1980, I was 9 when this came out. My brother and I shared a room, he was 2 years older, and always much, much wiser when it came to music. We wore this tape out, playing it over and over, and would also listen to it on vinyl. Twilight was always my favorite on the album. ELO and Jeff Lynne were part of the soundtrack of my life, and I'm a lifelong fan.

Only learned about this song 'cuz I like mecha, anime, and mecha anime. I also like science fiction and things about ships, especially but not limited to space ships.
I always thought this album was awesome...despite the critics thinking otherwise! Great concept...excellent songwriting and singing/playing as always and I loved it then...and I still love it now!!!
As a teen I always wanted to see this album become a feature length film telling the story of this concept album as it goes from song to song throughout the film.
When I first heard it I just fell in love with it. It is just what I imagine when I think of music of the future. Such a majestic, cosmic sound. Blew my mind. I do not know a thing about a Jeff Lynne, but this one alone shows that he is a genius with a capital letter GENIUS.

The first time I ever heard ELO was 3 years ago when this beautiful girl I've only known for a few days showed me the song and then after that I asked her to go to the movies with me and she smiled and said yes. We shared cupcakes with each other and she became the first girl I ever kissed. Last time I saw her was at an airport because she had to go back home to her country, and since then I've gotten over her but the memory will stay with me always. It doesn't even feel real when I think about it. She was only meant to stay awhile.
Buddy of mine turned me onto this album back in the early summer, I only really knew ELO from the hits (mr blue sky, livin thing, etc). And this album melted my face off. I was BLOWN away. Every track is a hit, but Twilight has become one of my all time favorite songs. Just a perfect song start to finish. Gotta preface it with Prologue tho, it’s like listening to Anytime by Journey without starting it with Feeling That Way. Doesn’t make it complete.
Great song! I was 10 at the time this came out but don’t remember hearing this when new. I do remember hearing “Hold On Tight” on the radio a lot back then.
Hey HitsTown, HOLD ON TIGHT was the big hit single from this album. You likely never heard TWILIGHT as it peaked at #38 in December 1981 marking a very brief 3 week run in the Top 40. I remember hearing it on radio for 3-4 weeks during the Thanksgiving-Christmas season but as soon as Christmas was over, the track vanished from the airwaves.

When I first heard it I just fell in love with it. It is just what I imagine when I think of music of the future. Such a majestic, cosmic sound. Blew my mind. I do not know a thing about a Jeff Lynne, but this one alone shows that he is a genius with a capital letter GENIUS.
ELO. Something always classic with ELO, but always futuristic and avant-garde. Jeff and Co. really put together their sound but also perfect balance of commercial and artistic merit. That's what it's all about. Forever grateful and forever congratulations, ELO!

This is from ELO's sadly neglected album "Time." It's a different sound from their classic 70s recordings but is a great slice of melodic techno-pop. This music in this video is in mono, so be sure to check out the stereo version.

I remember it was on top of the pops a couple of times with Pans people dancing to it, if they had played the video, I think it would have gone a lot higher in charts.

У ELO, все альбомы классные! Но этот альбом "Тайм" мне нравится больше всего!!!!! Первый раз, я его услышал в 1981 году. Это было время СССР. И хотя я абсолютно не знаю английского языка, я все песни в этом альбоме разучил и с удовольствием их пою. Всё удивляются "как я хорошо знаю английский язык", но удивляются ещё больше (после исполнения какой-нибудь песни), когда узнают что я, абсолютно не знаю английского языка!))))))) Обалденная группа!!!! ЕLO - музыка моей молодости.

The first time I ever heard ELO was 3 years ago when this beautiful girl I've only known for a few days showed me the song and then after that I asked her to go to the movies with me and she smiled and said yes. We shared cupcakes with each other and she became the first girl I ever kissed. Last time I saw her was at an airport because she had to go back home to her country, and since then I've gotten over her but the memory will stay with me always. It doesn't even feel real when I think about it.
She was only meant to stay awhile.

Buddy of mine turned me onto this album back in the early summer, I only really knew ELO from the hits (mr blue sky, livin thing, etc). And this album melted my face off. I was BLOWN away. Every track is a hit, but Twilight has become one of my all time favorite songs. Just a perfect song start to finish. Gotta preface it with Prologue tho, it’s like listening to Anytime by Journey without starting it with Feeling That Way. Doesn’t make it complete.

Hey HitsTown, HOLD ON TIGHT was the big hit single from this album. You likely never heard TWILIGHT as it peaked at #38 in December 1981 marking a very brief 3 week run in the Top 40. I remember hearing it on radio for 3-4 weeks during the Thanksgiving-Christmas season but as soon as Christmas was over, the track vanished from the airwaves.
