Slipply doesn't get 5 income per gear companion, he gets 5 income per gear companion PER WAVE. That adds up to a lot of income if you can stack several early. Also note that Slippy's damage penalty is a flat -80 to damage amp, so gaining damage amp in order to offset this is vital to being able to deal damage in the later half of the run.
yes you can get strawberry as slippy. thats what i did for my clear on slippy. Prio luck and treasure detection items, the rage heart that gives me heart on chest open and also got a few rabbits for more speed. I just ignored enemies and ran everywhere and sustained through chests while tanking damage with my massive hp bar thanks to strawberry
You could also mention that the hairdryers are really OP. I got lucky and got a companion with a staff(mage) and one with dynamite early, they just snowballed everything. Didn't need to open chests at all. Except for run 1-3. I focused primarly on my runs to jsut get insane high ranged damage on companions, and high knockback and thye were never able to touch me .
I was so mad when I tried for hours and one of my run was 1 second left before victory. I screamed 😡. BUT I finally had a dream run with early high income items

Your worst enemy as slippy is your own companions knocking enemies into you. Be very careful not to have enemies between you and your companions.

So I just did a slippy run and I encountered a strawberry. So you can get it
I really don't remember how I finished my Slippy run, but I do remember that the enemies are every very slow so you can just group them in the middle
Yes, you stack movement speed and buy red/blue pills that reduce enemy speed
