The first glass piece you said was chipped, I’m fairly certain it’s a base to a lamp, and the “chip” is where the cord goes. Check the other one for it.
The Philco radio is awesome! The bakelite knobs are what people love and you could easily transform that if u wanted to keep it. It's too bad blankets get tossed. There are so many homeless that have nothing and would love a blanket. Even if they were laundered and given to the shelters and they can hand them out. At least here in Atlanta they open them at night when it gets really cold so they dont freeze to death but they dont let in animals. Lots of people wont go for that reason. They have dogs or cats that may be their only friend and they wont leave them by themselves overnight. God bless their souls.
The Philco Cathedral radio looks to be a Model 60, good parts are the knobs, the tubes and the chassis. All will sell at a flea market. (I have had a number of this model collecting radios for 30+ years)
In Nova Scotia Canada I believe we are only allowed to put one one black bag of garbage and three clear garbage bags every two weeks the rest we have to recycle in see through blue bags for plastics and paper. We put our food in a green bin. I can't imagine throwing out things that people can use.
Similar here in the UK, but no bags allowed, everything has to be in bins (trash cans). One bin for general waste, one for recycling and one for compostable waste (garden and food). Where we now live, general waste and recycling alternate collection weeks. Garden waste is a paid for option collected every two weeks between spring and autumn. Last city we lived had general waste every two weeks with recycling/garden alternating between general waste. Anything not in bins won't be taken. Wrong sorting means the bin won't be emptied and you get a warning sticker! Local councils have targets for proportion of waste recycled and can be fined if they don't meet them so they are quite keen.
Those toothbrushes looked kind of big - maybe for a large dog? Some unopened DVDs still sell on ebay. That wedding tape may have been from a friend or family member who sent out tapes after the wedding. My first though was you could return and ask if they wanted it back, but then I realized how awkward that would be. “HI, I took all your trash and rooted through the bags…”
I love the garbage bags! I collect old radios like that. They all work but one day I'm hoping to find one that doesn't so I can gut it and make a bird house out of it. 😃
The bag with the blankets....it looked like the one could have been a Sans Marco....those can go for a bit of money since they are not being made any more...just an FYI.... I love these videos....treasure hunting and we go with!!!! Awwww I loved the dog...I'd have to glue him....Think they put things in baggies for when they threw em in the trash the glass stayed contained....Sands casino is closed, maybe worth something..... So fun!!!!!!!!!!
People are strange.So will go out of their way to bring you a bag full of unsaleable filthy clothes and toys that are missing pieces and go in the dumpster. Then people that will put useful saleable items that will make money out for trash.Go figure .
I don't understand why families throw out wedding photo's. I would be so happy to take my relatives memories. I'm on Ancestry and when I get a photo from my family I cherish it. Thank goodness Renea you save those moment's in life for someone else to have.

Make sure you take lots of hand sanitizer with you, when you pick thru all that garbage.👍Boy all them treasures in that trash.Never know what ur going to find.Where i live, our local Dollar Store, just put up a huge steel fence around there garbage dumpster.Now nobody can dig thru the trash.Great score on the DVDs and the Blurays.👍😀
Probably because of all those that just make huge messes while they are searching. And those kind of people really upset me. What if someone else wants to search and their treasure just got thrown and busted because it wasn't what that person was into. I hope this makes sense when you read it. A lot of my stuff doesn't. I can't express myself to well anymore. 💞

Hi I’ve been watching you since one of your first videos. I don’t comment much. About the wedding videos. I understand why those would make you sad being trashed like that. Me too. I have some thoughts on why. Maybe the couple in the videos are not the people throwing them out. Possibly they had a copy of a wedding from people they are no longer close with or just have no desire to look at the wedding anymore. Or if the couple are not married anymore and the marriage came too a bitter end. Or if a spouse died maybe it seems to be much too painful to watch again. Or the tapes have degraded and no longer are viewable or it’s a second copy or they had multiple copies made. That happened with many people who got married during the Cam Corder days 😂 everyone thought they were a professional and it saved people money on their budget for the wedding.

