Here in America there are plenty of restored Model Ts and Model As ,but it's rare to find an old Peugeot in that condition. Awesome find! Looking forward to your videos on this project. Keep up the good work.
I am restoring a 1921 Peugeot Quadrilette. The Quadrilette is quite similar to your 190S, including the trans-axle, the engine design/displacement and the very basic suspension. I hope you post another video when your car is running.
Way cool! I think you are pretty much the perfect guy to do restoration work on a car like this. Those of us who have been following you know that you have the requisite skills and tools to do the sometimes difficult jobs that are part of such a restoration. This promises to be a really fun video adventure for us. Re: your buying technique, I feel called upon to offer a complementary (selling) approach. Way back in the late '70's I took a break from technology and started a business making redwood burl tables, clocks, etc. I sold them at arts and crafts fairs out here in California. One of the things that I learned fairly early on is that when someone would come to my booth and exclaim, 'Oh, George! Look at these GORGEOUS tables!' and so on, I knew that they were partying, and they were not in the market for a table like this. I would help them party, and make no attempt at all to sell them a table. When a real customer showed up, what I would see is that even at a distance, when they saw my tables, right away their expression would become serious. After all, they were possibly about to part with quite a bit of money to purchase a centerpiece for their living room, so it was no trivial matter. Then they would go straight to the price sticker, and they would see that it was too low. They know the prices, and this is not enough for a table of this obvious quality, so now they are really worried. They would figure that there MUST be something really wrong with it, but what is it? A coffee table is much easier to check out than a car. They would get down on knees and look carefully underneath. Then they would ask me about what finish I used, how the base was attached, etc. It was usually a husband / wife pair, and they would have to agree on any purchase like this, so sometimes they would take a walk away for awhile to discuss it. But typically, their eyes glowed when they looked at their chosen table, so I could read that. I prided myself on providing superb value for money in this niche market, and my marketing expenses were modest, so I was happy to give them a good deal, plus free delivery. So I just wanted to point out that your approach to buying is known to some sellers!
Thanks for the comments and write-up. Indeed what you described is so true and professional sellers know the way how i described my method. However, the private person ( non seller) typical can't read behind the facade... That is why I never buy from professional sellers...
Very neat! So now Old Rusty has a French sister. Should be an interesting series of videos. I like your facial expressions and buyers noises..."Mmm...huh... Ooh, that's not good..." And the face scratch. They do work. Thanks for taking us along.
Lovely little car and so much similar to my 1932 Morris Minor S.V. accelerator in the middle and brake to the right. It's not important if you get confused and press the accelerator instead of brake not much happens, and if you brake instead of accelerate not much happens.
Very interesting video and well produced as always. You should consider a few segments on your production methods as your videos are so easy to watch and informative.
Morning Steve. Hope your ok 👍🏻 That was a steal at 4K 🤣 This is going to be another great restoration on what is a fantastic channel anyway 😄 Clocks go back tonight in the uk so dark nights and great videos. Keep safe have a nice weekend cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
Hi Steve. Yes thanks all good this side of the pond 👍🏻 I’m back in work now full time and hopefully for a longer time now 👍🏻 I’m just leaving Heysham for Belfast on the overnight boat 🤣 Cheers Stevie 😎🏴
Great car. We call that era of car a "vintage car". Nice to see and no doubt not a single car made by Peugeot in the last thirty years will survive as long. Top stuff young man!
I think this old car is great. What it needs more than anything is another car just like it to pattern the wind screen and hood stitching to make the hood look perfectly normal. With a bit of artistic flair the windscreen can look perfect. This car can drive around town just fine. The starter ring looks like it should be touched up. Did the starter come with?
Good of you to pass on useful advice. My advice is for people to be realistic when buying cars, make sure you have the money and are genuinely interested in working on them otherwise you are wasting everyone's time. Nothing worse than trying to sell a car and get dreamers and idiots annoying you, it's second only to those who try to rip you off. Also buy the best you can afford as it will cause less heartache down the road.
Regarding the magneto .Generally they were built to a very high standard and don't normally require replacement but one thing that does prevent them working are the magnets. They need to be remagnetised from time to time if the vehicle is not driven regularly .A good mag puts out a spark that will make a arc welder look small. (please do not grip the crank like that when trying to fire it up...) it used to be a service provided by Autoelectricians and Bosch service places but i guess today you will have to do a search of the local oldtimer car clubs for a magneto specialist. The points can be a problem as it usually means a set has to be adapted from a regular distributor . Also, your Peugeot explodes a myth ,that Ford Australia built the first utility vehicles in 1934 ... 😁
Thank you for the comments and very good tips... I will need to find the right way to cranck it without braken fingers and hands. Any tips ? The magneto, I will have a look what state its in ... and if need be re-magetise the magnets... I might have to build something for that
And Steve add ANOTHER project to the list..... LOL Nice find! I hope that you don't have to swap out the Magneto - they work great and don't need an external electrical system..... plus it will add to the originality of the car!
I usually end up watching project cars that I’m interested in for a while...yes, you can lose a project in this manner, but I often think “if it’s meant to be, it will be”. I find that if you go when a project is first listed, the seller is reluctant to sell to the first offer as he/she thinks there will be more people waiting in the wings. If it’s been a couple of weeks and it still hasn’t sold and interest is waning, then they are more likely to consider a realistic offer. Now, there are projects that are often too good a deal to pass up...no risk, get your money back out of it type ones if they don’t pan out...these are the ones you need to jump on and show up with cash in hand.
Vintage 76 vipergreen # Romeo ... good question, but based on his location it might be easier to use something more native to the area than a US made Ford.
Nice little old timer you got there. If I may propose a name for her, it would be something related both with her color and with part of the name of the garage in Cahors. One of the name is Barat. In French, baratte is the name for the tool where you pour milk to make cream and butter. Cream would be nice. La Crème would be even better as this was a French car. Tschuss.

