Can Resin Cook an Egg?

  • Just Evan and Katelyn here answering the questions you never asked, like will epoxy resin cook an egg?!?
    SAFETY NOTE! We had the garage well ventilated with fans while the epoxy cured and used a fume extractor when the epoxy got hot and there was more vapor. Also never sand partially cured epoxy and wear masks when sanding.

      After watching Bobby Brown pour resin into ostrich eggs and seeing how much it cracks, I think the egg would just be destroyed along with a bunch of expensive epoxy

    • @ballisticbee6001

      Even if the egg did survive the heat it would probably be unedible due to epoxy fumes that leaked through the shell.

    Thanks for watching our SCIENCE (adjacent) video. We forgot to mention in the video, but we opened up the garage door and had some fans going while the epoxy was curing. If you're using a bunch of epoxy, make sure you have some ventilation or wear an appropriate mask! Also, we forgot to add degrees in C on screen. To give a reference, 150F (the temp eggs need to reach to be cooked) is about 65C. Hope that helps!

      A fan, or fanatic, sometimes also termed aficionado or supporter, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody, such as a singer or band, a sports team, a genre, a politician, a book, a movie or an entertainer. Collectively, the fans of a particular object or person constitute its fanbase or fandom. They may show their enthusiasm in a variety of ways, such as by promoting the object of their interest, being members of a fan club, holding or participating in fan conventions, or writing fan mail. They may also engage in creative activities ("fan labor") such as creating fanzines, writing fan fiction, making memes or drawing fan art.

    A tip for future experiments! You can reuse hardened epoxy by simply adding it to a new batch and if they are the same color the scraps/chips of the old epoxy will combine with the new and become seemless (is the best way i can explain it? Haha) basically if you add old epoxy to new it’s like an easy filler so you don’t have to use more epoxy in the future. Something along those lines 😂

    what a cool way to cook an egg !! rocked as always 😊. Btw a quick question (maybe its a dumb question) , does taking a larger proportion of hardener leads to a faster & aggressive reaction releasing more heat ?? which could reduce the cooking time. OR the result will be a lower heating due to lack of epoxy molecules to react with the hardener. what do you think??

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we've heard that more/less hardener can effect the curing time so it's a possibility, but it's not something we've tested ourselves 🤔🤔

    i live in Arizona, we can fry eggs on car hoods and sidewalks here in the summertime. it rarely reaches temperatures above 120 degrees, so..... not sure your scientific accuracy. i do realize certain surfaces can absorb heat and get much hotter than the outside temperature, but this experiment has been done here WAY TOO MANY TIMES, literally every year in science class growing up. fun episode though ✌🏼😻✌🏼
