Now this is what I call a reaction! I so appreciate when a trained professional can provide a critique that is based on his/her own training and experience. Of course it is so easy to become attached to Innocent because of what a lovely person he is, but you really have gone above and beyond to provide background of what he is doing technically and why he should be regarded as a serious opera singer. Innocent simply the best opera singer I have heard in a long time sending all my best wishes to him for a prosperous future thank you for sharing your wonderful beautiful voice with us all.❤
Never thought that, I would be jealous but I think I am, when I first saw him on his first BGT performance. I don’t want Innocent to be loved by others but me, an old grandmother. Now he is loved by the world. 💖💖.
@@EliStu680 The internet spoke a lot about the eventual winner and the videos of her performances have a huge number of views, particularly the Golden Buzzer one, but she is an experienced understudy who had been invited by the producers to audition for the show and when Innocent was hidden away in the middle of the running order of the final and she was put on at the end, it was blatantly obvious that she was the chosen one. Sadly, her album didn't do very well, making only #71 and only staying in the Top 100 for one week, so I hope that she does have a successful stage career.
I watched Innocent's three performances on Britain's Got Talent, and I was blown away by his vocal control and stage presence. I believe, and some others have also commented on-line, that he has the chops to become a major opera star, maybe as big as Pavarotti one day.
I love Innocent's voice, he radiates light, and his part of the BGT performances was amazing. BGT often overproduces the songs and the background music was a bit loud in some of them, but that is not to take away from the display and inspiration of his talent. At 17:46 Johan discusses the penchant for "people cheer for loud big high notes...it is disrespecting the music", and how he doesn't like it when regular singers sing arias not appropriate for them...especially children singing opera. I absolutely agree. Well said. And I agree that Innocent seems a beautifully likeable human being!
I think he came in fourth cos mostly young people voted Like in USA They know opera the least of all age groups and thus he didn’t win A shame cos he deserved The top prize. I am almost sure he will go far in his chosen field Good luck to you lnnocent!
I was hesitant to write another comment, but I couldn’t resist...You Are appropriately named because your voice Is pure Innocent. (Innocence). Thank you, for blessing us with your gift🙏🏼
I did learn something, thank you. And I agree often the BGT or AGT, had Opera singer, they made it feel very cheap. Opera is above all music. I am not western’s born, I am just a grandma who discovered Opera and Classical musics only about 20+ years ago. And from time to time, I still do enjoying the 50/60/70 music also. But when I am in the car, I don’t listen to anything but Opera.
Please also listen to Dan Vasc singing Nessum dorma. He is a meta singer but classically trained. His meta is as fantastic as his other songs like Amazing grace.
A little correction, since I’m Italian, but “nelle tue mani” actually means “in your hands”. Anyway it was just to let you know. Great video as usual man😊
I hear someone who has practiced and is mastering their craft… similar to you, in your craft of critique…he sounds like someone who has passion for what he’s delivering to us. 😊
Well he aint just a singer from South Africa but is a PROFESSIONAL opera singer who has won many awards and sung for quite a few opera companies & productions around the world ... and he didnt just turn up in London for BGT but has been there for a few years singing with the ENO - English National Opera. So he aint no amateur as BGT tries to potray him to be .... and as you Mr Bester thinks he is by your analysis of his voice.
At NO point in time has BGT ever made it seem that Innocent was an amateur. The only thing the show did was to put his talent on display, which is actually what the show is about. However, some people tend to assume that it's only for the discovery of talented amateurs - which it is not.
WoW, at last someone who agree with me who are not an expert, but just love opera msuic. I hate it when people goes up there, escpecially kids and mess up the most wonderful music in this world. When Innocent started with Nessun Dorma in the finals, my heart sank, but he did it justice.
I am so glad you said that respecting the music is important, and I must say that I was a tiny bit disappointed that Innocent sang "Nessun dorma" in the final. Yes, I know, it is an operatic hit, and it has that sumptious orchestra and lots of high and loud notes. He sang it beautifully, not "over the top", but I still think that he could have tried something different - say, "Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön" from the Magic Flute. That's immensely difficult, but so poetic and moving.
I think he came in fourth cos mostly young people voted Like in USA They know opera the least of all age groups and thus he didn’t win A shame cos he deserved The top prize. I am almost sure he get far in his chosen field Good luck to you innocent!
Loved your reaction and analysis of the opera singer. MY niece is an opera singer with a Doctorate in music and currently teaches in the university level. I think she is a great singer.
At his original audition,Simon asked Innocent if people thought he wasnt good. Innocent replied that the worst comment was that Opera wasnt for him and that he should stop. In this live performance Simon said that Classic music was snobbish and awful because of how critical and dismissive they were of Innocent.
