From Kentucky, a recovering addict here. 29 years clean. I'm not an athlete, so there's differences, but there's a whole lot of like. Thank you for sharing. All the best.
I met Rex Chapman as a kid when he played for the suns. Such a nice guy to all of us. His addiction was wild, but The fact that Rex can have a sense of humor about it and smile and he’s doing well is awesome in itself. Hoping his book helps a lot of people out there that need it. Great interview DP!
Absolutely impressed with Rex and his hardcore authenticity and vulnerability...And Dan shows why he's one of the best all time to hold space for guests to get to the real deal.
I'm a big Rex Chapman fan. He's very thoughtful both as a basketball insider and as a human. He's one of those guys you'd like to have in your circle of friends.
Much respect to Rex Chapman for how the dealt with his struggles and getting past them. Chapman was a great player at Kentucky, especially his last year there. Rex was a tremendous athlete that could jump out the gym, he was a force going to the bucket, and he had a beautiful jumper whether it was his pull up or catch and shoot. I enjoyed watching him play then game. 👏🔥
Thank you for this interview I read his book and such a courageous man to share his story. Dan was a pro at getting him to share his most vulnerable side really enjoyed it.
Hilarious... Danny....frickin DENIAL is incredibly powerful....we had to get honest with our INNERMOST SELF...THIS IS THE FIRST STEP......(It takes one to know one,...and you absolutely are)✌️😁
Good for you Rex Thank you for sharing. I'm sure your words will help others and I'm going to buy your book!!! And this is coming from a Syracuse Orangemen..😂
I think most people are like me; rooting for Rex to stay sober so he can continue to share his remarkable story in an honest fashion. I’m going to read the book and maybe it will answer my #1 question. Where was his dad in all of this? He was a professional as a player and a nationally renowned college coach. I’ve listened to Rex talk about his troubles on a number of occasions and even just now. I don’t remember him ever mentioning his dad one way or the other. I think maybe one time I heard him joke that his dad has said Rex couldn’t have played for him. I took that as his way of joking that Rex may not have been coachable. Was his dad gone by the time Rex was retired and heading down the wrong path? I guess the book will cover that.
It does not deteriorate thought process and decision-making at all. It’s another method to keep yourself alive. Well you work on the reasons why you use drugs, which was the solution to your problem.

How dare this guy talk about Suboxone like it's a drug. Suboxone saved my life.. I've been clean 7 years from heroin thanks to Suboxone. What an idiot.
Carful who you call an idiot. Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication, also called a narcotic.
It is a drug. A controlled substance. And you trade one addiction for the other. How many people come off of opioids/opiates and then take Suboxone once and quit cold turkey? And from one addict to another what good does it do tearing another addict down?
it does save you from the chaos of oxys or herion but eventually you realize that your a slave to the suboxone and thats very difficult to kick as well.

No need to apologize. Rex delivered!!! Answered every question the way you wished everyone answered questions
Extraordinary interview! Thanks
One of the best most honest conversations I have watched! Thanks for sharing that, both Dan and Rex are class acts.
Absolutely impressed with Rex and his hardcore authenticity and vulnerability...And Dan shows why he's one of the best all time to hold space for guests to get to the real deal.
Very similar situation as Rex. The toughest thing is getting over the regrets, shame, and people you hurt. Great stuff, Rex.
Well said. God bless you Vince.
Can’t say how proud I am to see Rex Chapman doing great hope the book helps other people $$$$&man
Rex Chapman, spiting that real talk, throwing Rex an atta boy !👏
Ahhh... this is the Dan Patrick I love. One for the Outtakes Compendium 😉

My gosh, was he one helluva basketball player. Whatever his past troubles, I am glad to see he is in a good place today.

As a Blazers fan, do not bring up Sam Bowie, you lose ALL credibility!
as a Dr.- hearing Rex say- 'within 2 days- I was in love' with the narcotic pain medications- that is sad! Hang in there Rex- keep up the fight
Tremendous interview. Wasn’t in my radar at all, but I’m going to go get that book !
The Legend! Bring Rex more often!

They say addiction is like riding a tiger. Anyone who can get off the tiger and walk away has my respect.
Your best interview in a long time. I watched it live and am watching again to see what I missed.
Remember that awesome 3 he hit in that playoff game that time?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
I'm truly glad he beat his addiction. Now he'll be around longer to spread his idiocy

Watch the language lol
Ooops!🤬🤬🤬
That definitely wasn't a Shannon sharpe style introduction. This dude insulted Rex
I wish Rex well.....🙏
Rex is the real deal
He was an almost great college player, terrific athlete.
Love Rex!! Great dude!
Dan I love you. But its WEM BUN YAMA not WEM BYE YAMA
I almost had a stroke tryna read that
I was a big fan of Rex as a kid. It’s unfortunate he became a junky and a Leftist wacko.
Still, such an inspiration to me as a 10 year old.
One day at a time
Rex is the man...just say no
Too many junkies in the comments section.
Yawn
