I was passionate to become a cook got a job in a hotel as commis chef but got sacked out within two months as I was slow in kitchen and people always shouting at me and my passion as a chef was crushed down and I’m feeling and looking down myself as I can’t make it in the kitchen and fell into depression my dreams are crushed and I haven’t entered my kitchen till now at home coz it makes me to feel the bad memories in the kitchen

Diana, extreme pain is necessary for development. You have been lied to by these celebrity chefs and these romantic youtube videos. I could not even crack an egg in the beginning, I could not even make a coffee. It took 12 years of PAIN to develop my character, speed, endurance and management skills .

Don't give up! Practice cooking faster at home, put the timer on and time yourself, then get better next time. Memorize basic recipes also. Tell yourself you can and you will! :)

I'm in the same boat now I went into an interview today it was a work interview and I almost broke down because I have been in this field for 19 years so I totally understand where you are coming from.

with an attitude. I a good kitchen always has place for a person who wants to join the trade. I used to get given a stool to sit on and watch the whole kitchen function with professionals. it was like someone was doing a ready, steady go. I saw chefs handle the heat, deal with food orders, and even get told off if they did something wrong. even saw people get fired. I never got told to shut up in my whole career till the millennium. chefs learned to respect that because the moment they became unstable, would be the time they start telling people to shut up. If you are given a opportunity, embrace it. don't put other people down.

Ears open...mouth shut... or ears open mouth open. In the workplace you and your ideas should be respected I'm a chef and if my head chef said that to me I'd go fucking mental.
