- Instead of looking at where we want to go, what we want to be, or what we want to do, and shrugging and saying “I just don’t have the resources for that”, we should go through the effort and the time of creating the resources. And then, once we have the resources that we have created, we can apply those resources to the life that we want. And this has very little to do with money.

@redrustyhill2 That's when you go to the boss and tell "it" you are not being paid for the value you bring to the business. Tell "it" what amount you want. If they won't give it to you, move on. You can't afford the resentment. You you will eventually compromise your work ethic if you stay.

I see stories just about every day how a company or business went bankrupt because the boss ran it into the ground by refusing to acknowledge the value of its workers who were making all the revenue flow so they quit. My work ethic is already dead at my job. I get paid half what I should but i still need an income and there really arent any better jobs out there in my area. I have already quietly quit. I will keep collecting a paycheck saving up as much as i can while i work on my side hustle after work trying to build that into something i can do full time. I truly believe the "bosses " i answer to are too stupid to even realize this department will collapse into decay when i leave. They would walk by the dead corpse of this department and pretend there was no stench.

I wanted to learn how train cutting horses, I found a bloke that’s considered one of the best in my country and asked to learn. I turned up everyday without pay for months, then one day he said he could give me a little money so I saved that and spoke to him about a horse. With what I had saved and the discount he gave me I bought my first cutting horse. Now I have two and haven’t ever looked back to my old life.
My Father taught me at a young age. No one is going to give you anything. You need to figure out what you want and how you are going to achieve that goal. If you want something bad enough, hard work and the will to pursue that goal, one day you will live that dream. It's all inside you. It's called Self Determination. Thanks Dwayne!
your a lucky man never had a dad like that only a abusive drug head who was mean. but im slowly figuring out life im 25 but i got a set back with a psychosis couple years ago... i cant remember 1 time me and my dad walked and talked or ever had some dad and son time together... so people out there if you have kids dont throw them away... it can destroy their lives and sometimes even destroy alot of lives... fatherless sons are dangerous sons (sometimes)... but imma not have any kids thats what i learned from this (also because im to mentally unstable)... and i learned to really appreciate nothingness and silence from like meditations or just being outside sitting down listening to nature when you been through shit at some point you just really appreciate just existing in a more calm life. i also dont have the mental discipline + alot of self doubt impulses about my self so its hard to figure out anything about any possible situation of a future... but hope i someday figure out how to control my own behavior and path of life thanks... but im sure your gonna be a good father like yours we need that for society to suceed.

Surprisingly, this video ended up being a strong affirmation that Im on the right path. I couldnt rent or buy a house, and had a a few hurdles from my 20s. Rather than floundering, I found a 14' boxturck and built a home in the back. Didnt have a car to get to work, so now my house goes to work for me. Now I have the month to month stability that I can go where work and living is good. From this mobile foundation I will build the life that makes me happy.

I’m an auto mechanic and we have 27 acres. We have 2 mares and 5 head on dexter cattle and those 7 animals give me more pleasure and fulfilment in my life than any 9 to 5 ever could. Working with those horses with my daughters and feeding those cattle and moving them from pasture to pasture with my wife, gentlemen get busy living and get busy enjoying your time with your family. I grew up very poor and had no choice but to "live that life" where we had to hunt, grow food and build or fix anything we needed. My dad was similar.. welder, fabricator, mechanic, construction worker..but he got into drugs and never taught me anything. I've worked construction my whole life and took it upon myself to learn all the things he knows, and now I make every effort I can to pass my knowledge down to my nephew and other friends and family. Just yesterday I helped my brother in law put new exhaust on my sister's car so that they didn't have to pay a shop. Passing down information is one of the most important things you can do in life. One day you won't be around anymore to help people so it's extremely important that you share your experiences, so that that they can help themselves and others they know.

