This frame is my main car. By far the best performing car that I own. I actually modified the frame and sent it off for sls sintering (it's like 3d printing). My motor had started to deform my frame from the heat, so I needed some better material. I also designed a custom servo tray that has a little open ring on the back of it that I run a limiting rope through, it still allows all of the flex, but the front basically does not lift. I also designed the back a bit differently so I could put the battery on top of the plastic, instead of below. I designed that part of it with a magnetic battery cover that tapers down to the back. Finally, I mounted the front shocks to the inside, as I wanted to keep my turning radius, without an extremely wide front end. It's a beast. (Brushless motor from moforc)
I’ve print myself one of these STL that I buy on cult 3-D. Oh man, this chassis is awesome and it keeps people looking at it. This is the greatest ever . Fun fact I love it so much that I leave it on the dash of my car. One day the entire print was heated by the sun and the gravity just bend the plastic. I thought I need to print a new one but you know what it works perfectly it just droped more by the heat. I love it even better. I don’t think you can go lower than that. It was a you successful unpredicted events. Thank you for the great video. I like the quality of what you were doing.
I just got my warthog chassis and i love it! Im Running the lizard pro with a mofo rc nano beast and that fits a bit better. Also brass axles and weights so it climbs so good! Thanks for this vid that made me buy it!!
Apologies. I have not liked enough of your videos. I was in a full blown Cape Crawlers marathon while manning my desk. Loved this video. Would love to see a build list. But no worries. Your explanations are great and your builds awe inspiring to me . Please keep up the great work. Much Respect.
Sorry, I am going to have to unsubscribe....my bank account can't keep up with all of your amazing builds. It's like Pokemon go. Gotta catch em all! Lol. I am joking, btw....lol
Also, if you find your wheels rubbing on the front shock, if you cut the fake reservoir off of a stock shock, you can squeeze the shock on the inside of the frame rail, thus giving you more wheel clearance. I had +4 axles and mud slingers on old treal wheels and this is what I had to do to get full turning radius. Just my experience, hope this info is useful. 😊
Been running tenth scale for years now. Just breaking into 1:24 and after watching your video i ordered a fms K5. Be seeing you around and thanks for your videos!
Sure thing. The kit was $35, links were $10. Furitek setup was ~$180. Servo was $60. Wheels and tires were $50. Axles, diff covers, hexes were another $60ish. The rest came from a donor rig
I love the look of this chassis so I had to get one but I have an ax24 which turn out to be quite a different beast, it's gonna take some time but I'll get it. I would add a picture but can't figure out how.
Loving this ... Epic performance. Can you leave a list of components and links to all the parts please? I may want to go for different shocks in metal so any help on this would be appreciated. I'm in the UK and I don't think we have the same level of product available to us as you guys in the State's.
Glad you enjoyed it! I put some of the links in the description. Beyond that list you'll need the JLU links and driveshafts, skid plate, electronics, axles/housings, shocks, motor, transmission. Most of that can be sourced from a donor rig.
Glad I found this video/build/channel! I'm thinking about a build just like this. 2 Questions: What would you change on this build now? I think that low cog is awesome, but I might use the taller tires from your ultra 24 build. Second, your off-road course!! Got any videos on THAT?
I will say this thing seems to be the ultimate vertical climber but I feel that on the rocks and over less steep inclines the comp build you made will probably be better. Unfortunately I now know what I’m putting in my birthday list great video.
I knew I should’ve skipped over instead of stopping and watching 😁😁 just kidding, that is super cool. Just got done working on my trail hunter, I put just the brass rings in the front rims, brass hexes all four corners. I weighed each one the two heaviest in the front, The rings and the hexes because they don’t all four weigh the same, And the to heaviest upfront the heaviest out of those two I put on the driver side front next heaviest passenger side The weight by us stock front 54 and the rear 46, now with the brass rings and hexes front 59 and the rear 41 now to test
I have a blue one of these and the one thing I would put on this to improve it like I did mine is 3flow9rc steering link and diff cover skid. It's so low these unique products really help it flow like water over the rocks. I got the injora comp pins on it and they sit higher than the roof.
Really do like that stellar transmission but I also did find that RC four-wheel-drive has the same one with a 35 turn brushed motor that you can pull off and put the surpass motor brushless on works awesome same thing little cheeper
Do the holes in the chassis come pre-tapped with threads? And if not do you have a tap set that you have to tap the threads out yourself? or can you just throw a nut on the back of it?
I was going to get that kit but he is charging 14 dollars for shipping which is excessive for a few ounces of parts im just going to print my own but thanks for the great reviews.
Im a follower, love your channel, very new to the mini crawlers, spent many a late night watching your vids. Might be a silly question, but what SCX24 did you start with as a base for this build? or does it not matter? Cheers Jeff
Hey man I love the video and your channel. Is there anyway you could do an overview of your outdoor course I lived the indoor one but would love a video on the rocks
I haven't heard about any aftermarket chassis kits for this unfortunately. That's not to say it isn't being developed though. I feel like the demand for parts for the AX isn't up there with the SCX or the TRX4M, so we'll see what companies develop.
While i have started to print this (the seller is offering the files for a small amount) - i was wondering about links, of course i can experiment - would like to hear your opinion about the advantage of the provided links compared to a normal set of low clearance links. Also i have here a stock"ish" deadbolt i might want o convert with this chassis (to avoid buying a fifth scx24) - that would be deadbolt rear and c10 front links - but maybe this will mess up the balance of this chassis that seems to use C10 rear lenght links on front and rear. (Not expecting an answer, just contemplating). Also worrying about big tires touching the shocks or chassis - i dont want to invest into parts to go real wide...
I think a normal set of links may pivot better. The provided ones felt a little tight. My favorite wheel base is the combo you mentioned: deadbolt rear, c10 front, but I don't know what that would look/perform like on this chassis. Some folks have mentioned mounting the shocks on the inside of the chassis to mitigate rubbing. Also cutting off the fake reservoir of the stock shocks for more clearance.
You would have to find the supporting hardware like mounting plates, electronics, pinion gear, etc. I haven’t seen a komodo motor in many 1/18 scales. It’s mostly the micro komodo
@@CapeCrawlers I agree, you would need a long narrow body I would assume. I just think would look very detailed and also keep most of the better crawling ability.

My only hesitation is about the height of the SMP setup. That mount is really tall. I would have to look at them side by side to tell for sure but it would be close.
Really been thinking about doing a black and orange build with the chassis and have the smp as the center piece. Maybe just trimming out some of the top cover would work?

Great tips! Mine rubs just slightly but doesn't bind. If I switch to bigger tires I will definitely have to do one of these things.
