Valentina Lisitsa is my preferred one in this piece I think she get very close to the feeling of Liszt with a combination of energy, power of sound and virtuosism
@@raulvega5178 Lang Lang has an excellent technique, no doubt but sometimes I feel him far from rhe european sensibility and for certain authors IMHO a technically "perfect" performance (as intended by the artistic directors of the major recording companies) is not always the best manner of serving the composer. For what concerns authors like as Rachmaninoff and Liszt I definitively feel Lisitsa is on another level (that's my opinion of course) On the other side I admire Lang Lang since even if he' s a top performer he's always studying very much and improving and his interpretations are getting better and better along the years (there is an abyss between his early performance of Bach's Goldberg and the last live recording in Leipzig).
most of the time thats true, but as far as the campanella goes, i slightly prefer kissin. bit more fire and risk, while not making more mistakes than lisitsa (who also regularly has a few hiccups in this piece, which is almost unheard of in her case)
I think it'd be a good idea to take the best sections played by each artist and put them into one. We're all talking about videos on this site right? So, let's begin with Kissin sitting down and announcing the piece to the audience in that contagious Russian accent. Come next, Lang Lang's hand gesture and Dudamel imitating him. Add a few mixes in between...here's a good part to show difference styles by the masters. Now comes the highlights, such Lang Lang.exe has stopped working/he's been possessed by Listz. Kissin rocking so hard a hair committed suicide. And we can end it with the finest Brazzer's intro by Astanova. Boys, wouldn't that be fun.
I generally and always listen to E Kissin interpretation which to my taste is superior, however there were several pianist in this video I hadn’t listened to before and I am impressed.
I actually don't like langlang performance but i can't say anything about when he playing a Lacampanella. Lang Lang is the best interpretation Lacam ever
A real pity I don’t see Martha Agerich playing La Campanella on this video and mainly ANYWHERE else on TH-cam!! At ANYTIME in her long-storied career! She SHOULD have played it! Whatever reason for her not playing it BE DAMNED!!! 😤 🎹
La Campanella sure is a showy piece but it got nothing on Liszt's early versions of his etudes...check out S. 140 no. 4. Now THAT is a monster to play!
I liked her Liebestraum no. 3 but her La Campenalla interpretation is definitely not “up my alley”. It’s rushed and inelegant even in my opinion. Still what I like about her is that she always adds something to a piece, be that for better or worse, it’s more daring than most professional pianists nowadays that are scared of playing a piece differently because it’s not the norm.
@@hercules2524 lol, you should go back to hear those two again, yundi li actually made a mistake but his interpretation is so musically astounding that it passes even the likes of kissin, lisitsa and lang lang.

Bloody hell I thought 18 of them playing all at once. I would actually like to see how powerful that would sound

I've always liked Valentina Lisitsa's the best.

Khatia's my favourite pianist, her playing is so elegant. I also love the version of her playing Liebestraum No. 3 by Liszt.
Solo una vez escuché a Katia interpretar la rapsodia húngara de Liszt y no me gustó para nada su versión. Parece que no la aprendió aún a tocarla.
