting an actually devil's eye into his head. I don't have any new ideas to contribute today but it was pretty cool to see an image of basically that in one of your videos. And, yes, I'm going to look at your Splicer Warlock.

I took inspiration from a few of these concepts and for a campaign I’m running this summer. I’ve decided I’d play as shiftling armorer. Over time I’ve collected dna from animals and monsters alike for genetic modification. Once I gain the ability to forge my armor I combine the concoction with my own. With the armor being the “mediator” all 3 parts assimilate leaving me as the D&D version of Cell.

Some awesome ideas here. Though you kind of danced around one in particular I was pondering myself.. I've always liked the idea of playing a proper dragon, but not for the power-factor, but just how different adventuring would be from the perspective of say, a 10 year old, small dragon. While the monsters-as-a-class aren't a built in feature for 5e, it occurred to me you could do mostly the same thing by taking artificer, where your abilities in armorer are just your physical (and magical) body maturing and getting more powerful. It's not a perfect fit, obviously, but there's many ways to get the effect of a breath weapon, or even just a smaller, more rapid fire with the stealthier armor version.

So I know I'm late to the party, but the Yaeger idea is something I've been thinking about but couldn't quite figure out how it would work.
Your video definitely helped, and I've even gotten an idea.
An Artificer Gnome whose family is a long line of Golemancers. His family would hand down the tradition to their descendants every generation. His parents had taught him everything that they could about Golemancy and A.G. (idk a name yet) uses his knowledge on Golems for his suit.
Of course, his parents are always worried about him and send "mystic messages" through his Golem just to make sure he's doing alright, eating well, etc.
The idea needs a bit more refinement but you get the over all image.

Lore wise, her name is Abigail Armiger, a 40k Squat that was displaced from her universe when her race mysteriously disappeared, with her ending up in a fantasy setting with a broken suit of high tech armor. The first 4 levels is her getting the armor jury-rigged enough to start working, then the rest is her unlocking access to the suits many functions. And don’t call her Dwarf, she’s wack you with her trusty auto-spanner (Warhammer).

Once I discussed relavouring an armourer artificer into a Witch.
Your Armour is more than just a normal srt of armour, but rather your collection of charms, beads, babbles, rune carved leather, hide and fur that you wear. Rather than the armour itself that is so magical, it is all of your goodies that are all on it that give you power.
Lightning launcher is easily a medalian or charm that shoots magic, thunder guantlets are pretty easy charmed gloves or rings that inflict a "inflict wounds" like attack or curse. Pretty thematic for witches to touch someone and hurt them with a screeching noise cutting through their mind

I have an armorer artificer and wild magic barbarian multiclass on the bench. He is a faun who was born with an overabundance of wild magic, which caused arcane infections (cantrips firing within muscle tissue) to occur. He might have lost a limb or three to a frostbite that occurred within the muscles. His mentor (using gold gained through dubious means) invested in artificial limbs that would move using the excess wild magic as a power source. This stopped the surges for awhile, but the wild magic grew stronger as he aged. Alphonse decided to power his inventions (spells) and armor from his excess wild magic. His model is the guardian, so his thunder gauntlets are powered through (again) sapping the excess. However, all these powered elements are not enough - when he is upset, the wild magic bursts forth - the armor unable to contain it but removing it from his system so he does not loose another limb to a misplaced frostbite.
He is also a super artistic / fashion driven fellow, so he likes to decorate his armor with stained glass and intricate brass elements. He attends craft fairs and sells beautiful stained glass windows for a couple silvers.
Alphonse is also the blunt and less than talkative sort due to his upbringing. His mentor was not talkative, so the two communicated through actions rather than words. He will likely show his affection to his potential party members in a similar vein.
I hope to play him sometime. There's more to him, but I wanted to keep this short and related to his class flavoring.

Things they should have never done. Swap Magic Missile with the Artillerist and Shield spell with the Armorer. Armorer needs the shield spell. Ways you can go around this is Strixhaven background, custom lineage or variant human for racial feats. -- Also taking Wizard 2 (War Wizard) seems to not be a big deal. - This also slows progression to the 'cap stone' feature of level 9 with overriding the infusion level but if magic items are prevalent in your campaign and you can purchase magic items, I would take this route. -- Lower levels you are the tankiest of tanks if you look at supplementing your saves, AC and hp (tough feat accomplishes this with the Widlspacer background or one of the starting feat races.) -- Know that you aren't going to do be doing damage and that's okay. Play a utility tank and be okay with that if you want to be an armorer. Don't fall into the trap of trying to be good at everything, you are self sufficient and can setup your team do do damage and keep them healthy.
Flavor wise: Experiment. Mega Man? Metroid/Samus? Use forbidden rites to incorporate demons or monsters into your armor. Use forgotten rites and carve symbols into your skin to cast your spells. Use the campaign as inspiration and modify accordingly.
My flair was a goblin who found a long forgotten suit of armor that had history behind it of an epic battle that was damaged. Having a knack for figuring things out, pilots it like a mecha and is a medium sized creature to masquerade among the non-evil races and become the hero he always wanted to be hiding in anonymity for fear of the backlash of his racial prejudices, never once letting the party once I was a goblin. At the end of the campaign he showed himself when he received a medal for his bravery.

this is a good thought, because the only complaint a person could really have with the armorer is it's kind of a...chicken breast class. it's real good, but it's a little dry if you don't add your own flavor.
