- OPT7 LED Headlight Install on 2015 Ducati Monster 821.
There is a huge difference between OEM and OPT7. I don't ride much at night and on very dark roads but I was shocked how bad the OEM one was. It was quite scary to ride with. Visibility was poor at best. Once OPT7 was installed, visibility was improved drastically. Even when cornering, you can see way further now and don't have to guess what is coming up or wait for a surprise.

I think I'm gonna give these bulbs a try. I have been holding off on getting HID bulbs but I'm starting to get really sick of the dull halogens.
To be honest, I got this just to have something to make a video for but once I went out at night I could barely believe how much OEM one sucked! I guess sometimes you have to try something good to realize what you had was terrible ... I am so glad I got it now.

Nice vid i just got mine but got the fluxbeam x. Too bad the balast is thicker and i cannot fit it inside the housing. Now my housing is open hopefully nothing bad happens. Do you know if theres a way to adjust the beam height? I think its getting scattered way too high thanks!

how are the results? i just bought a used 796 and the guy had led's installed. the light is next to NONE.. no focus on the road and they've dimmed out. whats your take

Been putting this off for a while now but last night my second bulb blew... Just ordered off Amazon and it will be here tomorrow. Gotta love Prime :). have to do some maintenance on the bike before the riding season gets into full swing.
No Basis For Comparison damn dude what are you doing to those poor bulbs lol. But Ducati's electrical system is less than stellar. LED bulbs are amazing especially if you ride at night.
Hold Fast all day all night. But I might email the bulb makers and have a few choice words. Shouldn't have to replace bulbs every year...
Super easy install. less than 10 min.
No Basis For Comparison the instructions say to drill small holes for the heat to escape in order to prolong bulb life.

Any issues with the heatsink and heat in the headlight housing? Anything I should be aware of before finishing the install?
I have not noticed anything but I guess that would be kinda hard to notice. And I've stopped riding last year so really not sure.

Hi Bastien, those plugs come standard on US models because OEM turn signals are mounted on forks. But if you download the parts list PDF from Ducati, you can find them in there. This is what I've found:

Hmm I looked up the price of new one from Ducati and it's not that bad - $315. You could get a used one for less but not sure if they mount the same way or would it be worth the trouble. They look pretty similar.

I guess sometimes you don't notice how bad something is until you try something better lol!
Even the Diavel has pretty mediocre lighting stock. I might have to pick up one of those bulbs next time mine goes out. Interested to see what the longevity is. I've had Silverstars and PIAA explode from moisture and wheelies on my old Speed Triple.
Has anyone had problems with theirs? In the instructions it says to not put the cover back on because it needs ventilation to keep it cool. Have you had any problems with the bulb over heating. I put on the cover like in the video. I was amazed at the difference. But then after I used the hi beams they stopped working. So i turned off the bike then back on then the hi beams worked for a little while then stopped working. low beams are fine but hi's are gone. i guess i am gonna have to return them.

Have you contacted OPT7? I don't run high beam all the time because I don't find it necessary so I have not noticed it. Let me know what they say if you contact them.

mrporkchop110 maybe a little but its pretty tight and everything is very lightweight so i'm not worries about it. You can put a piece of 3M tape if it bothers you.

Definitely worth upgrading. It is much brighter in daylight but at night it's literally night and day difference.
Hey did you only put the opt7 bulb on the regular beam? Or dif you put one in both high and low beam each??

Hey man! In the US, turn signals are mounted on forks so those plugs come on the bike from the factory. However, looking at the parts list, this is what is listed:

It's a standard automotive plug with the tab you need to press. You can see it in that shot.
Those came with the kit. No idea where you'd get some separately.
It's for catching larger chunks of metal or debris. Look in the user manual under service intervals, it will tell you there how ofter to check it.