Spares supply, is possibly the most important thing, depending on your ability to fabricate anything you need. If you have to pay other people to make things or supply services, costs will rack up VERY quickly. I have a car that there are zero spares available, for me this is ok, I can make most things I need, but even the few bits I'm having to outsource rack up costs really quickly. Just as well it's all good fun.

Nice car , and a nice new project! Congrats! What me made laugh was the way that you invited young people of this period of time to make a telephone call with a dial telephone! They do not even know how it works! First you have to unhook the speaker. They do not know this! then they have to dial, number by number the complete telephone number. Even that they are not knowing! ... and then you have to wait untill the connection finally is established. Even that feature a 14-year old is not aware off! ...We're getting older! ... geef het maar toe! :-)
Thanks for the comments Jan, and indeed ... its the same with so many things... take away the GPS and they are lost... reading a map and compass is lost knowledge for most youngsters...
What a lovely little motor car, going to be fun to restore and drive. I love the telephone number 45😂. Can you image someone asking your telephone number and you say 45😅
Absolute a great car.we also have one,and also a spare (donor car) with a good cassis for sale.( in the Netherlands) if some one interessted let me now.
I hate selling cars but One trick I learned decades was to engage the potential buyer in a conversation Unrelated to the car.... After a few minutes chatting about weather, golf, politics, the buy nearly always makes a better offer than i was expecting and most of the time they simply say, OK, the car, I'll take it. When it comes to buying and the price is too high and a offer isn't going to be accepted, I walk.
I got a 1991 Fiat Padmini without watching your video 🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️ oh man I regret it now 😭😭😭🥺🥺☹️☹️ the car runs fine though but having solex bic 32 carb probs 😕
She is a beutiful Peugeot utility vehicle and needs a beutiful french name. If you combine the "Peug" from Peugot and "ut" from utility as one word it sounds beutiful when spoken with French pronunciation. I have however not figured out how to spell it in English. Possibly something like "Perchute"?
Concerning Oldtimers, I don‘ t think, there is a difference bitween private sellers or companies. They all need money and oldtimers in bad condition are always hard to sell. Companies know this.
For sure, to get a good bargain, you need to be a good actor. Not a job for me... A lot of work is required on this antique Peugeot. The body, fenders, wind screen, need time and love. Another great project of yours to follow... We all appreciate you speak some french words.👍 Why not a french name for this Peugeot ?
Thomas Horst ... I used to have the same problem because I am TOO honest. The key is to NOT talk much unless it's about the weather or your drive there. Once you start looking at the vehicle ask questions and look for flaws. When you find a flaw you will automatically have a look of concern on your face.... and that's what you want the seller to see. If you like something then face away, stroke your chin, and move along. Don't let them see the gleam in your eye. Also take notes so you don't stumble on words when talking money. Ask for "your best price" before you make a counter offer. You never know what the last guy on the phone said or if he's willing to come down below what you have in mind. First guy to mention price is the looser. Make the owner go first so you can see where he stands..... then shake the tree again to see if he will drop a few bucks.
You're spoiled for choice in EU, down here in Australia we have very few options. Those that are available sell for stupid prices, rusty old bits of tat with burn out or completely missing electronics or a frankenstein selling for $Ks.
Very true! However there is no rush and I completed te MGB GT V8, the Mini ( except the tuning video this week) , the DAX rush... Still need to work on Old Rusty ( but that is parts issue for the monent) and the Peugeot, well that will need to wait a while