My older sister needs to hear this. Worked every day of her adult life, squandered her money on many unnecessary things including cigarettes and whisky. Had many opportunities, tried and failed but never gets back up and learns. Now she is 63, has no savings and no home to call her own. Her health now suffering from not looking after herself, and is becoming bitter towards everyone, including me, because life for me now is easier because I worked hard to set it up this way. She won't change, she will always be a victim to an unfair world, and never takes responsibility for her choices.
I am partially the same. I've been dealing with chronic health issues and family disfunction. It took me getting injured at my job to make me realize no cared about the work I did, few family members partially cared, continuing to feel sorry for myself will never fix anything.
Dewayne, you called it, with the "garbage jobs" needing to bribe people to keep working there. I never thought of it that way before.
Having just retired in March, I've been reflecting on the different employers I've had the last 43 years. It definitely was the benefits and pay that kept me in those places. Of course I've been able to pay my bills and save for my future and be a responsible citizen. But all that did come at a cost.
The price I paid was working those years, doing jobs that I enjoyed from one degree or another, and that I was fairly adept at. The price I paid was doing jobs that I didn't love doing. For the most part I miss the company of the people I worked with, rather than the work itself.
IF I were advising my younger self, I'd say...
* keep yourself nimble by having little or no debt,
* focus and gravitate towards jobs that you enjoy,
* enjoy and pay attention to the people working around you,
* listen to that still small voice in your heart.

My Grandpa was a Cherry farmer and he was always making tools and contraptions for the orchard. The generation that fought WWII and lived through the depression were built different. They didn't make any excuses, they found a way.

I lost my engineering job 2 months ago, have been feeling down for quite a while because I was not getting any job offers from the places I was applying at. I finally got a good job offer the other day, and this video was a great encouragement and reminder to always keep pushing forward no matter how hopeless your situation feels, because there is always light at the end of the tunnel! It would be great if it were true job skills carry the day but the sad reality is they don't always and sometimes the good and talented people get axed because they didnt kiss butt but the lazy person sure did, or someone was afraid of them as office competition but then another office scored big when they took a risk and hired the talented person who had lost their job. Life is a lot of figuring out what you don't want as well. There's a lot of untapped resource building in that, especially mentally. Spending time upset at what others have is time not spent on figuring out how to improve your own situation. A key thing to keep in mind, is that life is not fair, and we're all starting at different points. We're not all capable of reaching the same points. Figuring out what we are capable of and working towards it is really all we have in life. Dewayne's mentality is a great perspective to hear during that journey, and not everyone will have the benefit of hearing it, so count yourself lucky that you did.

Please don't be silly. This applies to able-bodied individuals, not people who need help! There are always provisions, made for folks with disabilities. I have a disability, and taken care of by family. Also, I work with my hands on the computer.

My grandfather was the same way. A master electrician and tinkerer like no other. My uncle lived in a nice area and would see my grandfather picking up washers, dryers and who knows what else. He would fix them and put them in the Pennysaver. He always had other things laying around and would sell multiple items. He made a great living as an electrician but did very well selling this stuff.

People at my job are cutthroat. They do not want anyone to succeed. They set traps for new people like me to jeopardize and sabotage my employment. I’m doing my best, but it goes beyond minding p’s and q’s. This is a government/career job with the potential to provide life benefits and retirement. I have a safety net of a second job, but the second job is a dead end. I’m not sure I will last the 90 days required to become permanent at this government job. I’m trying to be a man about it, but it’s disheartening when other people hold your future in their evil hands.
This last month had been harsh on love for me. My gf didn’t want to continue this life with me.
Dwayne is my father figure and has helped me overcomes the struggle and keep me on my path.

Wasn't born into the life I want but I will make damn sure my kids are. Not that I'll force them to live like I've always wanted to. More of I want to give them the opportunity to grow up the way I wish I did.
I have goals that are attainable, sometimes I work towards them. But lately I find that one day blends into the next. Before I know it I have spent too much time sleeping and swiping up on my phone. I might order a bit of fast food, so then that pretty much wastes another couple hours because it took two hours of work to earn the money to buy that food. I just sorta waste time and then go back to work. I promise myself while at my job that I don't particularly like, "When I get home I will finally start that thing I always wanted to do," but I know that when I get home I will just sleep and spend the week on autopilot again.
I don't like that version of me and writing it down helps me visualize and comprehend what I have become. I am going to keep trying to take a step each day to become who I truly wish to be, a person that I can be proud of.

