- In this video I attended the Leyland SME Traction Attraction event held on the 23rd April 2023. The event is for the club members to steam up there traction engines & road vehicles ahead of the year steam events around the country. It gives chance to make sure they are running in tip top shape and any adjustments are made prior to the big events. Fantastic day had by all members and the public.

Really nice looking Traction Engines there.
Absolutely, one day I’ll build one, after all the locomotive projects! 😂. All the best, Matt. 👍
great video, thanks for uploading
Your very welcome Steam Fan, thanks for watching. All the best, Matt
Model engineering. A craft i hope to take in the future. Engines, gears, machines and clocks. A craft that involves all mechanical stuff I love. I applaud these engineers and their wonderful machines! ⚙️👏
Excellent news, but don't wait, its too much fun to wait! All the best, Matt 👍

i would love to buy one of those beautifu l traction engines. i got into collecting them a few years ago. however none of the ones i have are a beatifu; as that bluish green one i would love to but it
Superbly made and maintained ( large ) scale engines run by mature people....
I don't know about the mature bit..... 😂. All the best, Matt
@@MattChiversWorkshop I mean that no young people are involved in these activities ; they are too busy with their phones
We have a few young members at the club, all whom participate in these activities, all without a phone in their hand. All the best, Matt
@@MattChiversWorkshop Glad to hear this, sounds wonderful, having young people participating in the club's activities..
Absolutely fantastic. I love anything powered by steam. 👍👍👍👍. Can't wait for your next build video.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Kev, Much appreciated as always. All the best, Matt 👍
Brilliant video as usual my friend. Wish you had mentioned the event, would have "popped" along with my engine... Then again you could have "popped down" to borrow it for a while and use it yourself!
Cheers Grum, have you moved closer and not told me?? 😂 All the best buddy, Matt 👍
Top notch lad. When you ordering yours 😂
Order?? Nooooo, I'm a maker..... it would be a Foden wagon 😂. All the best, Matt. 👍
Cool stuff! I bet Fred Dibnah would’ve really enjoyed these…
Good ole Fred, he'd enjoy it, but I'd also think he'd have some choice words about the direction steam is taking. Right now the preservation scene needs a Fred to bring it back to the public attention. All the best, Matt 👍
@@MattChiversWorkshop stumbled onto his videos several years back. I’ve watched every single one of them at least twice! I bet he would’ve been a cool man to get to know… Greetings from USA! Loved your video!
Brilliant. Where can you buy one of these from?
Although these have been built not bought, there are companies out there that sell such vehicles that others have built, like legacy vehicles over at www.legacyvehicles.co.uk. All the best, Matt 👍
Why do so many of these pop? is it just the size of the steam dome at this scale?
Why was the foden wagon saftey blow off popping like that never seen that before? Great video btw
Never mind just read the comments further down 😂😅
2:42 The Appleton & Brady flatbed is a very handsome machine, but what is that spit noise, that I don't hear other machines making? It's frequent not occasional, didn't fade out over time, and a few noises were quite rude. 5:38 There was one shot showing one unloading but for the number of machines there'd need to be quite a line of trailers. Are some stored on site?
Hi Jim, that would be the pop type safety valves, they just let a quick blast out to keep pressure down, I found it rather annoying personally. Not something I'd ever fit to mine. None of these were stored on site, we don't have the space, everyone brought theirs on trailers, unloaded, then parked up on our car park. All the best, Matt 👍
steam engines will come back, after fossile fuels ^^ cheapest ever only coal/wood and water running 100 years
Well they have just recommissioned 2 coal fired power stations..... not like that was in the news!! All the best, Matt 👍
