    I am very pleased with the performance of my 3 Scribo pens. The one improvement I will seek is an increase in ink flow in my Zucca 18k BBB. I have a 14k Flex Broad that feels incredible to write with! Ink flow is just right and I’ve even used a shimmering ink with no problems with cleaning. Tip for Buying a Scribo in the US, PenChalet.com , use the Pentertainment Podcast discount code, then check out with PayPal pay in 4 option. Voila, one super pen in place of 4 lower price pens, about $136/ month. Anyway, that’s my strategy. Thanks for reviewing Scribo!

    Pen Crime or rather good idea: On expensive pens over $300.00 manufacturers should offer 1x Nib Grinding if you are unhappy with the stock Nib.

    Thanks for your review of the Scribo Feel. I purchased one and received it a couple of days before you posted this review. Mine is a different finish but just as beautiful, well-made and smooth writing as yours. One dealer's site stated Scribo limited production of each finish of the Feel to 219, which if true, makes the price a bit more palatable as well.

    I am watching this for a second time (with considerable time between viewings), so I did not check if or what I possibly posted. I too have a very, very high regard for SCRIBO. My SRIBO is priceless, as it was the pen owned by the CEO of SCRIBO, tuned to perfection, with a soft flex nib to die for. Such was the generosity of the CEO who, when appearing on Appelboom’s my 3 Favorite pens, gave his own pen to the viewer who wrote the more compelling reason why the would pen would be special. It is by far the most impressive pen i own and it is one a retired professor could never justify buying. I will be grateful for as long I as live for the generosity. I “FEEL the passion of writing each time I use this amazing pen.

    Officer Figboot, I have some heinous pen crimes to report:
    -Companies using plastic feeds with their flex nibs instead of ebonite.
    -Companies that claim to have existed for over a hundred years even though they went defunct then bought and re-launched at a later date.
    -Companies using the term 'precious resin' for regular plastic. Probably one of the more grievous crimes in my opinion though.
    Please make sure justice is served swiftly, thank you.

    Slick metal section might be the most significant pen crime cuz it just limits the use of a pen

  • @jaystone4816
    @jaystone4816 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The worst pen crime is buying a pen and the nib won't write at all or it writes badly. The primary function of a pen is to write. I have $100 pens that write perfectly and much more expensive Visconti and Montegrappa pens that came with awful nibs. If Kaweco and Lamy can provide nibs that write acceptably, there can be no excuse for companies that make and market pens that are many times more expensive .

    Yay! more Scribo love and attention! Thank you for the review. It took a long while to bite on Scribo as that large bulbous fat design did not win me over initially. Once in hand however, it fits like a glove and is not overly large or heavy. The hand polished facets really add functional luxury into both barrel and section. The only concern I have is the piston mechanism. I actually do not mind lower ink capacity and wish for a c/c version for easy ink changes. I enjoy the 14K Flex the Flex Foglia, absolutely top-notch and fairs flex favorably to custom grind by IndyPenDance on 14K Jowo #6 (stiffer but truer). I'd say the Scribo 14K flex has the feel of a soft wide Pilot CU #50 plus added flex for line variation with minimal pressure. If this is OMAS flex of yesteryear, Scribo has really honored the namesake with Feel the Flex and offers a great service to the FP community. I'd be curious how MB Calligraphy Flex and Santini Superflex using 18K comparatively fare against 14K. Either way, this is a great renaissance for Italian fountain pen lovers or any fan that enjoys a fine writing experience.

    Super. A very nice pen. Very tempting indeed. The nib seems a bit small for that sized pen and it was brought into focus with the uncapped comparisons. However, the smaller nib does keep the price down.