Hi, my youngest 26 year old son put me on to your videos. They are wonderful! My husband and I have worked our butts off to afford 140 acres and 8 horses. We started a horse drawn restaurant about 15 years ago, three Clydesdale horses drawing a beautiful red omnibus with 4 booth seat tables and a lovely aisle up the middle. People ate a gourmet three course dinner and wine on board as we clip clopped along through town. We had an absolute fun time running that show - 11 hour days for us humans, thousands of people and meals and not one meal was ever complained about. Lots of wonderful people and memories - the first ever horse drawn restaurant in our State. It is all in the shed now as we wound it up after going through the worst bushfire our state has ever seen. I managed to drive the horses and omnibus out as a team through the fire and saved them whilst husband was saving campers in the State forest. We are older now and our dear peaceful and intelligent working Clydesdales are here enjoying their well earned retirement. We survived! We bought our little ranch 7 years ago, overrun with weeds cow paddock we have re fenced, planted trees, got on top of the weeds, improved the pastures, grown a small herd of 55 Cattle starting with 8 cows and a small flock of 30 sheep, then we found a beautiful old house and moved it here, then we found a second hand fire engine shed and moved it here. We are cobbling it together and living a modern ranch life completely off grid - solar battery system - no public utilities. We live looking out over incredibly insane views here in Australia. We are yet to build a barn however we have been bowerbirds and have all the second hand material to build the framework, only needing to buy the new iron for the roof and walls and to kit it out inside. Facebook marketplace is a wonderful thing! We have tried and failed at alot and succeeded. Life is an adventure. We gave up the smoking years ago and feel better for it and saving alot of money and time. Unfortunately 4 weeks ago a set back for us. A freshly oiled Billet broke on my second hand saddle tore down the holes then ripped the leather to the left of the holes finding an exit. ZThe saddle came right off with me in it and I broke my L2 vertebrae so I am waiting for it to heal and watching your videos. Soaking in all the wisdom. Can't wait to get back in the saddle - We have horses to back and cattle to push and trails to explore. I am so glad my son finds wisdom in your videos. I hope he decides to move out of the city and come join us on the ranch as there is plenty of room. Kids have to make their own way though.

I was in business school and only had a year left till I graduated, got an internship with a bank and I absolutely hated it. I’ve since moved across the country and found more happiness working and learning from people who live like I want to live. While it’ll be a long time before I own my own ranch, I’ve got my little slice of life figured out and hope the same for everyone else.
May I ask what you do now? I was in a similar boat. Went to business school, worked in corporate for 2 years and hated it. Now I'm trying to figure out my path but am searching in so many different directions.

Life took a turn in my early 20's I got married and had to get a job, so I got a job in the trades and am still in the piping trade and I am in my mid 70's, But in my mind I still am the old cowboy, even though I do not have horses or the ranch lifestyle, but I can dream about it and I enjoy the dreams

I started a business 6 months ago out of desperation when my old job laid me off.

I’m making decent money, but working like 60 hours a week.
I want to be a musician. That’s all I ever wanted.
But there’s not enough time in the day, and not enough days in the week. And I’m getting older.
Between family, business, health, chores, and everything else, I still scrape the time together for music. But it takes from other things.
I just don’t know if I can keep this up.
I don’t know what I’m doing at all.
I don’t want your particular life, but your advice helps me in the life I want to build.

Yess!!! 🙌🏼 I wish someone had put it to me this way before. I’m 25 and I just started going to school for real estate. I’m an artist by blood and I need to live a life that I’m passionate about, so I spent years aimlessly searching for my “purpose”. I was working in the service industry to make enough money to get back on the road to travel and find that out. But I didn’t find it out. I loved traveling and being on the open road and being free, but there always came a time when the fun ended and I was in panic mode because I ran out of money or I couldn’t get out of this sketchy place because I was having mechanical issues, etc. That’s why last year I had an epiphany and decided, I’m just going to pick a direction. Real estate isn’t my purpose, but it can lead me to my purpose by putting me in a better financial position. Nothing gets going out of stagnancy, you have to have some momentum. Can’t waste time trying to find your purpose when a lot of peoples purpose comes about later in life. You just got to do something!

