  • Unhinged gamer laments the state of the GW2 community and the precarious future of the game while soloing a fractal.
This is simply off-the-cuff complaining being posted for cathartic purposes. Don't take anything personally. If you don't think I am talking about you, I'm probably not.
The game is just much better than the community rn imo, and so I'm upset about it.

Idk. I discovered gw2 3 months ago and I have played many other similar games, wow included. And I am more than happy to tell everyone that gw2 is the best mmo/rpg game on the market. I really didn't want to like it because I was playing 3 different games at the time, but now this is the only game I'm playing.

The same. I've been playing for about 3 months. I still think there's room for improvement.

GW2, in it's current form, is the best I've played. And I've played MMOs since the first were introduced. Hell, I played MUDs in the early 90s. Now, best is entirely an individual notion. TBH, I enjoy the game even more when I stay off REDDIT :) I also like SOTO, a lot. IBS had some very poor writing but Drizzlewood is still fun despite how much I've ground on it.

For me the problem is in comparison to what was released in the past. After how little the quarterly release patch is (which replaced LW), it was so little content to add. Even with SOTO there's not even an ascended armor set to get but you got this in LW.
I think the only upside with the new expansion model is regular guaranteed content. But in all honesty, with 2 expansions I think they have less content than 1 of the first 3 expansions and it's sad to say but I think season 3 or 4 give more content than 2 of these new expansions (using Soto as the blueprint for future ones)

I personally don't think that the current doom is any indication for the game dieing in the near future.
People have had a lot of disappointments with anet and especially after EoD, where those people had pretty much a year of no really new content (eventhough most never played LWS1). And then after that year they got a good looking map, with a mediocre meta ... and then the really bad tunnel. So people were already primed to be in a doomer state. The missing hype or marketing von anet, didn't make it much better. Up until that point i could really understand why they would be sad about the state of the game. But then came the asset reuse complaint....
That was the unhinged phase, where people tried to find stuff with the game, to validate their current mindset about the game. But i personally think that is a big forums and reddit phänomenon about the game. Everyone else that is not full on doomer mode, loves the expansion. The lore nerds love the new direction the game is taking. The way they are going is really promising. Tpot was never really playing the game, more the community. He is the gamer that wants a challenge and gw2 will most probably never fullfill that for him. So it's fine when he goes somewhere else, for the hardcore content. The streams of PreachGaming were recently really positive for and about the game, which refreshed me a lot, seeing people having fun with the game. Same with laranity, always a good vibe, and refreshes the batteries if you feel burned out from defending the game.
I personally stay away from doomer streams, and try to ignore the reddit and the forums. Those are places, that just drag you down. The game seems to be doing fine and with the current quality of story in a really good place. Give it some months until the doom that exploded with Gyala Delve has gone away. Have fun with the content you love to do, help some new people and watch their experiences. It is really nice to how well people receive the game with fresh eyes.
We have to agree that Anet had some issues in the past especially recently, with corona, staff cuts and so on... but how things are currently looking, they seem to be on the rise again, and it feels good to see them creating great content.

Also something additional: Content creators for guild wars have no power at all to drag down the game really. The content creator scene is so small, not even a fraction of the community is aware of the creators. People will have their opinons... can't do much about it. Don't concentrate too much on the loud minority.

i am glad ncsoft took over, anet forgot they were a guild wars 2 game studio and wasted a lot of effort that could have been put into gw2 much sooner.