PHILCO!!! All right! I’ve never seen a Philco cathedral out with the trash. I looked it up - it appears to be a model 91B from 1932-33. I’m SO GLAD you picked it up!
I remember as a kid going into a department store and winding all the alarm clocks to go off at a certain time and then hiding and waiting for the alarms to go off, seeing the staff quickly turning them all off. 😇
The Auction Professor did a video on November 7th about old tubes in radios, etc. Some of them can worth a lot of money. His video title is "These Are Like Finding A Box Full Of Money". I had noticed some in that old radio you found. Great video!
Well, bag lady, I would say you are off to a good start. It seems you have a follower that knows about old radios, if I remember correctly. Maybe he can give you some insight on the value of the parts on the old Philco. I have to say that was quite a surprise. Should be interesting to see what's in the rest of the bags. @@PaperandMoose I don’t like scented things especially artificial chemical smells. And my mom actually gets difficulty with breathing if she uses those scented trash bags. It’s almost impossible anymore to find unscented trash bags. They’re all similar smells gross too me

I'm 67 years old and have all my kids baby things and certificates . I collect antique porcelain high heel shoes and lady heads, my kids have no interest they have told me it's going in the trash when I die.

You do what me and my daughter does. We also get what people leave behind in their apartment once they move out and we get free stuff from other people.

I have a noise machine (thanks to loud neighbors) that sounds like an air conditioner mixed with that hum sound when you are sitting on a plane. It really helps to drown out the neighbor's vacuuming at 1am 🤣

My German Shepherd Ozzy was gray she looked like a wolf 🐺 . People would always ask me how I got a wolf as a pet. I miss her so much.. I love the little bible with the rosary . Jersey Boys is a good movie! Tom Hanks produced it, true story about Frankie Vallie (idk spelling) even if you're way too young to know who that is promise your mom does. Everyone has heard at least couple of his songs sometime throughout life. Its a really great movie regardless its before my time too but I enjoy movies based on true facts, characters that are set in places we know. That is set on East Coast its really how the music industry was ran, how Vegas may still be to some degree even in 2021. Worth checking out if you can handle some original songs ( its not a musical) if not worth giving to mom or grandparents to see before you sell.
You need to just take all the bags. At this point it’s not so much what’s in them but the fact that people like to watch you go through them. More subscribers; more views. Glad to see your numbers climbing.
Hi P&M, you mentioned magnets to tell brass but did you know an earth magnet you can determine if an object is brass or bronze? There will be a slight magnetic attraction to a earth magnetic if it is brass. Bronze no attraction. Amazon has nice small earth mags at reasonable prices. Your video had glass too. A black light can tell you pre WW1 glass, mostly, if it fluoresces green, or at least old glass. For lead glass, I have heard, look at print through the glass. If it “reads” right side up - lead glass. Upside down regular no-lead glass. Regards, Jeff
Interesting bag! The wedding tape is sad 😞. It’s possible they never had kids. I can’t imagine a child throw that out but who knows about relationships. Not for us to judge. Very interesting all the broken items in bags. I imagine through the years the big waggy tails of those German shepherds knocked a few things down. Maybe they were sentimental and just couldn’t throw the stuff out.
Ohhh…so glad you saved the Philco Cathedral radio!!! Even if unsalvageable the escutcheon and many of the other parts are able to be sold. Good find!!! I love old radios!!

With so much stuff in individual plastic bags it makes me wonder if they weren't maybe bought from some sort of second hand shop and just never opened? Like.. a hoarder situation? With the number of items still with tags on it seems pretty likely.. or maybe they were resellers of some kind? But it certainly does make you worry/wonder after the previous owners..
That's the "Thrill of the Thrill!" Philco, "60"...one of the icons of the vintage radio era! That's how I found six of my vintage sets...in trash situations! Well, the new generation simply streams those movies today. I see piles of DVD players and discs in the stores out here. Eventually, the DVD and CD will go the way of the 78 record, which is still very welcome to this [78] collector.

I wish the US was like that. Some places don’t even do curbside recycling (and sometimes that costs).

Ohhh…so glad you saved the Philco Cathedral radio!!! Even if unsalvageable the escutcheon and many of the other parts are able to be sold. Good find!!! I love old radios!!

With so much stuff in individual plastic bags it makes me wonder if they weren't maybe bought from some sort of second hand shop and just never opened? Like.. a hoarder situation? With the number of items still with tags on it seems pretty likely.. or maybe they were resellers of some kind? But it certainly does make you worry/wonder after the previous owners..
I would probably take all the bags and look through all of it. I am just love to dig and find something great.
That's the "Thrill of the Thrill!" Philco, "60"...one of the icons of the vintage radio era! That's how I found six of my vintage sets...in trash situations! Well, the new generation simply streams those movies today. I see piles of DVD players and discs in the stores out here. Eventually, the DVD and CD will go the way of the 78 record, which is still very welcome to this [78] collector.