  • @Joey-gp8gg

    Beautiful pen!! I love the look of it and it looks to be a really good quality pen too overall. I will admit I bruised my chin on my desk when you mentioned the price but I think it could be a grail pen for one day perhaps but it might have to wait in line with some of my other grails haha
    As for a pen crime... I think that it is awful when a pen manufacturer makes a pen out of material so precious and delicate that you feel as if you can't or shouldn't ink it up and use it. I like a pen that is aesthetically pleasing and stuff don't get me wrong. But when it almost feels like you are holding a work of art that belongs in a gallery rather than a functional piece of kit that just looks really nice and classy yet a great and practical pen to use I feel like it just totally defeats the object of it being a pen. I know these are normally things that a 'collector' would buy as opposed to a 'user' in a lot of respects and as a user, perhaps I am biast but this is only my humble opinion and I'm sure other people may disagree but that's what I feel is a pen crime.' I would LOVE to see a video on what your pen crimes are though, David. I'm sure you have seen some things in your journey that you feel someone should be fined or arrested for doing to a pen or ink haha! Yeah a pen crime video is definitely something I would be interested in seeing!
    Great video David, thank you for this review and for all of your videos. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! Thank you for taking your time to help and inspire so many people with your videos. Watching them makes me want to use my pens (and buy lots of lovely new ones too!!!!)

    Glad to see this review, I've been hoping that some video reviews for the Scribo Feel would be coming out. I've been considering this pen due to the reputation of the nibs, so I'm also glad to see the nib performance seems to match that reputation.
    The pen crime I want to mention is more like a pet peeve -- modern cartridge/converter pens that have a faux piston knob or blind cap at the end of the barrel, complete with gold band separating it from the rest of the barrel, which serves no purpose except meaningless decoration. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it reminds me of the Texas put-down "all hat, no cattle." As if they are pretending to be something they are not.

    Great review Dave. Can’t get enough of that color. I gotta believe it must be a difficult color to produce, because I’ve simply not seen a silver blue color like that very often. And of course the facets send it over the top! Thanks again Dave.

    Worst pen crime is elitism, both from brands, pen users and non-pen users.
    "We are [brand], people don't mind paying a premium for our products/certain design choices/what it writes like."
    "You have never used X/spent more than Y/had more than Z, therefore I'm better at pens than you."
    "You can't write with that, it's only for special occasions/people with nice handwriting/writing in blue or black ink with."

    Really nice pen, with a quite original shape... I think the people used to hold the pen a bit far from the nib may find the step to the barrel a bit too steep. And the price maybe is a bit steep also for a resin pen, even though with 18k nib, ebonite feed and piston filling system. And I see that the design with piston filling without ink window has definitely become common, especially in Italian pens... good but... 😊

  • @Danny.._
    @Danny.._ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    one of the most heinous pen crimes has got to be putting a sticker on the pen that doesn't come off cleanly. i've had to scrape more than one off a pen barrel, and then the sticky residue often won't come off without the use of acetone - which is a nerve-wracking process when it may destroy the material of the pen!

    • @chrislj2890

    A pen crime I'm on the fence about is the company name/logo engraved into the pen, rather than the finial or cap band. If it's stylistically part of the pen and suits it, that's fine, but just blatant text on the pen is too much, in my opinion.

    quill feather on the nib? Beautiful pen, I thought the price would be higher. My pen crime would be price gouging.
    A misdemeanor would be not providing a converter with cartridge/converter pens.

      On the 14k nibs, instead it says "Feel the Flex", so it does make more sense when you consider across the nib options (the 14k nibs are Extra Flexible, or in the old OMAS days, Extra Flessebile, and that was engraved on the nib (at least on my Alba)

    Pen crime: the useless Visconti clip, the old Visconti chipping enamel on the clip. Also, inconsistency in nib quality and gauges from certain manufactures, where some write well, some do not or some 'medium' nibs write too fine or too broad. The dreaded lottery of buying a pen. Or certain manufactures who pop a nib on a pen and ship it without ever testing it.
    This is an excellent video and it seems Scribo make a high quality pen.

      I've watched a lot of David's reviews and I don't agree with you. He is fair, but he isn't shy about pointing out problems or concerns he encounters, including his assessment of the price being asked by the manufacturer for a particular model. And he is careful to note some things he doesn't like that are simply a matter of individual preference. The pen world is filled with enthusiasts with individual preferences. I personally have not bought some pens I was interested in as the result of his reviews,, and found some I had no prior interest in before he reviewed them. I think you have mistaken fairness for uncritical approval.