A man can work hard his entire life building up a modest little nest egg, then along comes bezos and wallmart and stomps that man and his successful retail business out of existence. Same is happening to family farms, being destroyed by billion dollar corporate ag conglomerates who own the politicians and buy legislation that makes it virtually impossible to exist as a small farm, ranch, dairy. Wake the phuck up. Todays world is completely different from even 20 years ago.

I’m missing a leg and I make things happen in my life as well.
People praise me for it often which I don’t care for. I just feel it necessary to make things happen and be productive and provide for my family as well as for my soul.
I could never feel good about myself being a bum or couch potato.
I love my life and I believe that life is what you make it.

Myself(53) an older gentleman(70) I wrangle with here in east TN had a very similar conversation just the other day.. we work with a bunch of younger folks who seem to think they’re going to get rich doing this job. They’re good kids but somehow they think this job is going to make them millions lol.. the ones who figure out pretty quick that the job is it’s own reward make it… the ones that don’t seldom last more than a few days. Guess it’s not romantic enough shoveling, shoeing & riding all day for very little money lol. I love it,
Isnt it funny how our fathers could do the things they could do. How lucky I was to have a father that no matter what calamity surfaced, he would use his particular logic AND heart to get us through it. But the magic was he always included me in the plan and explained his reasoning as his way of passing down critical thinking. And If I disagreed with him he would give me the stage to explain my counter. It makes my eyes a little wet remembering him saying "Well now son, that holds alot of water, however let us try this on my dime first, and if we encounter some pushback, I owe your plan a fair chance. That way at least I am the only one to blame from the start instead of you taking on that load. Can we agree on that? My father was a new widower, and I was a son with now only a father, life was dark for a while, but the light found its way into our lives and stayed. I wish I was half the man he was, and I only hope I can be that for my son and daughter.

Why I watch this man. Good teachings. Second Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption. I see him as the alive version of the greatest loss in gaming history. Only game that hurt me real bad to see another character die. Idc who knows I actually cried when it happened. If they make another Red Dead Redemption I want this man to be a part of it. I will do everything in my power to make this happen. The moment they announce it. I will start a campaign to make this happen.

Everyone seeks more more more. I’ve been saying this for years. Your money is absolutely useless to a person who enjoys what they’re doing. It just doesn’t compute. I’ve found my role and I absolutely love it. And believe me…. I’ve worked dozens of jobs I hate with a passion. But there’s lessons learned at each one of those jobs. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you some inspirational quote or anything like that. That’s just how it is. The realest thing I could tell you is never stop. Just keep going. That’s it.
And that’s exactly why I love this channel. This man is amazing and more young people need to listen to this man and take his words to heart. It’s all facts.
Money isn’t real anyways, it’s just a tool. Just like the tools his father created to solve problems. You cannot make it more than that. It’s all about your conscious experience on this planet and what gives you a feeling of fulfillment. Tons of people make millions and contribute next to nothing to society… do you really want that? Find a purpose, treat people right, and do what you do the right way. And be proud of yourself.

This is so true, I’m a mechanic trying to start my own shop while also helping my wife start her mini ranch. Many many nights it’ll be side work after my day job just to go right home and help her with chores until it’s time to go to bed and get up way too early to do it all over. Dreams cost a lot more than money!

I get along with animals, I'm black but wouldn't mind trying out the ranch life for a week or so, experience horse riding and enjoy seeing the mountains while riding the he horses, I'm an animal lover and I believe they sense good energy

The excess of abundance in today’s life makes it hard for young people (myself included) to build resources over time and effort. I’m currently studying, starting a business and have a full time job, it’s not easy, but having an idea of what you want to achieve helps a lot to get through it. I hope and believe it will pay off.