Thanks for the comments, indeed that phone number is so funny . but then again it was 1929
Bonjour Steve 😊

I hate selling cars but One trick I learned decades was to engage the potential buyer in a conversation Unrelated to the car.... After a few minutes chatting about weather, golf, politics, the buy nearly always makes a better offer than i was expecting and most of the time they simply say, OK, the car, I'll take it. When it comes to buying and the price is too high and a offer isn't going to be accepted, I walk.
Thank you for the comments , very true...
What a beauty

She is a beutiful Peugeot utility vehicle and needs a beutiful french name. If you combine the "Peug" from Peugot and "ut" from utility as one word it sounds beutiful when spoken with French pronunciation. I have however not figured out how to spell it in English. Possibly something like "Perchute"?
Thanks for the comments, hahaha funny John.... love it... Sound a bit like the French cop in allo allo. Peugut
I would love to find one of these at a bargain price just like this that needs a little bit of work he’s a neat looking cars
Thanks for the comments, it takes time to find one.. But they are out there
@@D3Sshooter your very welcome 😌💕
Concerning Oldtimers, I don‘ t think, there is a difference bitween private sellers or companies. They all need money and oldtimers in bad condition are always hard to sell. Companies know this.
Peugeot in France = Pöscho in Swabian Dialekt 🤣😂
Greetings from the Swabian Mountains near Ulm
Holger
Thanks for the comments, here I see a major difference...
For sure, to get a good bargain, you need to be a good actor. Not a job for me...
A lot of work is required on this antique Peugeot. The body, fenders, wind screen, need time and love.
Another great project of yours to follow...
We all appreciate you speak some french words.👍
Why not a french name for this Peugeot ?
Thank you for the comments , well the work is not all that much compaired to my other projects
1:16, I know what that is...
Thanks for the comments
I always fail when negotiating the price ... if i like something you can read it in my eyes 😂 😂 😂
Thank you for the comments , as long as you are happy with what you bought its OK.
You're spoiled for choice in EU, down here in Australia we have very few options. Those that are available sell for stupid prices, rusty old bits of tat with burn out or completely missing electronics or a frankenstein selling for $Ks.
Thanks for the comments, I guess we are
I would call him Pygar :)
Beautiful car, Name it "Petit lion" :)
Thanks for the idea!
Peugeot, wow! My favorite French cars. I would say give it a nice French girls name......Claudette, Emille, Giselle etc.
Thanks for the comments, that is an idea
Your passenger will need a good back and some visits to the gym 💪🏻
Definitely!! Thanks for the comments
Very nice car! Yet, buying is not the problem, finishing all the pojects is....😁
Very true! However there is no rush and I completed te MGB GT V8, the Mini ( except the tuning video this week) , the DAX rush... Still need to work on Old Rusty ( but that is parts issue for the monent) and the Peugeot, well that will need to wait a while
It looks well, mm, dare I say it PUGLY!
Thanks for the comments, hahaha
Americans, like myself, are terrible at bargaining. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the comments

Je parle un mot de français, qui est la deuxième langue dans laquelle je vis. Seulement, il est plus difficile d'atteindre de nombreux téléspectateurs. Je penserai à fournir des titres en français