The easy days are riding horses, mending fences, tractor work. That's about it.
I grew up on a farm, my uncle raised horses, my cousin owns 800 acres that homes bison, and Texas long horn, and let me tell you I'd rather mess with TLH all day vs bison. I have had bison brake my horse literally, wasn't even herding them it just charged 20 yards for no reason and I wasn't paying attention.
My great grandpa housed mules and a horse drawn sickle to cut hay for the winter.
My grandparents lived on the outskirts of the city. My grandmas daddy ran mules till he was into his 90s and he was a master of all. I remever him at 88 fixing his house on a ladder he built because it was his house.
I have 6 meat lambs, 11 chickens and 2 gardens. This is the Best ! It doesn't make for a cool tv show(aka Yellowstone) but I still get to shovel stalls, feed and water animals- in All types of weather. - and it is marvelous!- but there's no leaving easily for a fun weekend away- there's no sleeping in
- And we may venture into low line cattle. But it's all about one step at a time- and we pay as we go. And maybe ..... if i can convince hubs, just maybe, i can find an older gelding one day who needs a home😊

Amen to that! This simple formula in the title of this video has eluded me my entire working life. Also, the cost of resources to build the life I wanted are and have been for the last 30 years unfairly overpriced. I can't even sink a corner post without complaining about how much the corner post costs. All of my efforts have gone towards giving away my meager resource funds to greedy, money-hungry SOB's. I think the system is rigged. And that system is getting more and more top-heavy every year. And I cannot wait for it to fall over and balance things out.
attitude makes the difference, some people are willing to grind it out, some arent. anyone who wants it bad enough will go and put the years into the process. no one is exempt from high prices, but we can choose carefully and plan and put in the hours and years. no one is really holding us back but the guy in the mirror.

So many people do not realize that the greatest things to be built or created all came from fanatics who worked incrementally over time!
Our greatest cities were once pop up wood shacks, built by carpenters out in the middle of nowhere. Over time as more people, more money, more jobs, more businesses, more talent moved into that place; these wood shacks were torn down and replaced with brick and mortar buildings. As more economic and population growth occurred, these buildings would be up zoned to three, four, five and ten story buildings! Voila! Now we get Los Angeles, New York City, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle etc. etc. !!!
So many people have to re-learn the old ways of craftsmanship, workmanship, vocational training, applied arts etc. because that is who we need nowadays!!
If you're passionate about something. Try it. If you fail, at least you know. Worst case, you will wind up a making a living, doing what you love.

Tomorrow I will be stepping down from my current position, in which I have never really settled and that made me burnt out and stress, to go back to a job that pays less but allows me more time and less stress to learn something new.
I'm still unsure of what I want to do, but I know it's not sales and that I will need yo build the resources to get where I want to be
The only reason why I am going where I am going is to be in service to do good things, external situations is a matter of preference and it is also important but not the ultimate goal that will determine my fulfillment.

What a wonderful talk. I am over 60 and looking back and looking at where I was to where I am. It is so true, it is my hope that the younger folks take this to heart and listen. Nothing is instant and it takes time to build. Love these talks.
Today is different than yesterday. Lightyears different. Literally, the more i build, the harder i work, the less i have. Its called inflation, greedflation, taxation. Just when i think i have gotten enough to invest in something, taxes and insurance come due. Vehicle breaks down. Tractor breaks down. Hay mower breaks down, Hail destroys the crops, neighor refuse to pay for last years hay i graciously let them take to get through until their operating loan is approved. You boomers experienced the end of an erra which no longer exists.

I’m 21 years old. I went from sleeping on my moms couch with my pregnant girlfriend with a car that broke down every other day to now having a job for 2 years that’s rough on my body but it pays damn good and I work my ass off for what we have. A brand new car in the driveway and a brand new renovated 3 bedroom house. The struggle is meant to make you appreciate the things you’ll receive down the road and it’ll also make you value the things that you have because at the end of the day you look in the mirror and you earned it. No handouts. God is good.

I want to give thanks to your father, both for instilling you, and inspiring other generations. My grandfather was just like him, and I aspire to be like him as well. I worked my whole teen life in warehouses, put myself thru a trade school, became an auto/Diesel Technician. Learned to ride and repair motorcycles. Joined the military, repaired tracked vehicles, weapons, and aircraft turbine engines. I recently earned my certifications in agriculture and am starting in Law enforcement qualifications. I learned every major trade in small amounts. Yourself and your Father come from a line of a man's man. One who does everything necessary to take care of his family with no one else's help. It was their way. To them, it was freedom. For us, it is the way forward.
Work is trying my patience, and I'm not in a good way, however, I'm blessed and wish the same for everyone here
